Giving others who do not suffer from autism or caregivers an insight on how the individual may be feeling and what they are going through. This book can also help numerous medical professionals such as speech-language pathologists and pediatric doctors. As Grandin stated in the book that not all sufferers act, think, and feel the same so this novel may not be beneficial to readers who are looking for information on a wide scale of individuals who suffer from the illness. She also stated that there is no cure for autism, however some medications can help with some symptoms such as depression or anxiety. What intrigued me the most about Grandin was that she never gave up and worked on her social skills. Not only did she became a spokesperson for autism, but also became a professor at Colorado State University in which both require public speaking and being comfortable in front of people.

Introduction I want you all to ask yourselves how far you’re willing to go to be the best at the thing you do most. For some people, the choice they must make is going to be a very big one with very real side effects. I’m sure many of you watch professional sports and the Olympics. I’m a very big fan of sports and I researched this topic because I find it incredibly interesting how far these athletes are willing to go to be the best at their craft. Although I have never done them, I passively gain knowledge about performance-enhancing drug usage in sports and the effects it has on the body every day.

You look up to to the sound of the rain pitter patter and see a huge, dark rain cloud. Somehow, the rain is hitting your window, even though in the past, your roof has blocked the rain from doing so. I believe that this internship opportunity will provide me with insight on whether or not I will specialize in working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in graduate school and in my future career. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a peer mentor at Rockhill Elementary and I appreciate that each week I spend with these children presents a new challenge. As I mentioned earlier, each child at Rockhill is on a different level on the spectrum and is stimulated in a different way. I find it to be an exciting challenge to learn how to engage each student in a way that suits them the best. I have developed a special place in my heart for these smiling children and look forward to spending time with them each Friday. I am
My present ambition to pursue a Master’s Degree in Mental Health counselling not only originated from working with students with various disorders on the Autism spectrum, but a more personal first-hand experience with Autism. My daughter Asia was diagnosed with Autism 3 yrs. ago. I first noticed some unusual traits my daughter had within her 1st year of life, having a background in Psychology and working extensively with adolescents with autism led me to hypothesize, investigation and enquiry about developmental delays and Autism. After my exploration I seek medical advice hence her early diagnosis and treatment.
