When reflecting on a style or philosophy of leadership, transformational would be the most appropriate fit to describe the writer. Transformational leadership is defined as a method that effects change in individuals and social structures (Anonymous, N.D.). Bass and Avolio (1993) describes transformational leadership to be characterized in four factors: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration. In this article, the writer will discuss various areas relating to conflict, working with others, delegation style in regards to transformational leadership. This type of leader self-worth is not in a self-serving manner, but have a sense of purpose, which is a great strength of their leadership (Bass and Avolio, 1994). Transformational leaders energize their followers, by doing so when they delegate responsibility to their team, the members are able to pursue organizational goals in a broad manner (Bass and Avolio, 1994). As a transformational leader, when the writer works with their followers, they encourage the members to be self-sufficient to accomplish the organization vision and doesn’t micromanage them. These are areas that were addressed in the leadership questionnaire, where organization ranked highest in style as a leader. The concept of transforming/transformational leadership is the process in which the leader and follower help one another to develop a greater level of morale and motivation (Anonymous, N.D.). According to Burns, the transforming approach was to generate substantial change in the life of the people and organization to aspire the followers (Anonymous, N.D.). Through further research, Bass transformational approach measured the leader in terms of their impact on the followers. The qualities of the transformational leader presented trust, loyalty, and respect towards their followers. These results from the leader offered more than self-gain, but inspire followers to a mission to visualize their own identity within the organization, by being successful within the team and those they are serving.
