Remember that this is for the goodness of mankind. The majority of our population shall consist of males. 30 through 40% of the population will be made up of females and families that will raise females will be chosen by the government. With that being said, extra female babies that are conceived must be aborted. As a whole, the society believes that males will grow up strong and will be able to control and lead society in a well manner. Females will not be able to govern within this community. The injection works best within the first year and lasts an entire lifetime. If a person lies, steals, or cheats, then they will be imprisoned for 3 months. Their family shall also receive a reduction in their income for the current 3 months. However, if anyone commits murder, they shall be kicked out of the community along with their family members. If anyone practices religion, they will be beaten in public. If anyone breaks curfew, then they will be forced to do community service for week, starting from 6 A.M. through 6 P.M. If anyone refuses to follow and accept rules 5 through 11, they will be immediately kicked out after an appropriate punishment that is chosen by the people. If anyone is caught dancing, singing, writing creatively or playing sports, then they shall be beaten in public. If a person does not attend the yearly meeting, then they will be punished by giving a public apology the very next day. The community can also ask the person to do favors and the individual must do whatever action that is requested. If someone retaliates against the government, then their lips shall be sewn permanently together and their house will be burned along with their household items. Their house should be burned because the society will not want any traces left of the rebellion. After the house is burned, the
The above statement is somewhat mind-boggling. It is something that a revolutionist might have coined over 200 years ago and it leaves much to the imagination. It is about as close to being treasonous as one could get without actually committing the crime. The former Vice-President Albert Gore once stated that "the constitution was a living breathing document, open to change". His statement was quite controversial and it definitely created a stir with the patriot-cult crowd. Why would anyone want to scrap the entire Constitution of the United States of America? Has someone come up with a more impressive document that better signifies what this country is all about?
What would happen to the world if everyone in our society was equal in every aspect? Would this create utopia or hell? In this short story "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. America has finally achieved full social equality, and living up to the first amendment fully. In this futuristic society, handicaps force this equality, the strong, the beautiful, the intelligent are forced to wear weights, masks, and headphones. These constraints force equality among the American people from beauty and brains, to strength. Harrison is the symbol of defiance and individuality, and represents the aspects of the American people that still want to try hard, out do their peers, and show off their attributes. The story criticizes the policy of equality
An impartial society: Utopia or Hell? What would happen to the world if the people were literally equal in every aspect of their lives? In the futuristic short story, “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., the world is finally living up to America’s first amendment of everyone being created equal. In this society, the gifted, strong, and beautiful are required to wear handicaps of earphones, heavy weights, and hideous masks, respectively. Thus, these constraints leave the world equal from brains to brawn to beauty. With the world constantly pushing for equality among people, Vonnegut reveals a world that society is diligently working toward. Through this foreshadowing of the future, Vonnegut attempts to use Diana Moon Glampers and
The constitution was a document that embodies the fundamental laws and principles by which the U.S is governed. The constitution states basic rights for its citizens. Delegates signed the constitution on September 17, 1787. There is a total of 27 constitutional amendments. The reasoning for writing it was for a stronger federal government - legislative, executive and judicial. The constitution was a break with a past of ‘unfair’ taxes, wars and ‘unfair’ treatment.
Have you wondered what the world would be like if everyone was forced into the government’s opinion of equality? In Kurt Vonnegut Jr.’s story “Harrison Bergeron”, it is the year 2081 and the government has altered the society into being physically and socially equal. The most charming people are left to wear hideous masks, the intelligent are to be equipped with a earpiece that plays ear piercing noises, and the strong people have to wear excessive heavy weights so they resemble the weak. I believe that the society of “Harrison Bergeron” is not truly equal, because no one can be changed unless they want to be.
