Loyalty to something or somebody is considered to be honorable and in the play, Romeo and Juliet, there are different types of loyalty that are portrayed, but the one that comes up most often is the case of extreme loyalty.
For example, Mercutio’s extreme, unreasonable loyalty of friendship to Romeo leads to both his and Romeo’s demise. Mercutio unwisely begins a conflict of a duel with Tybalt because Tybalt insults Romeo, his best friend. The concept of extreme loyalty comes up when Mercutio starts a duel between him and Tybalt, which is the turning point in the play where everything starts to go downhill. Without the death of Mercutio, Romeo would not have killed Tybalt in angry, thoughtless loyalty to Mercutio and he wouldn’t have been
