Essay 2 Most obstacles that people face are more vindictive than what they actually seem. My obstacles that I have overcome are very interesting and how I got where I am today. My life has drastically changed over the years and I’m happy that it has happened to me. The obstacle that has happened to me was basically in school during my younger years, i wasn’t smart nor was I confident in myself to accomplish anything and it slowed me down. Most things that people have problems with in life is paying bills, scared of things that they don’t understand, or they don’t have a good background to get a job. Me, I was scared of school the first day in my middle school year I cried because I didn’t want my mom to leave my side and that I was embarrassed that no one would like or be friends with me. I was distant for two years because I didn’t want to be friends with anyone because I was self-inflicted to where I would hurt myself with a knife or I would think things that most kids don’t think. I never really understood why I did it but I did, and my mom never understood either which made it even worse. At school I was failing and I wasn’t smart enough to pass because I degraded myself so bad that I honestly didn’t care about life anymore, and it was slowly eating me away. …show more content…
I felt worthless because of my mom's new husband and I never got passed the fact of what had happened that night. At school my grades where getting worst and so was I. I had to make a decision that would drastically change me forever and I went to see a therapist because they help people overcome what has happened to them. Mine helped quit doing what I was doing to myself and I had finally got better, I quit cutting, I also stopped getting bad grades and I was getting smarter
Adversities are often given a negative connotation and view, as most consider them to be hurdles which impede progress. Nevertheless when taken in and accepted under a positive light, adversities can serve as stepping stones through which an individual can better their character. In the face of looming obstacles individuals who persevere come out of the situation as stronger, determined, and more hopeful for the future.
The obstacles which we must face are not there to hinder our daily life. They are there to provide countless opportunities to obtain greater success. In order to be successful we must look at every obstacle as a new opportunity.
Adversity enhances ones’ positive characteristics due to the provision of an ideal environment for establishing integrity and developing a mature mindset. This conclusion is valid because people tend to learn from their mistakes, thus gain a broader perspective on life.
In all parts of life there are periods of adversity that we must face, the real challenge however, is what and how we gain from conquering those trials. There have been many times that I have been faced with adversity, it has happened in all aspects of my life at one time or another. Whether it is dealing with the ups and downs of hockey or balancing the pressure that comes with an elite hockey schedule and high school, there are always obstacles. Some of these challenges can bring about positive effects that influence the path of one’s life. In one such experience of mine, the amount of adversity was not near as great as the positive out come that came from my experience.
Most people tend to let ones anxiety control him, their fears scare them and obstacles get in their way. If one lets this get in his way, then there’s no possible way that he will be able to overcome his obstacles. For example, a great artist named Phil Hansen had been diagnosed with nerve damage and he let his obstacles get in his way of creating art. In addition to this, a journalist named James Collier suffered of anxiety and he let his anxiety control him. Hansen had to embrace his shake, Collier overcame his anxiety and I had to overcome anxiety at a certain point in my life as well. Having that said, overcoming obstacles will allow one to surpass his.
As a child my parents worried about my educational development. They didn’t know if I was going to be able to keep up with the other children. I was in the third grade and didn’t know any English. I struggled academically my remaining elementary years to catch up to the other children, but it wasn’t long until I exceeded my peers in middle school.
Adversity is a prominent part of life and literature, and it is something that everyone has to face at multiple times in their lives at all different magnitudes. However, what they earn from conquering these trials is worth a lot more than what would have to be sacrificed in order to get there. No one gets to their objective without having to make changes to overcome an obstacle, but all the hard work involved in achieving where you want is really what makes it pay off.
In life, people will always have something to say about you in everything one does in life, either negative or positive, but it’s the moment when you let what is said upon you affect the way you live your life, that when its becomes a problem. I for myself have been victim of so many people saying things about me and letting get into my head, but I had the courage to overcome a lot of obstacles like that. I have struggled with a lot of obstacles in my life some got the better of me while I have been able to overcome most of them. I am writing this essay to give an example of an obstacle which I struggled with for a very long time and I nearly took the best of me, but with time I was able to overcome it.
I remember the question that I had to answer in my essay was “If there has been some obstacle or bump in the road in your academic or personal life, please explain the circumstances.” Another thing was how it could be no more than 500 words or 7,000 characters. At the time when I wrote this it was last year and I was still a senior in high school and very eager to get into a university. Since I was so desperate to impress my audience I had to make sure that everything I wanted express went into those 500 words. I even went very personal in my essay talking about my childhood and the “bumps in the road” that I overcame in my life. For example in my writing I mentioned the hard work that I put into school and said “I had spent the past seven years working hard and challenging myself in school just so I can graduate high school with honors, get into college, and be one step closer to making my future better.” This showed the people that were reading my paper a sneak peek into my life and who I was, how dedicated I was, and how much I was determined to get into the
Throughout the entirety of my life I always have and always will face obstacles: I am a girl, I am African-American, I have a disabled brother, I have a single parent. Though these aspects of my life have created challenges, I am proud of who I am and I love my life. These challenges have molded my character and shaped me to be the person I am today and without these obstacles, I might not have been as driven to succeed, despite what has happened in my life that may have caused me to
Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam, are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I did the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges, creating the person I am today.
It started as simply as I told myself that I was dumb or that I was weird and that's why I didn't have any friends. In my middle school years I often got bullied because I lived with my grandparents, my classmates didn't know the full story. During that time, I also experienced many people around me dying. One death in particular hit me hard, my uncle passed in a car crash. Overall, he was the one person who always had made forget all the bad that was going on around me, and he was gone. I didn't have anyone I felt comfortable talking to about my experiences so everything continued to build up inside and eventually my thoughts became so bad that I came to a point where I was ready to commit suicide. Luckily, someone opened up to me and eventually I opened up to them. This person helped me off that ledge, and they saved me.
In my 17 years on this earth one theme has been consistent, Adversity. Things always have been harder for me, from receiving acceptance to getting fair opportunities. Now this word “adversity” can make or break most people and can take them to a point of giving up on their dreams. However, for me, adversity has been my biggest motivator. It has made me mentally stronger and a greater competitor. I will never forget the turning point in my life where my perspective changed and altered the way I go about doing things.
Have you ever wondered if there could possibly be overwhelming obstacles in the way of someone being truly successful in life? Some may witness friends or loved ones not developing to their fullest potential in their profession because of these unobtainable obstacles holding them back. In “Professions for Women,” by Virginia Woolf, Woolf gives a speech to a group of women explaining why they must overcome certain things in order to be successful in their future professional careers. In speaking to this group of determined young women, Woolf explains how horrendous it may be to have your own thoughts or beliefs while living in a society said to be dominated by males. She
Obstacles are the essence of any problems in life. A successful life means the obstacles you have faced have been overcome. However, what if you are not ready to face them? What if you face them but you couldn’t overcome them? These are questions that everyone faces.
