In life some people suffer devastating failures because of the actions that they make. The book The Pearl by John Steinbeck is about a pearl diver named Kino finds the pearl of the world and thinks it is the best thing that ever happened to him. He is blinded by the power and wealth of the pearl and it leads to bad things happening. At the end of the book his son dies and then he realises how bad the pearl is a throws it into the ocean. Hillary Clinton is a political figure that has been the first lady, the secretary of state, and almost the president of the United states of America. She is clouded by the power to be the president so she makes decisions that she lader regrets. One example that shows that Kino projects his family is when he tries to protect his baby coyotito from the scorpion by trying to catch it before it landed on coyotito. After the scorpion stung his baby he punched it into the floor “He threw it down and beat it into the earth floor with his fist” (6).This shows that Kino is protecting his family. Kino is also grateful and sees good thing when he finds the pearl on page 19.
Hillary Clinton had a good life before she ran for president. Before She ran for president she was the first from 1993 to 2001 after that she a us senator from 2001 to 2009. She was also the secretary of state from 2009 to 2013. This shows that she had a good history of politics before she ran for president in 2015. Even though people think it’s not “normal” for a female to be president anything is possible. Clinton went to both Wellesley and Yale colleges. When she Yale, she studied to be a lawyer, which she would later become. She eventually found her way to marry. Clinton married William “Bill” Clinton in 1975, and had a child Chelsea. The former President Bill would later become president and that led her to becoming the first lady. As you can see she had to balance a lot in her life so far.
To summarize this analysis, Hillary Clinton shows us how as we unite, the stronger our bond is. She uses clever ways to show this action. The goal of Hillary’s speech is to persuade her audience that her ideas are valid, by using ethos, pathos, and logos. Hillary is the First Lady and Senator, she shows credibility as an influential activist for woman rights. “Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a half years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing women in my country and around the world” (Clinton 2).
He is driven by greed, so much so that he could even see dreams form in the pearl. Kino is the head of a modest household and until he finds the pearl he lives a satisfied life with all he needs for his family to be happy. As soon as Kino finds the pearl he starts to want possessions he never wanted before. He dreams of education for Coyotito, marrying Juana in a Catholic church, purchasing new clothing for his family, and getting a harpoon and a rifle for himself. “It was the rifle that broke down the barriers . . . for it is said that humans are never satisfied, that you give them one thing and they want something more” (Steinbeck 32). Located within a small poverty-stricken community, a pearl diver named Kino finds “the Pearl of the World” and becomes suddenly rich, he begins to want items that he thought were impossible before. As Kino thinks more and more of what the pearl can do for him, he starts to think that it will raise his social status as well. This is only the beginning of Kino’s greediness, for the more he gets, the more he will want, and this begins to dehumanize him. Kino focuses on the wealth of the pearl and causes him to change his values about life. In the beginning, Kino is only focused on his family, once Kino finds the pearl he becomes more focused on the pearl, rather than his family. Kino cares a lot more about losing the pearl rather than something bad happening to his loved

This issue is common among female candidates, and this expectation has certainly impacted Clinton’s campaign. Despite her background as Secretary of State, Clinton is continually questioned by her opponent about her strength. Considering Hillary Rodham Clinton’s upbringing in the 1950’s suburban and very conservative town of Park Ridge, Illinois, it is difficult to imagine that it could have been such an influencing factor in her future liberal political identity. (Caroli 2014). Clinton came from a middle class family that valued hard work and self-reliance. Her father, Hugh Rodham was seen as a controversial, although influential figure in her life. As a strict Republican, Rodham was staunch in his values and was a dominant patriarch. While described by Clinton as ‘critical’ and ‘pretty tough’ (Clinton 2003: 19), Hugh was also regarded as an oppressive father who rarely showed affection or approval to his children. However, Rodham did believe that all his children would not be limited in opportunity or skill, especially Hillary, just because she was a girl. Regardless of his old-fashioned values Rodham pushed Hillary to achieve. Growing up among household chores, summer jobs and vacations spent visiting coal miners. Hillary’s future ability to identify with the working-class would be attributed to Rodham. (Bernstein 2007: 21).
Feminism in John Steinbeck’s The Chrysanthemums. At first glance, John Steinbeck’s "The Chrysanthemums" seems to be a story about a woman whose niche is in the garden. Upon deeper inspection, the story has strong notes of feminism in the central character, Elisa Allen. Elisa’s actions and feelings reflect her struggle as a woman trying and failing to emasculate herself in a male-dominated society.
At first we learn Kino only wants the best for his family and gets the pearl only for medicine. Then, as the story continues he starts wanting more for himself and for his family. For example, he says he wanted a gun and wanted to get married, even though they are happy as they are. Not only does he start wanting more, but starts acting differently. Juana starts to see these changes in her husband, so she tries to throw the pearl away. The way Kino reacts to this is by Sprinting after Juana and to stop her he punches and kicks her. This shows how he hit his own wife just to stop her from throwing a material. Then he doesn't even have to kick her, but he does out of greed and frustration. Then later in the story he starts to care again for the family, but as long as he has the pearl he still is ready to fight or even kill for it. In the story Kino would not sell the pearl to the pearl buyers because he knew it was worth more than what they were offering them (50). When Kino did not sell the pearl because of his greed, he did not get the money to save his son. This shows that he cared more about the money than his family. If Kino had sold the pearl and gained the money he would have had enough money to save his son and all of the problems would be over, but because he cared more about the pearl and the money than his son, he did not seize the money. Therefore, he puts the pearl and the money above Coyotitio. An example from the text is “Kino’s face grew dark and dangerous. “It is worth fifty thousand,” he said. “ you know it. You want to cheat me” (50). This quote shows that when Kino’s face got dangerous, he had already lost sight of his family values and is only thinking about the money and the pearl. When Kino knew that they were cheating him, he could not help but pick a fight with them. He wanted money, money, and more money instead of wanting to help his son.
