NATHAN (whiny baby) Oh hell no! It’s getting cold and I’m hungry! I am freezing my ass off. TIAGO Well you wanted to come along, suck it up G.I. Joe.
BRIAN I agree with Nathan, maybe we should head back. AMANDA(O.C.) To hell are we going back, we came this far. Amanda stomps closer. AMANDA(CONT’D) We are going to find Carlos and we’re going to bring him home. JUSTIN She has a point, he literally stole our supplies. Amanda gestures to Justin. Justin grins. EXT. ANTARCTICA - DUSK Tiago pulls to a halt. TIAGO(CONT’D) Justin, is there anywhere we can find shelter? JUSTIN I don’t see anything. Tiago sighs. TIAGO Maybe we should turn back. JUSTIN By the look of it, might as well. Otherwise we’ll get caught in an unexpected blizzard. Nathan chimes in. NATHAN Holy Shit, what’s that? 47. EXT. ANTARTICA - ABANDONED SETTLEMENT - MOMENTS LATER Tiago, Justin, Brian, Nathan and Amanda come to a halt outside the settlement. Tiago gestures to them to stay and keep quiet. He motions for Justin and Nathan to follow. They enter the settlement, hands on their torches and knives. Brian moves closer to Amanda. BRIAN Amanda. Amanda holds up a hand. Brian quiets down. Tiago pops out of the settlement. TIAGO It’s good to go. INT. ABANDONED SETTLEMENT - NIGHT The crew finally settled in, a fire going. Nathan’s stomach rumbles, candy wrappers littered on the floor around him. He clenches it. NATHAN I’m hungry. JUSTIN You just ate. Justin gestures to the wrappers. Nathan groans. NATHAN But I am really hungry. Amanda pokes the fire with stick. BRIAN We all are. Amanda glances up at Brian, gets up and moves away. Tiago frowns, he follows Amanda. INT. ABANDONED SETTLEMENT - CORRIDOR - CONTINUOUS Tiago strides up to Amanda. Amanda keeps her back to Tiago. TIAGO You can’t keep ignoring me forever. (CONTINUED) CONTINUED: 48. AMANDA I can. Amanda shines her torch over the walls. Blood stains the walls, old claw marks scraped over the walls. AMANDA (unfazed) Seems like something got a hold of them in here. TIAGO Polar Bear? AMANDA Hopefully whatever it is - It’s gone. INT. ABANDONDED SETTLEMENT - COMMON AREA - CONTINUOUS Nathan holds his stomach. BRIAN Don’t we have anything to eat? JUSTIN No. NATHAN What? Yes we do. JUSTIN What are you getting at? You ate the last of it! NATHAN We have the dogs. Justin stares shocked at Nathan. JUSTIN Out of the question. NATHAN What, they are there, they don’t care... They’ll eat us if we die. JUSTIN Yes and I will watch them do so if you touch one of them. Justin goes quiet. Tiago and Amanda returns. TIAGO Out of the question. Let’s all get some sleep.
The intentions of Nanabush within the story are good, but in the process of achieving his goals he creates a lot of mischief in the surrounding community creating a bad outcome. Nanabush’s intentions involve helping Maggie, and because he is so infatuated with Maggie Nanabush definitely has no intentions of hurting Maggie. Nanabush had made a big promise with Lilian to bring magic into Vergil’s life, and many of the things he does are to fulfill this promise, but in the process stirs up many problems within the community. When Wayne and Vergil get involved they are rather aggressive, and because of Virgil’s Blindness to the truth he is convinced that Nanabush is bad, and that he must be stopped. Although this was to honor a promise Nana bush has just made himself more trouble. Nanabush’s Intentions are good, honoring a promise with Lilian, and helping Maggie, however his actions produce bad effects on the community at times like Wayne, and Vergil’s actions which oppose Nanabush, and slow himself from completing his own goals.
Go back to screaming and cursing, remind me again how everyone betrayed you. Sylvia, get your head out of the covers. Let me take your temperature, you can throw the thermometer right back at me, if that's what you want to do, okay?”
One of the most prominent faces of Disney, Cinderella was most famously known for singing ‘A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes’, in which she proclaimed that “the dream that you wish for will come true”. However, when the Disney movie graced the screen in 1950, the film conveniently left out the parts in the original story in which the two sisters, desperate for the Prince’s affections, chopped off the heels of their feet and were later blinded by vindictive pigeons. As was with the sisters in the story of Cinderella, in the classic tragedy Romeo and Juliet, seemingly happy things hide an undercurrent of maliciousness, and dreams are often cruelly broken by reality. William Shakespeare uses Mercutio’s “Queen Mab” speech in Romeo and Juliet to

In the poem “The Double Play”, the author uses metaphors, words, and phrases to suggest turning a double play in baseball is like a dance. Some words throughout the poem could be used to connect the idea of a double play being like dancing. One word that could suggest this is, the word used “poised”, “Its flight to the running poised second baseman” (12). Poised in this sense could mean that the player knows what he is doing and has mastered the double play, while a dancer can be poised meaning light and graceful. Another word in this poem that relate to a double play and dancing is the term “pirouettes”, “Pirouettes / leaping, above the slide, to throw” (13-14). The player is described to be doing a pirouette in the double play while in the
“Momma!” I whined across the room, “I’m starving.” She always hates when I whine at her, I do it now just to grind her gears. She was lying on the couch so I laid my head on her lap and naming of foods that sounded good to me.
