Evironmental Law: Enforcement Measures and Effectiveness
Pollution, why is it still running rampant in our environment today ?
Are there no laws to control or stop it ? In regards to these questions,
Canada has a great many laws to stop and regulate pollution. But despite this, why is it still happening. What are Canada's so called enforcement measures and are they effective ? We have the Environmental Bill of Rights and the Canadian
Environmental Protection Act, just to name a few. Sure some polluters break these laws and get caught, but all they get is a slap on the wrist; why is that
? Some even have the gual to pollute again. Acid rain and hazardous wastes are just two of the many problems plaguing our environment today, but nothing is really being done about them; why ? Finally what is the polluters point of view in all of this ?
To begin with, in some areas there are both federal and provincial legislation to ensure that companies and individuals respect the environment.
Federally the central piece of legislation in Canada is the Canadian
Environmental Protection Act (CEPA). "CEPA is the consolidation of five statutes: The Environmental Contaminants Act, the Air Quality Act, the Canada
Water Act, the Ocean Dumping Act, and the Department of the Environment Act." (
Muldon, 1995, p. 23) The CEPA contains important penalties and sanctions; provisions for the collection of information and for evaluation; provisions for the control of importation and exportation of toxic substances; and provisions for the reduction of wastes, the cleanup of coastal zones, the protection of the ozone layer; the reduction of acid rain and urban smog; and provisions for the development of regulations. All provinces and territories have enacted their own legislation, establishing general environmental rights and responsibilities; but the level of environmental protection established is not equal all across
Canada. Generally, it can be said that each province and territory regulates the discharge of contaminants into the environment by requiring licenses and permits and by invoking penalties. The regulated matters include environmental impact assessment, waste management, drinkable water standards, and land conservation.
(Morrison, 1991, p24) Also, provinces and territories deal with several other matters i...

Envision yourself entering a toy department and noticing numerous diverse aisles. In one aisle, you encounter toys packaged in complementary and color triads colors that include building sets (such as “LEGO”, “LEGO Super Heroes”, and “Angry Birds”) and a wide selection of action figures—Spider Man, Transformers, The Dark Knight, Power Rangers, etc. In the next aisle, adjacent to the aisle with complementary and color triads colors, you find toys packaged in shades of pink and purple. These toys range from “Hello Kitty” dolls to “Barbie Dream” house play sets. Inside a toy department, such as Toys R Us, it is extremely difficult to retrieve a toy that is not marketed explicitly or subtly by gender. If toys were marketed only according to ethnic and racial stereotypes, many individuals would be infuriated. However, we come across toy departments that are highly, as well as strictly segregated—not by race, but by gender.
For example, Tony had little over 50 lbs of weed or marijuana his first offense would automatically get between 1-10 years in prison with no bond and no parole, plus he would have to pay a 10,000 fine. Basically, if he shows good behavior and go through some kind of class there he wouldn't be granted to get out early.Yes, their are being charged harshly due to the fact that there isn't any control over the drugs and there isn't a company that can take away their half. On the other hand, when it comes to pedophile aka sex offenders if it’s their first offense and depending on the what degree they commented they would somehow get parole and not get sentenced harshly. Say if Jacob took 13 year old Kalya and sexual penetrated her, he would be charged with 2nd degree which will give him 20 years. However, they would shorting his time by giving him parole hoping that he wouldn’t pursue the same behavior. Honestly now since states are starting to let some of the drugs legal like weed and marijuana they need to fix the sentencing and the charges. With that being said they can give they some kind of parole of some sort and view of the laws do distribution and selling the drug. In fact sex offenders is needed to be sentenced harshly and get no kind of parole due to the fact there are hurting a
I noticed the girls’ toys engaged fine motor skills more than the boys’ toys did. The girls have several different types and sizes of dolls to choose from – however, this also makes dolls or items used with dolls (Barbie clothes, doll clothes, doll houses, Barbie cars, and doll furniture) over half of all the products in the girls’ section. This shows the stereotypical attitude that all girls like to nurture and will someday be expected to be mothers and the primary care giver for their children. Other toys I noticed that were very stereotypical were the child size vacuum, broom, and kitchen set. Even at this young age we teach girls it is part of their role to cook and clean.
