Tigers are a kind of panthera, along with the lion, leopard, jaguar, and palonesis panthera(snow leopard). They are the largest of cat species. Tigers are found usually in Asia, but you can find different kinds of them all around the world. I will be using a Tiger to describe the conflict between the two theories of evolution by Darwin and Lamarck and using Darwin's theory I will be determining my opinion on tigers future. Darwin believed that the changes that animals make during their life doesn’t affect their species or offspring. He believed that all species are different, and that these variations help them to survive and have more offspring. Lamarck believed that if an organism changed during life in order to adapt to its environment, …show more content…
This helps them when their prey is looking for them. Another one would be their sense of hearing. Their hearing is so good that they are able to hear sound waves below the range of normally audible sound. Tigers use their infrasound to communicate over long distances or dense forest vegetation because the sound is capable of passing through a variety of mediums like trees and mountains. Tigers didn’t have these two adaptations over a long time ago, they adapted with their environment and ways of living. Darwin would react to these adaptations in extreme happiness if he were to see tigers adaptations over time. Darwin believed that animals wishes have nothing to do with how they evolve which would explain a tigers evolution over time. Technically, tigers would be totally different if each generation inhabited traits that a parent physically obtained. Lamarck would react to these adaptations in extreme disappointment, he would be expecting so much more. He believed that if an organism changes during life to adapt, their offspring would automatically have those traits. He would’ve been expected for tigers to have been evolved these adaptations, and to be extremely …show more content…
According to scientists, tigers are going extinct because of mutations occuring in their DNA. The scientist state that there is a single mutation in a single pigment gene found in white tigers, a specific kind of tiger. One of the reasons why scientist also believe this is because those tigers that are in captivity that are inbred to produce more, they are left with health problems and lead to the tiger mutation which is a genetic defect. Based off tiger symbiotic relationships, I can infer that tigers might be on the top of the food chain but a leopard would go for one of them. It is also said that tigers give an organism called the Japanese Lung Fluke, a place to live though the tigers lungs are damaged from it, killing them off. Tigers found in Bangladesh and India are on the edge, a new study by WWF scientists found serious climate change that can affect the habitat of these tigers. This all because ocean levels are continuing to rise. This climate change in there ecosystem could reduce the habitat by 96% meaning that more tigers will be fighting (death) over land, and there will be a lot less food and

Lamarckism can be used to explain the evolution of polar bears from brown bears, specifically skin and fur color. Lamarck’s theory stipulated that a characteristic (brown or white fur color) which is used more by an organism will become stronger. One that is not used disappears eventually. Change occurs when polar bears want to change. If a polar bear’s phenotype changes during life in order to adapt its environment, those changes are passed onto its offspring. Therefore, these changes are inherited, meaning that the stronger characteristics (brown fur) are passed down to many generations. As a result of this, the less effective characteristics (white fur) will be slowly reduced in frequencies and stronger

Any inherited, genetic change in a population which takes place over several generations is defined as Biological evolution. Darwin and Lamarck have contributed majorly to the evolutionary theory. Although Lamarck’s theory was unsupported, he probably provided inspiration to Darwin and many other enthused scientists.
Live theatre has been an important method of entertainment, self-expression and storytelling for centuries and still plays an important part in modern society for the same reasons however not all performances will successfully entertain, express or tell their story. The first and one of the most vital features of a successful show is the performances of the actors. To assess the performance of an actor there are many aspects that one must consider, I believe the most important to be vocalisation, physicalisation and characterisation. I will be critiquing The Bengal Tiger at the Bagdad Zoo, the story of the lives and afterlives of the people and animals caught in the middle of a war torn country, as performed by Persona Collective at the Annexe Theatre on the 10th-12th of April, on the performances of John Swindle and Amanda Phillips.
Tigers are the largest members of the cat family. They live in Asia and belong to the same genus as the lion, leopard, and jaguar. Two major subspecies of the tiger are the Siberian tiger and the Bengal tiger. The tiger is thought to have originated in northern Asia during the Pleistocene Epoch.
India is a country of stark contrasts. The rich and the poor live in different worlds yet often side by side. The live in daily contact with the rich, often working for them. Aravind Adaga attempts to address these themes in his book, the White Tiger: A Novel compelling cohesive narrative. He tells the story of Balram, a young poor man of with a strong moral foundation. The books shows his slow descent from that moralistic young man, to one who throws aside his family his principals and murders a man in order to escape the rooster coop. IN this book, The rooster coop is a clear analogy to the poor of India, with the Butchers representing their masters. This is the voice of despair. The author is trying to
Lamarck’s and Darwin’s theories are considered to be the earliest in history, and all the theories that followed are said to be based or to have derived from these two fundamental theories. However wrong, Lamarck may now be believed to be, still his theory is important as it predicts transformation in his times. Therefore, the Lamarckian theory has to be taken seriously and contrasted with the Darwinian theory. The first remarkable difference between the two theories is that Darwin’s theory was a selectionist theory of evolution, whereas Lamarck’s was an instructionist theory of evolution.