The gap between the rich and the poor is eliminated and everyone has the same wealth to make everything perfect and fair. All human activity goes towards benefiting each other. Private property and all private businesses are eliminated. Instead of working for yourself to make a living for yourself, you are making a living for the country or society that you live in. In document 3: Friedrich Engels says that “ above all, (the government). will have to take control of industry and all branches of production out of the hands of.
were put to death. Even though the original opinion of the people about the uprising wasn’t in favor of it, after the death of the leaders they were outraged. (Coogan,”Troubles” pgs. 19-25)
The document I chose to write about is the United States Constitution. When the thirteen British colonies in North America declared their independence in 1776, they laid down that “governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” The “colonies” had to establish a government, which would be the framework for the United States. The purpose of a written constitution is to define and therefore more specifically limit government powers. After the Articles of Confederation failed to work in the 13 colonies, the U.S. Constitution was created in 1787.
...with the number of children being produced at the same time and based on the amount of time placed in between each mating period. Finally there is the separation of the children from their parents at birth and their placement with nurses for the extent of their rearing. This creates a problem because it goes against the maternal nature of most women and does not explain what would happen if a mother refused to give up her child.
On August 26, 1789, the assembly issued the “Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen.” Through judicial matters, this document was written in order to secure due process and to create self-government among the French citizens. This document offered to the world and especially to the French citizens a summary of the morals and values of the Revolution, while in turn justifying the destruction of a government; especially in this case the French government, based upon autocracy of the ruler and advantage. The formation of a new government based upon the indisputable rights of the individuals of France through liberty and political uniformity.
This contract is simple: People from the general population are elected to form our representative democracy and run our country. Ergo, the government exists to be run by the people and for the people. The spirit of which is that we can apply self governance without a monarchy or oligarchy and that we will do what’s right for each other, since we each enjoy common standing. Such a government will not suffer dual standards and a hierarchy betwe...
Since surveillance cameras have been invented for security reasons at shopping malls and stores they have also been place in public areas such as stoplights, parking lots, hallways, bus stops, and more.
According to Thomas Hobbes, “man by nature is evil” because people have its diverse interest and selfishness that makes the world became a chaotic ground. Thus, people form a leviathan in which they surrendered their rights to the state particularly to the government to have not just simply equality, but merely justice and security. The government is the one who is capable and responsible in making and implementing laws and policies that must obey by all people to be able to live in peace and order. However, as we give our consent to this entity to serve as a mediator and tends to be the one who will balance and solve the conflicts among people, it became a great field for those opportunistic people to achieve power that they are using to expand their influence. That is one of the problems that the Philippine government is facing today, our constitution has a lot of loopholes simply because the elites and those political dynasties only have the power inside the government and the capacity to form laws which is basically favorable to them. But what will be the remedy to solve this problem? On the latter part of this paper, we will suggest a solution that will be a possible answer to the problem and help to attain the true meaning of good governance in the Philippines.
The sex of the baby or the chances of them developing a disease is then determined under a microscope. The parents can then chose if they want to keep the fertilized egg, based on the gender or the probability that they will develop a disease. A fertilized egg eventually becomes a zygote. Out of the zygotes that are created, the ones that are of the unwanted genders or diseases are discarded and the preferred zygotes are placed into the mother’s womb. Parents who would opt to choose the gender of their children would also approve of PGD and other methods because it gives them the opportunity to decide on modifications that will enhance their children’s life.
The foundation of the modern political system was laid in the times when the world was strangled in slavery. In those moments, enlightened minds in Greek came up with the new system that was there to remain for the next thousands of years. This system, now known as democracy, is a form of government in which supreme power is vested to the people themselves. People have the right to elect their leaders directly or indirectly through a scheme of representation usually involving periodically held free elections. A new democratic government is usually established after every 4-5 years, and it is trusted with the responsibility to cater to the needs of all the people irrespective of the fact that they voted for them or not. Although the minorities may not be very pleased with the idea of democracy, however, a democratic government is certainly the best because it establishes social equality among people, reduces the conflicts in the state to a minimum, gives the chance to vote repeatedly, and creates patriotism.
