Example Of A Settin Setting

1985, 2:30 in the afternoon, downtown Greenville; these are all settings. The setting of a story can make a big difference. Whether it is a dark and stormy night; or a bright sunny day, it can change the mood of everything.
“As we stand in the cold rain, on this dark night; waiting for the bus. We hear the shadows whispering and the wind howling. The full moon shining so bright as the wolves sing their song.” How did that passage make you feel? Scared? Creeped out? Those feelings you felt were caused by the setting of the passage. The dark night, cold rain, the bright full moon; all of those were examples of ‘eerie settings’; but, read this. “Oh, how the fluffy green grass feels beneath my bare feet. The beautiful sunflowers blooming before me. I look up to the sun, as it gives me a warm kiss on my cheek.” This passage showed examples of happy or warm settings. They make you feel good; making you never want to leave.

Setting doesn’t only affect the way we feel when we read; but also, how we feel and do things in our everyday life.

For example, if it is raining outside; one thing people might do is put on a jacket or a raincoat. Let’s add pouring rain to the mix, then you might put on some rainboots. When you get in your car, you will turn your windshield wipers on. Now, lets change the setting. It’s a beautiful sunny day; but it is also a little warm. You might throw on some shorts and flipflops and roll the windows down in your car. One more time, its dark outside. Your porch light gets turned on along with the headlights to your car; and you make sure no scary monsters are lurking in the

dark.
My goal of this essay was to show you just how much setting or the change of setting can affect the way we feel and live our everyday life. Along with the way we feel when we read books or watch movies. The sky being blue, or the dark clouds pouring rain; they both change our mood and the way we feel. They also affect what we wear and the things we do. Scary music, or an upbeat tune can easily whisk our emotions. Setting is one foundation that life has in order to make everyday life normal and different. Without setting life, books, movies; anything and everything would be bland. For example, on the days you wanted the sun to shine and wear shorts; it wouldn’t happen. The world would be set to a specific temperature, with the same amount of light and color every single day. But, with setting; life is interesting. With different types of weather and seasons, and new places to go. In conclusion, I wanted to show just how important setting is in our everyday life. Setting often goes unnoticed in books, tv shows, and life in general; despite how important it is.
