Do you want to be a hero? Well I sure do. Teen activist do that exactly. Teen activism is when a teenager or a kid, stands up for something that they want or sometimes need. It takes hard work and determination to be a teen activist. Such as what Malala, Alex and the other Alex did to help freedom for girls to go to school in Pakistan. Alex lin helping recycle and Alex libby helps other people being bullied. I believe that teen activist are determined for these reasons.
One reason that teen activist are determined, is they never give up. For example when Malala was walking home from school a member from the taliban attacked her. They shot her in the head. Thankfully she is still alive but paralyzed on that side of her head. Alex Lin’s bill
Malala and Frederick were both persistent when they fought for what they wanted. In Narrative Life of Frederick Douglass , Frederick got captured the first time he tried to run away. Even though he got captured, that didn't stop him from trying again. In ‘Excerpt from a Speech to the United Nations,’ Malala did not stop speaking out even though the Taliban shot her. It quotes, “The terrorists thought that they would change our aims and stop our ambitions but nothing changed in my life except this: Weakness, fear and hopelessness died.
Generally when you think of a hero, who do you envision? Most likely, you picture a strong and imposeing figure, someone capable of performing in high pressure situations, demonstrating bravery and passion to help his/her fellow man. Those who typically fit that role in society are firefighters, policemen, and soldiers. Those people deserve all the credit and recognition they receive for their courageous acts. However, what about individuals or groups who aren’t necessarily on the “frontlines” physically protecting others and saving lives, but who work extremely hard to improve the lives of others in some way? These everyday people deserve credit as well. After all, to the people they help, these volunteers or activists are heroes. An example of such a group is the Greensboro Four, a few African American college students in the early 1960s who helped change the landscape of segregation in the Jim Crow South.
Recently, students of Olympian High School have stumbled upon the question, "What is a hero?" In the school's 2013 Young Minds Essay Contest, students are expected to consider universal concerns and ideas. Many times when people think of a hero, they think of Superman, Batman, and many other Marvel characters who display unattainable superpowers. However, heroes are prevalent throughout the world. A hero can be anyone who has the desire to help others, brave in dangerous situations, and does not look at exterior gain from helping others.
Anyone can truly be a hero, even in real life. Heroes can be people who simply have an idea and decide to grow onto that idea and have it done. For example, Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi were real life heroes who started out as ordinary people but had a dream and made a huge difference in the end. Nelson Mandela, a Civil Rights activists, once said, “We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in your hands to make a difference” (Lazaro). Nelson Mandela was trying to say that anybody can make a difference, but it is up to that person or people to make that change. One simple change could cause any simple person to have a major change in lifestyle just because they decided to step up and do something. Furthermore, anyone can be a hero, it doesn’t matter what one’s background is, one can make even the simplest of changes and become a hero to oneself and the people around them.
What comes to your mind when you hear the term hero? Is being a hero preventing villains from corrupting the universe? Yes, a hero is someone that stands up and tries to protect others from being harmed. In the book, The Outsiders, the Greasers proved to be the heroes of the story. It shows that no matter what your background is, you could always turn into a hero. They also showed that no matter how poor you are, you can still be a hero. The Greasers that I think showed bravery and fearlessness were: Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally.
Heroes. Everyone wants to be a hero, but sometimes, people lose sight of what a true hero really is. It does not have to be someone who flies around and saves innocent people from perilous monsters. A hero is simply someone that inspires others. In Alexie’s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Junior was a hero because he rose above the expectations the world placed on him through his courage, passionate determination, and sympathetic perception.
On the way to their prom, there was a horrific car crash. 20 teens exited their white stretch limo to help the people that were hurt. They worked together as a team to evacuate the cars and bring people to safety. Once everyone was taken care of and everyone was safe, the teens continued on to their prom to enjoy their night. All of the teens that helped save the victims of the car crash are heroes. What is a hero? There are many different types of heroes. Whether it is a teacher that helps a child realize what they wanted to be in life or a firefighter that saved someone from a burning building. A hero is someone that would risk everything to save only one person. A role-model that everyone should aspire to be. Not someone that manipulates
Teen activists are inspiring and helpful. They are the ones who are determined to make a difference in the world. They are the ones who never give up on their dreams and hopes. Through their thoughts, sacrifice, determination, and their inspiring heart, they make the world happy, so everyone can live equally. Three teen activists, Malala Yousafzai, Alex Lin, and Iqbal Masih, use their personalities and inspiration so that they can stop unfair education, pollution, and child labor. They are willing to sacrifice to help the world and change history.
One of the ways I see a hero is by someone being a catalyst for society change. That shows someone making a difference in life. One example shown is by Sherman Alexie where he talks about growing up reading books at home in Superman and Me. Most of the people in the reservation he grew up in didn’t feel like moving up in the world, Sherman was different than the others due to the reason that in his world a very smart Indians shows a lot of danger in their society for that even today tribes believe that “a smart Indian is dangerous” (Alexie 294). The danger of intelligence in their society means that either that they’ll no longer be a part of their society or that they could try to take over parts of their society.
Any people can become an activist. I always hear adults saying “You’re too young to be an activist” and all that other dumb stuff they say. Imagine if you’re best friend was shot at a school shooting. Would you not protest over your best friend being shot? This shows that you care for someone and want to CHANGE gun control or whatever happened that you are protesting. Protesting is when you don’t agree with what someone has done and you rally on the streets trying to change a law about what happened. Some sites that showed people about activist and people who were activists was How To Become An Activist (wikihow) and Malala(Time for Kids) .
Being an activist is not something simple to do , you face many struggles along the way . One struggle may be that you may hit a stopping point which could put you in a bad place and you may not want to continue being an activist . The second struggle may be that you notice you can't do all the work on your own . The third struggle is that you may not have the patience to see the changes that you will make in the future . Teen activism has its ups and down but that's what make it a learning experience .
Teen activists are determined to change something that is happening or going on in the world that is not right to them. Teen activism is where someone wants to change something to make a difference in the world or the community they live in. To become a teen activist you need to have a plan or a goal on what you want to change and how you're going to do it. Some examples of teen activists are Faye Carey and how she is determined to stop animal abandonment, Alex Libby and how he wants to stop bullying, and last but not least Malala Youtifanzi and how she helps girls right to an education.
Have you ever thought that teenagers were just rude and lazy? There are some teenagers that like to try to help other people. Cell phones for Soldiers and Food That Fuels differs by what they do to help others but both help with saving money.

What is a hero? Some think that a hero is a person who has supernatural powers who would save the day from the bad people, such as Batman and superman. But there is more to that, a hero is someone who puts an impact on the world or people and changes it to the better. According to Merriam-Webster, “a hero is a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” The word hero is derived from the Latin word heros and from the Greek hērōs. Bullying is the main reason why teenagers around the world commit suicide and those who step up against bullying are said to
