1. An example of foreshadowing is when Nick invited Daisy over for Gatsby. She doesn’t understand why she is there and asks if he is in love with her. Then he says, ”That's the secret of Castle Rackrent”.

2. It gives a background to the characters from the story and foreshadows the secret of the castle will be revealed further in the story.

B. Literary Element use and effect in 2nd piece of literature

1. In the poem, there is foreshadowing when the author states, “while crime was ignored by the money it spends”.

A. Literary Element use and effect in novel 1. Everyone in town went to the parties that Gatsby threw, but not one of them attended his funeral when he died. 2. Gatsby spent his whole life trying to become wealthy and when he did become wealthy, he still didn’t find happiness.
