“Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future and renders the present inaccessible.” According to this quote by Maya Angelou, prejudice is a problem. Prejudice appears throughout the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. This theme is relevant in real life because in today's society, prejudice shows a lot with people being judged by their looks, culture, or even race. When Elizabeth is adopted by the Frankenstein family, she is looked at in a different way than all of the other kids. These quotes show us how if you're a seducing woman how differently you get treated by other people, compared to if you were an unattractive woman you would get treated as if you were invisible or get treated terribly. If you're an alluring woman, you are receiving more attention than others. This shows prejudice because being attractive or people making you think you're a good looking person can increase your ego and make you overly confident.
