Peer Critique: Maisey M. Your presentation on Second Salem Brewing Company was done very well. You seemed to know your material, and was well prepared. If you were nervous, you definitely didn’t show it. Throughout the whole presentation, you were very calm and relaxed. You kept a steady rate and maintained great eye contact. Some people tend to look only at the professor when giving in-class presentations, but you looked around the whole classroom which I was very impressed by. Your knowledge on the company was great. I think working at Second Salem really helped with that. You knew already had extensive knowledge about the company, which probably made it easier to make the ads. You also already knew your client which made it easy to get
In the article of Daniel Richards, the author mentions about in-class peer review. Daniel shows the readers about two types of students who were facing the in-class peer review. One student acts very nervous and he is scared about being shamed if he read his draft in front of his classmates. Other student acts like very confident about his writing and be ready to show his classmates how good he is in writing. In-class peer review exists some social factor about feeling. It may get hurts, the emotion of your classmates and your teacher, feeling shamed when your classmates rate your draft bad. However, the feedback from your peers will motivate your writing somehow. You will know which your weak side and strong side are, then you use it in order
The presentation was also an impressive experience. I never made a presentation in front of “foreigners” in English before, so I was very nervous, however, the feedback from professor and other students was very important. I used the form, short story, but after the presentation, professor told me that I cannot use short story as form and some students suggested me to use an advertisement to convey my message. My project’s goal was also kind of ambiguous.
Americans have embraced debate since before we were a country. The idea that we would provide reasoned support for any position that we took is what made us different from the English king. Our love of debate came from the old country, and embedded itself in our culture as a defining value. Thus, it should not come as a surprise that the affinity for debate is still strong, and finds itself as a regular feature of the mainstream media. However, if Deborah Tannen of the New York Times is correct, our understanding of what it means to argue may be very different from what it once was; a “culture of critique” has developed within our media, and it relies on the exclusive opposition of two conflicting positions (Tannen). In her 1994 editorial, titled “The Triumph of the Yell”, Tannen claims that journalists, politicians and academics treat public discourse as an argument. Furthermore, she attempts to persuade her readers that this posturing of argument as a conflict leads to a battle, not a debate, and that we would be able to communicate the truth if this culture were not interfering. This paper will discuss the rhetorical strategies that Tannen utilizes, outline the support given in her editorial, and why her argument is less convincing than it should be.
Peer editing groups offer a fun, effective way to develop your writing and revising skills – skills you will need throughout your college experience. Specifically, such groups give each writer a chance to write for an audience other than the professor, and when you know your peers will read your draft, you often think ahead about how you can interest your audience and explain your ideas clearly.
One of the most important resources of a business is its advertisement team. Due to the fact that people can and will buy your product only if they know about it.
It is my opinion that people, for the most part, could and very well should be more critical. This is especially true when referring to the consumption of information. Unfortunately, many people do not share this viewpoint and shy away from being critical, because criticism, by it’s own definitions, carries negative connotations. So, people avoid being critical, for fear of being labeled “nitpicky” or a “downer” amongst friends and colleagues. This is unfortunate because it promotes a lack of critical thinking that can be every harmful, even on a smaller, more personal scale. Too often people blindly accept what’s on television without ever having taken their own initiative and carried out their own personal research to get the bigger picture. It is
Teenagers who overly criticized by their parents may suffer from low self esteem; especially when it’s done in a demeaning manner. Constructive criticism is a better technique used to correct mistakes or any disagreement with teen agers. Teenagers with low self esteem tend to engage in negative activities such as bullying, smoking, drinking, or disordered
Throughout life you will make a countless number of decisions. From small decisions like what to wear, to huge decisions like deciding when is the right time to have a baby. And throughout your journey there will be people who judge your decisions. Then, you might question yourself and think “Did I make the right choice?”, but you must not let others’ criticism get in your way. You will always receive criticism but it is up to you to decide how you will handle and capitalize off it. Not all criticism is bad. People will give you constructive criticism to try and help you improve yourself. You should then take it into consideration and make changes to better yourself. Accepting destructive and constructive criticism is something we must all learn to do because it is part of our daily lives.
Introduction Peer evaluation is a term that gives a description of the assessment progress that allows learners to self-evaluate their performance together with that of other learners. Peer evaluation is a valuable assessment that is required by the organization. Any firm that implements peer evaluation has records of high productivity. The company uses information from the outcome of the assessment to improve the working conditions of the workers. In addition, learners who are beneficiaries of peer evaluation have the task of assessing the thinking capability of their peer members and measuring how their contribution could benefit the organization.
In the end, my team and I got an A- for our presentation and paper. I believe that this project was completely successful and although there were some difficult times throughout the process, I am proud to say that we all stayed committed to the project. I feel that this was my most significant leadership experience because I used everything I learned through my experience in business organizations to make this project come to life. I felt that I showed the qualities of a good leader because I was determined, motivated, worked well with the team, delegated tasks to the team effectively, and communicated with the team to make this project
After I completed my rough draft, I was a little apprehensive about the feedback that I was going to receive from the peer review. I knew that I had done plenty of research and had good sources to support my focus, but I was unsure if my persuasive argument and the focus of the paper were received as I intended. I knew going in that I fixed my in-text citations, works cited page, thesis, and reformatted my paper to include more of a persuasive focus. After I received feedback from the peer review, I had mixed emotions about my rough draft. I found out that my citations were still incorrect and my thesis is not properly structured to support my argument. I spent a lot of time going over the MLA formatting and style guide from the Purdue Online
Throughout life you will be faced with all types of different scenarios. Whether positive or negative it is imperative that you know how to react accordingly to those types of situations. All my life I have been faced with both positive and negative criticism. As a young girl I did not handle it very well, but now as an adult I now know that my family and friends only had my best interest at heart. Now at the tender age of 32, I try my best to instill in my kids that the world we live in can be cruel and harsh at times but we just have to make the best out of everything that we may choose to do. Everything that is done has a consequence. Criticism can be good or bad but some people avoid giving or
Teachers use this discipline when a small intervention failed to motivate students. In this discipline teachers implement strategies to stop misbehaviour when it has already occurred and redirect behaviour into positive way (Mclnerney & Mclnerney, 2002, p. 250).
No one likes being told what they are doing wrong. Some people know how to accept criticism in a positive way and begin to make changes. Some people don’t know how to accept criticism; they always get offended when you tell them they are doing something wrong. All criticism is a way for people to help you or give advice on something you may not be doing right. People want to see you doing the right thing and learning more.
Peer groups are one of the most impactful social forces that most, if not all, adolescents will experience in their lives. The teen years which range from thirteen to nineteen years of age are known for the drastic mental, physical and psychological changes that accompany them. During these years, it’s common for many adolescents to experimented with different styles, hobbies, drugs, etc. in an effort to “find themselves”. It is also common for parents to disagree and find faults with what their children are doing and in these situation, peer groups peers are where adolescents find support and acceptance. Peer groups usually consist of people who are roughly the same age, have a similar socioeconomic status (SES), and interests. Kiran-Esen
