1.2 A motor skill is a physical skill that has a taught structure of movement in muscle groups that work together to perform a smooth, efficient action in order to develop on a particular task. The development of a motor skill happens in the motor cortex, the area of the cerebral cortex that controls voluntary muscle groups. During the volleyball lessons we undertook training drills such as the three on three game play that helped us keep control of movement in a small environment for the muscle groups to perform the skill properly.
A sub program also known as subroutine is a set of instructions set by a coach or individual that is designed to perform a regularly used operation within a program.

1.3 My skill levels in volleyball
A skilled performer in volleyball exhibits the stages of skill acquisition in three stages that are, the cognitive stage, the associative stage and the autonomous stage. Its stage separately identifies the basic or understanding stage of skill learning, intermediate or practice stage of skill learning and the advanced stage at which skills are performed reflexively.
My skill level in volleyball is believed to be at a low associative level. This is because as a participant in volleyball, I know the skills needed to perform well but cannot always perform the super-high level and play effectively most of the time.

My skills in volleyball are at an associative level, but I cannot always perform at that level due to some poor skill levels. But, practice time isn’t enough for this terms volleyball lessons to improve my skill level as it is only for 10 weeks. “The structure of your practice is the main reason for your success or lack of success as a coach” says Bobby Knight, and if practice is set by a coach/teacher along with my fellow class mates or team for this period of time every week, it will greatly effect practice every week to a higher practice plan for an achievement to an autonomous level.
Recommendations for future learning and predicted outcomes
Recommendation to future participants in volleyball is to take part in practice drills for achievement in skill performance and game play. This is because during volleyball practice I had a greater thought of what the skill should look like to perform and there for there was a greater chance of achieving it correctly.
I have played volleyball for 5 years. I have played school volleyball for five years, and club volleyball for four. Throughout my years of playing, I have recognized a significant difference between club volleyball and school volleyball. I have played for two clubs in my four years of playing club. The first two years, I played for a club named Platform Elite. The last two years, I have played for Iowa Select, and this year I am playing my club season with Infinity X. Personally, I prefer club volleyball over school volleyball. Club volleyball and school volleyball can be compared in three different categories: price, competition, and “politics” within the sport and its’ players.

Volleyball represents my most meaningful commitment not just because I have invested so much into it, but also because it it’s a passion of mine and has been a part of my life since elementary school. The impact my coaches and teammates have had on my life has helped make me the confident and determined individual I am today. Volleyball also takes up a lot of time and there are many sacrifices that come with the sport and playing on a team. To keep up my skills, I have had to give up a lot of my free time and parts of my summer. Balancing school with practices was also a challenge, but participating in one of my passions made it worthwhile. I have persevered through difficult times and learned new lessons along the way, so there is nothing that could make this sport less meaningful to me. (148)
The tactical games model is an instructional method for a physical education class, the outline for a tactical game unit is set up as follows. The first step in any Tactical games model is to choose a sport for the class to play, team sports such as basketball or soccer typically work best for this model because they present the players with more tactical situations. Rather than full sized games your class will benefit more from smaller groups and faster paced games, any tactical issues a student is having during the sport will become more apparent this way and therefore easier to address (Pill). I felt depleted, I thought that I had finally gotten the hang of my emotions on the court. In return she stated, “Mistakes will always happen, you can't ignore them, but you also can't get caught up in them. I know it is hard, but you have to learn because that is how you get better in sports if you want to continue playing.” This thought whirled around my head for the following months; if I wanted to really excel in volleyball I had to finally fix my attitude, for the better.
Visualisation is the most common and effective technique used within mental imagery in sport (Harmison, 2011). To do this you envision yourself executing physical sequences of the sport (Harmison, 2011). It has been shown that visualization helps the athlete to perform at a higher level, through increasing traits of the ‘ideal mentality’. In the process of visualization your must imagine correctly and successfully all aspect of the motion, going through frame-by-frame and using all senses. She has been practicing the game ever since she was a little girl, by trying to improve in her weak spots, completing vigorous training programs with her fitness coaches, and perfecting her serve until it hits consistency. The Journal of Sport Behavior states that “when task-oriented, an individual focuses on learning, improvement, and meeting the demands of the activity” (Eisenbarth & Petlichkoff, 2012, 388). Williams refers to herself as a student of the game, telling reporters that she is “always yearning to learn more”. Fine motor skills are movements of small muscles in the body such as the hands. These skills are harder for the infant to develop due to lack of control over these muscles. Some fine motor skill movements are writing, pointing, grasping, holding, and reaching. Fine motor skills are little movements and gradually develop as the infant grows.
There are many aspects to the game of basketball and physics can be applied to all of them. Although to be good at basketball it is not necessary to play it from a physics point of view. Basketball players become good by developing muscle memory for the actions that must be performed in the game of basketball from years of practice. Nevertheless knowing some of the physics in the game of basketball can help a good player be a better player. In this paper I will cover the three most important aspects of the game, shooting, dribbling and passing.

A lot of times, sports seem like a contest of physical skill― a test to see who is the fastest or strongest, who has the best eye or the most endurance, who can jump the highest or can handle the ball the best. What a lot of people don’t know is that there is so much more to a sport than just the muscle and coordination. In order to excel in a sport, an athlete requires a lot of self-discipline, concentration, and self-confidence. It’s the mental factor that makes a difference. Former Olympic gold medal-winning decathlon runner Bruce Jenner once said, “You have to train your mind like you train your body” (Gregoire 1). Success or failure depends on the mental factors just as much as the physical ones. The training of the mind of an athlete is called sports psychology. The use of sports psychology has a huge impact upon an athlete’s performance. The mental skills of a sport are just as important as the physical skills. All professional athletes use sports psychology. “If they aren’t currently using it, it’s almost guaranteed they’ve used it in the past, even if they are unaware they have” (Davis, Stephens, The Exploratorium 129). It’s hard to find an experienced athlete who hasn’t used sports psychology, because without it, they probably wouldn’t be where they are. The use of sports psychology is a crucial step to becoming a successful athlete.
When coaching athletes of the many things you do not want to happen is overlearning. Overlearning is when the practice goes beyond the amount needed to achieve a certain performance criterion. Extended practice of relatively simple skills could result in learners not continuing to engage in appropriate amounts of cognitive efforts. Players will being to daze off, become lazy in their efforts and not pay attention because they find the practice irrelevant. To prevent overlearning use a distributed practice technique, hold shorter practices and greater number of sessions with breaks in between. Next, you need to organize how complex you want your practice to be. If it is complex, start slow with isolation on the parts of the skill and progress to doing the entire skill, if simple then do the whole skill. Use any keys necessary in order to help the athletes learning process, visual, virtual, or written. Another way to improve practices is to make sure athletes have plenty of mental practice or strength. Have them mentally visualize themselves doing the skills that they performed in practice, it will help them to remember what they learned better and possibly increase their performance next time in
This research task requires that, through participation in skill learning and game play during the volleyball unit we have been required to observe and analyse the characteristics of skilled performers; receive feedback on weaknesses in technique and develop and participate in training activities that could correct these weaknesses.

Throughout my early childhood, I went through several different phases. I practiced an abundance of different activities such as: dance, baseball, tumbling, gymnastics, and even baton. However, none of these sports or hobbies stuck. That is, until I discovered volleyball. Never have I felt the love for something as much as I did this sport. Volleyball has had an unimaginable impact on my life in so many ways. I would not be the person I am today if not for this sport.