The criminal laws of the United States are more intent on protecting the rights of criminals than penalizing them. Today’s inmates live better off than most American citizens who are often working two jobs just to meet paying their taxes. A criminal can literally get away with murder because of a technicality, police can barely interrogate suspects without the suspects’ lawyers stating some legal issues that prevent further investigations. It almost seems that the very people who do not respect the law are above it.
To begin with, toy stores play significant row when it comes to the gender socialization process in children. I recently visited a Toys R Us in a shopping center near downtown Redwood City. Although It is located on the east side of Redwood City the shopping center is fairly neat and seems to have a wide variety of shoppers. The store was rather big and neatly organized. The front of the store for the most part was gender neutral. It was easy to navigate through the story and find the girls and boys toys. For the most part, boys toys were in blue boxes, while girls toys were in predominantly pink boxes. On the one hand, the boys sections were dominated by darker colors like blue, yellow, and black. On the other hand, girls sections were lighter
... commit the same crime and based on each of the individuals characters, or how remorseful they are after the fact, explains why one may be sentenced more harsh than the other, this is definitely why first offenders usually get what we call a slap on the wrist.
Although there are many opinions on gun control related laws, the American Government should make more laws like the Georgia Gun Rights Bill. At first, this law sounds ridiculous, but with deeper thought, it could really work. This law would allow citizens of Georgia to carry firearms with them virtually anywhere (Simon). That’s right. Anywhere. Our reasoning behind why this act could be successful is simple; it equals the playing field. Criminals and those with mental disorders looking to harm others with use of firearms will be able to obtain possession of a gun one way or another, regardless of if it’s legal or not. So, when the time comes when there is an impending threat from a person with a firearm, other citizens will be able to defend themselves. This would enable responsible citizens to carry weapons to defend themselves against people who also have weapons and are potential threats. Furthermore, if the government made laws outlawing guns, it would not stop gun violence. A similar scenario are the laws against illegal drugs. According to CNN, a frightening 22 million Americans use drugs anyway. And the government thinks laws outlawing guns will prevent people from obtaining guns illegally? Not a chance. Obviously, the solution is to not take guns away from responsible citizens.
but it exists. There are so many laws to stop it. But, it exists and it will exist no matter how hard
It can’t be prevented: There’s a reason it’s called “the world’s oldest profession”. It’s always been around, it always will be. We might as well bring it out into the open.
...can also make people not taking the penalties seriously if the law enforcement are not willing to make the penalties more harsher than what they already are.
Our wonderful country is known for a lot of things, unfortunately, dumb laws happen to be one of them. When you think of dumb criminals you usually think of morons trying to steal an ATM machine (it never works people, give it up) or dullards who write their bank robbery note on the back of their personal check but, occasionally, it's the law that's dumb, not the offender. For instance:
First and foremost, gender marketing strategies and gender system’s play a major role in how toys are presented. Toys are usually advertised based on gender. While observing toys in commercials and the stores, male and female toys are displayed based on gender roles. Toys targeting males may come off as violent and aggressive by displaying bulky built action figures or realistic guns. This is the opposite with female toys which give off more of a calming, cleaning and nurturing feeling with their dolls and household toys such as houses, cooking and cleaning toys. Additionally, common gender classifications which consist of masculine and

People don’t understand that these crimes can ruin other people's lives. If someone steals someone's credit card stuff and drains their bank account. How is that person supposed to take care of their family? There are many different types of white collar crimes such as money laundering, bank fraud and embezzlement. There is a difference in these different frauds. Money Laundering is concealment of the origins of illegally obtained money, typically by means of transfers involving foreign banks or legitimate businesses. And bank fraud is the use of potentially illegal means to obtain money, assets, or other property owned or held by a financial institution. If we made it aware of the punishments for commenting a crime, then maybe that would stop people from doing
that will make them end up in jail won't commit the crime. But these crimes
