During 1965-1972 North and South Vietnam went to war.The US intervened to prevent the spread of an evil government. During those time songs and news articles were made to try and verbally describe what was going on. The music description sometimes differed from the new press.
From 1965-1972 the US was engulfed in the Vietnam War. “Eve of destruction” by Barry Mcguire is a song where he practically is talking about how the war may bring world destruction and also how you're not old enough to kill but you are old enough to go to war. He also describes the easten world is nothing but explosions and bullets flying. He also expresses how many don't believe in the war. The song also talks about how the men were cold tired and all alone while being away from war. The next news article is from 1969. It discusses how the war was foreseen as prolonging and the american people were becoming content and just wanted it to end so the men could come home.This relates to the song in way how people fighting and not fighting were sick and tired of the war and just wanted it to end.many people in vietnam were cold sick and dying.