The theory of natural selection is not limited to inheritable and beneficial variations of a species. It also relies a great deal on the population growth and death of a species. For a species to continue to exist it must make sure of a few things. It must first produce more offspring that survive. If this is not done then the species is obviously going to die off. It is also important for the species to propagate at such a rate as to allow for variance, for it is variance that will ultimately allow the animal to exist comfortably in his surroundings. In his studies, Darwin was led to understand that “…the species of the larger genera in each country would oftener present varieties, than the species of the smaller genera;” (p. 55). Thus the larger species would adapt while the smaller one would not. And to quote Darwin again, “…if any one species does not become modified and improved in a corresponding degree with its competitors, it will soon be exterminated.” (p. 102)
A society that a person lives in can affect the way he behaves. In The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga, the Indian corrupted society has demonstrated how a society can change a person’s character and style of living. For instance, Ram Persad has to hide his true religion that he is a Muslim in order for him to work as a driver in Indian racist society. Balram has transformed from an obedient servant to an indifferent murderer who kills his own master because he is irritated by the inequality between the rich and poor. Balram’s conversation within himself in the novel reveals the corrupted side of Indian society and how that society has transformed Balram from a faithful servant into a callous
Tiger is a wild animal and usually thrives on the top of the food chain within its original ecosystem. They used the chasing feeding method, in which they chase their food. In the wilderness, the preys usually are large, hooved, and of high quality animals such as deer, antelope, or even horse in some cases. The term “tiger” are derived from the Latin word tigris, in which it mean “a spotted tiger hound of Actaeon” (Harper, 2014). This “big cat” falls within the genus Panthera, where some researchers suggest that it was derived from old French word “pantere” that mean “the yellowish animal”. According to Pocock (1939), this species are named as Panthera tigris. In South East Asia, some of the major names that implement the official rules and regulations for the captive managements are the South East Asian Zoos Association (SEAZA), TRAFFIC Southeast Asia, and World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Besides that, one of the important international agency that regulates and improves the wildlife policy is the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) and they had implemented several plans that benefits the survival of selected endangered species. One of their plan that benefit global tiger population is the Species Survival Plans (SSP), in which they focused on reinforcing the wild population and at the same time, establishing and prioritizing research, conservation, and management activities (Association of Zoos & Aquarium (AZA), 2009).
In conclusion, Lamarck’s theory involves adaptations to create new variations, followed by the inheritance of these characteristics, while Darwin’s theory involves random hereditary variation first, followed by the selection of the variation. Genetics has disproven Lamarck’s theory on the basis that characteristics acquired during the lifetime of a parent are not passed onto the offspring. On the other hand, Darwin’s theory failed in explaining why a beneficial change-the loss of functionality of the appendix, for instance- can be passed generation after generation. However, Lamarck and Darwin both believed that life is continuously changing and that organisms change to be better suited to their environment (Mills 2004:119-121).
George Bernard Shaw quotes, “When a man wants to murder a tiger, he calls it sport, when a tiger wants to murder him, he calls it ferocity.” In the 1900s the tiger population was over 100,000 counting all nine subspecies; however their population has pummeled to an estimated 4,000 to 7,000, which accounts for only six of the nine subspecies. Three in which have already been extinct since the early to mid 1900s (WWF). Tigers are one of the largest species in the cat family and also one of the fastest disappearing species in the world due to human-tiger conflicts. Consequently, they have been labeled endangered under the Endanger Species Appendix and critically endangered in the wild (Fox). Tigers are rapidly disappearing, growing near extinction therefore as the superior species of the world we are obligated to save the tigers from endangerment and potential extinction because the tiger’s existence is significant in creating a balance in the world’s ecosystem.
This provides a legal safety net to stop and slow down the loss of plant and animal species. They hold federal agencies and others accountable for complying with laws protecting rare/endangered animals using persuasion and cooperation. They recommend increased funding for private landowners and conservation programs that could benefit animals. They protect and restore habitats that were lost. NWF also reduces threats to wildlife that can lead to endangerment including loss of habitat and pollution. India is now halting tiger tourism to prevent extinction of the animals. About 1,411 of these animals live in the wild, and they are in danger of being “loved to death.” Experts fear these big cats will become extinct in only five years. Poaching is the main reason for many deaths, but tourism has also impacted the tigers. The tourist vehicles drive away the tigers prey and hotels have been built over passageways the tigers used to travel from one place to another. Alligators, Bald Eagles, Wolves, Grizzly Bears, and Whooping Cranes were all saved by the U.S Endangered Species Act (ESA). The WWF is addressing the major threats to Australia’s