I’m Freda Josephine Baker born to Carrie McDonald and Eddie Carson on June 3rd, 1906, in St. Louis, Missouri, but most of you may know me as Josephine Baker. At the age of 12 I dropped out of school to become an entertainer, yes yes, I remember it like it was yesterday, I was young and ready to become a star. I grew up cleaning houses and babysitting for white families, and they always reminded me “be sure not to kiss the baby”. When I was 13, I got a waitressing job at the Chauffeur’s Club, which was where I met my first husband, our marriage was very brief; I had never hesitated to leave anyone, never depended on any man for anything, that’s for sure.
I sit here waiting, waiting for the day for the I can be free. Free from work, free from these awful people, free from everything. I wish I could just settle down at my own place where I can grow my own food, farm my own land, be my own boss. I already dont have to worry about Lennie getting in any trouble. I guess I'm halfway there. It could just be me on my own, on a little farm, with some chickens, maybe some pigs or a cow. I can grow my own food. I know how to cook, I’m not too bad. I can teach myself some things. I can even go into town every saturday and trade in some of my things. While I'm there I can visit Lennie's grave, maybe bring him some pretty flowers. Oh I'm sure he would like that. I really do miss that sun of a gun.
As I stand here is Stanley's arms and hear my sister inside, I have so many thoughts that run through my head. I wish Stanley had not told Mitch about what he found out about Blanche's past. I saw how they were getting along, the adoring star's in Mitch's eyes everytime he looked at Blanche, and the contradicting peace and excitment that came over Blanche everytime she waited for Mitch to come and see her. If given time they would have had a chance. A chance at love and happyness. Not the kind of love that hits you like a freight train, like me and Stanley. But more of the gentle love that flows and mingles until it connects two people to the point that they are inseperatable. Everyone has something in their past that they are not proud of and try to hide. Though I am reluctant to beleive the stories that Stanley tells about my sister, I must admit that there could be some truth in what he says, even with his great dislike for my sister, he would not hurt me deliberetly in this way with mistruths.
Any one can think that motif is just a decorative pattern but it can be more of symbol or words. My motif is seed/plant/flower which can mean growth, new beginning, and who you are. When you start out you have to start at the beginning of your life. When you start growing you learn what to do survive and how to handle situations better. plant fully mature to show the flowers, it show who you are and what you have became. All of these show what my motif means to me.
The community that I am going to talk about is Nanaimo. Nanaimo is located on the east coast of Vancouver Island, BC Canada, 113 km north of Victoria and 23 km west of Vancouver across the Straight of Georgia. It has the specific coordinates of 49o 09’ 51” N and 123o 56’ 11” W. Nanaimo has various names. The first visitors from Spain called it Winthuysen Inslet or Boca de Winthuysen after the Spanish explorer. The first English settlers called it Colville Town after Andrew Collville, governor of the Hudson Bay Company. The HBC established a fortified post in 1849 and discovered coal in 1852 which led to a permanent settlement. The building of the Bastion occurred in 1853. The city was incorporated in 1874.After coal mining peaked in the 1920s, forestry and the pulp and paper industry replaced it. The aboriginal Salish who lived here called it Snuneymuxm which meant gathering place. The name Nanaimo was the English corrupted version of the Salish name. It is called the Hub City or Harbour City because of where it is located. It also has the unique distinction of being the Bathtub Rac...
Sexism is still very much real and ongoing. It is being dealt with and is bettering compared to previous generations, yet, there is still left to take care of and inequality is an issue without a doubt. Feminism is the advocacy of women 's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. It is an old movement, but recently started rapidly growing worldwide. We live in a mans world ruled by men whether everyone would like to admit it or not. As feminism grows and more join the movement, ‘matriarchy’ is a term that comes up often. Matriarchy is what’s defined as a society ruled by women. This plays in the gender roles of society, and the expectations and stereotypes set on one based off their gender. One is expected to
I’m sitting behind him, the boy who everyone wants to know, has to know and does know. He’s a mystery to us all, especially his eyes. God, they were beautiful. He has heterochromia, where one of his eyes are blue – blue like the scarf my grandmother gave to me, a beautiful baby sky blue. His other eye, was brown with a small spot of the blue from his other eye in the corner. Everyone know his name, Kian Sherwood. Most people believed he was gay because he never spent time with anyone else, but Matt Somerhalder. They were closer than I am to my food and my bed; practically glued to each other. Kian was always popular in conversation, the blonde boy with gorgeous eyes that spoke Spanish fluently. Everyone girl wanted to be his, hell probably
Are humans the products of nature, or are they products of the way that they are nurtured? Do human genes dictate the kind of person that one becomes? These are some of the questions that have continued to plague humanity. These questions have given psychologists, philosophers and scientists’ material in which to work with. Willa Cather in her short story Paul’s Case tries to answer some of these questions in a skillful way. However, she does not offer a clear resolution; this is according to the interpretations given by her critics.
