Martin Luther King Jr was very passionate about equality. He was always determined to fight for what he believed in and he wasn't going to stop until everyone was treated equally. Some things Dr. King so firmly believed in were, the rights for the sanitation workers, the direction of the civil rights movement, and the importance of achieving equality. Dr. King comments “ Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand with a greater determination. We have an opportunity to make America a better nation. “ By standing up to Memphis for not being honest and fair in their dealing with the sanitation workers, he wants to show that as a whole we need to force everybody to see that there are thirteen hundred of God’s children
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was one of the greatest civil rights leaders to ever live. Through his empowering speeches, he made a huge impact on the world for the equality of all races. Throughout King’s life, he showed everyone how he believed equality should be acquired. With his peaceful protests and amazing speeches, he influenced people both during his time and after he passed. Many believe that King’s work in the Civil Rights Movement was the final push that America needed to finally respect people no matter their skin color.
Distinguished civil rights activist, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in his speech, “Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution” addressed the issues faced by African Americans in the 20th century. King’s purpose is to persuade African Americans to strive for freedom and equality by ‘remaining awake’ through nonviolent measures. He adopts a commanding tone in order to urge his audience to be aware of the current situation.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of his time. He saw that segregation was wrong and decided to do something about it. He endured through hard times, all the while working to better the lives of others. With his help many people began to take a stand against the racial inequality and injustice against African Americans. He left a lasting impact and improved the lives of thousands living in America and changed the future for those yet to come.

In 1963 Martin Luther King Jr. delivered the speech “I have a Dream,” in attempt to end all racism throughout the United States. Baptist minister and Civil Rights Activist, Martin played a pivotal role in ending the legal segregation of African American Citizens throughout the south and other areas of the nation. Not only was he a part of that, but he also was a part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and he fought for African Americans voting rights in 1965. King craved for a nation that accepted each other for their personality, rather than their skin color. He wanted all men to be equal, as the Bible says to do. After Robert Kennedy pulls him aside to reverence the change that has occurred in him being ‘woke’, John explains why People like Kennedy make his dream for America come true. John speaks, “It showed me something about Robert Kennedy that I came to respect: even though he could be a little rough—ruthless, some would say—he was willing to learn, to grow, and to change.” (Lewis and Aydin 152). John has dedicated his life to this movement—giving up an education and other possible opportunities to address injustices among his brothers. In the text, the

Martin Luther King impacted American society in many ways and one of the most important things he did for America was weakening racism in America. At the time when he was living, colored people living America were treated differently with white people. For example colored people needed a pass to go through certain places, they could not go to the same school as white people and it was much harder for colored people to get a job compare to white people. Martin Luther king thought these were wrong. He also thought these were against American dream. For him American dream meant every people having equal rights, opportunity and freedom. Dr. Martin Luther King lived in a time of Racial Segregation. He grew up with people scorning him simply because of the color of his skin. When he began a family of his own, he had the dream that life should be better than he had it. He marched protests and gave speeches, speaking his dream to everyone who would listen. His most famous speech being the “ I have a dream speech… ”. This speech spoke of his dream that all men were equal whether they were white, or black, or any other color of skin. That was his American Dream.
As you know, our offices are closed each year in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. This year, the company is organizing a service project for that day. We will clean up the Grove Street Playground and planting bushes, bulbs, and flowers. The company is donating new playground equipment and park benches. Cleanup gear and tools will be provided, and a cook out will conclude the days’ activities.
There have been many great activists in history, fighting against the oppression of African Americans. Martin Luther King Jr is famous for his “I have a dream speech” that took place on August 28, 1963. Furthermore Dr. King led to the ending of the legal segregation among black and white people. In Dr. Kings essay “Three ways of Responding to Oppression," he clearly states three ways to deal with oppression. Dr. King believed the best defense against oppression being that of nonviolent resistance. The film Iron Jawed Angels (IJA) has also been a great example of oppression with the struggle for women’s rights in the United States. Mr. King stated that there are three ways of oppression that oppressed people deal with, acquiescence, physical
