PART ONE- What were the circumstances surrounding your servant evangelism encounters. I was riding to the grocery store with my close friend, Jordon, to help her shop for groceries to take to her sister’s track meet. We both had recently gone through tough break-ups, and were discussing that in the car ride over to the grocery store. Eventually, I began telling her how my break-up led me to a closer relationship with God and allowed me to realize that he has an unconditional love for us and that is why he sent his son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us. Once this conversation was initiated, I asked her the first five questions from the ‘Share Jesus Without Fear’ presentation. PART TWO- What was the reaction (questions/comments/statements) of the unbeliever? Once I asked her …show more content…
I would recommend this type of evangelism to other believers, because it is such a practical way to serve others and share the gospel with them. One way that I could have improved my encounter would be to have not been so nervous and to have had more confidence in allowing the Holy Spirit to provide me with the correct words to say. Through this encounter I learned that God is always true and will guide me in ministering to others as long as I have faith. I learned about myself that it is easier to evangelize to others with a proper knowledge. It definitely helped to have knowledge of the Dead Sea scrolls and other things that support the inerrancy of the Bible in this particular situation. In light of Jordon’s reactions to hearing the gospel, I told her that I would continue to pray for her and if she had any questions I would be more than happy to answer them or help her find the answers to them. I was able to share Christ with Jordon through my actions in serving her and in sharing the gospel with
Considering the cultural values of Joe, there are several factors which will influence how The Gospel is presented and revived. Joe is from a collectivist culture, so instead of presenting things as would generally be presented in an individualist culture I must focus more on the group benefit than the personal benefit. Joe will be more interested in how the group is affected, in this case I would focus on the benefit to his family and focus on the family aspects of Christianity. Joe clearly thinks in terms of group benefit, as he often uses the phrase “for the good of the facility” when addressing issues and proposed changes.
After seeing though the eyes of my pastor I’ve come to realize the importance of faith and committing to one’s beliefs. Returning to church after two massive losses has helped my mother in many ways and it has also taught me as a young man how small things that I could do would turn to have a big impact on someone’s life the same way my pastor impacted my life and the life of my siblings.
“Um sure,” she says. Jessica and I had no idea that this interaction would lead to a five year, and counting, friendship. Not only would we become great friends, but we would argue, fight, and “end” our friendship numerous times. Every argument, fight, or end of our friendship would typically stem from a spazz of Jessica’s emotions. Everything would be going just fine, and all of a sudden I see a text saying “Why are we still friends?” or “Don't text me ever again.” or the most common “I don't want to be friends anymore.”As one could imagine, hearing these things over and over again would stab me deeply in the heart, but I never pushed Jessica away. Something in my soul told me to calm down and try to understand why Jessica was doing the things she was. That something was the Holy Spirit. So, I put two and two together: these splurges Jessica had were an opportunity for me to manifest my magnanimous personality through the love God had for me. I realized I had to show her the same level of forgiveness that I had always received from Christ. From that point forward, I was patient, kind, and understanding with Jessica. I was able to cope with “losing her” every other week because I realized that that was what Jessica needed from me at the
In the essay, “The Second Great Awakening” by Sean Wilentz explains the simultaneous events at the Cane Ridge and Yale which their inequality was one-sided origins, worship, and social surroundings exceeded more through their connections that was called The Second Great Awakening also these revivals were omen that lasted in the 1840s a movement that influences the impulsive and doctrines to hold any management. Wilentz wraps up of the politics and the evangelizing that come from proceeding from the start, but had astounding momentum during 1825.The advantage of the Americans was churched as the evangelizing Methodists or Baptists from the South called the New School revivalist and the Presbyterians or Congregationalists from the North that had a nation of theoretical Christians in a mutual culture created more of the Enlightenment rationalism than the Protestant nation on the world. The northerners focused more on the Second Great Awakening than the South on the main plan of the organization.
Getting ready to walk into Anna’s hospice room, my anxiety level was escalating. Saying a quick prayer, I asked God to help me find the right words to comfort Anna and her family. Upon knocking on her door, a young lady in her middle 20’s answered the door. Opening the door for me, she informed me Anna was her grandmother and she would like me just to sit with her and that she would return after work. And she left. No get to know you introduction here, very formal, matter of fact, serious kind of girl. No one was going to invade her space. Oh well, I thought, I’m here to help Anna, hopefully Julie will open up later.
As my friend Jenni and I entered the hall of the big church, a feeling of apprehension overwhelmed us. Our feelings were soon comforted when we entered a sea of smiling faces and outstretched hands. A sense of belonging engulfed us. Ms. Shirley, an older colored woman was first to extend her arms. She did not know us from Adam, but it did not matter. She threw her arms around us. "You girls have the prettiest smiles", she declared. "I am so glad you came to be with us this morning." Words can not describe what the act of kindness did to our feelings of apprehension, and that was just the beginning.
...t way to evangelize is to be brief, get the message across clearly and allowing the non-believer to ask questions at their own pace. This will make the non-believer feel like they are in control and not make them feel bombarded with information.
The method of evangelism that I used for my witness report was the “Four Spiritual Laws.” I chose this method because it is simple straight to the point, and has facts that I believe cannot be disputed. It is also quick and simple to explain. How I started the conversation was simple actually, for a while one of my family members has been confused about if there is a god or not and the last time I came home we spoke about what I have learned down at Liberty. Thus I thought it would be a good idea to bring up what I learned during these past few weeks from this class. of course what I have learned from this class are different ways to evangelize and that is how the conversation started.
The Gospel of Luke centralizes the components of Jesus’ divinity, humanity, and ministry which contribute to the perception of Jesus portrayed by the narrator of Luke. Jesus’ divinity is demonstrated through his healings and miracles throughout the Gospel. His humanity is represented through the infancy narrative and also at the beginning of his Passion in the Garden of Gethsemane. Finally, Jesus’ public ministry serves as the most effective and important element of his life because of the essential teachings that he speaks of that give inside evidence to the formation of the modern day church.
It may seem a little bit strange, but my favorite place in town in none other than this beautiful Evangelic Church. However, it wasn’t always so.
Throughout the years, Jesus has been my rock. No matter what is happening in life, I have always been able to rely on Christ. Jesus gives peace in the midst of any situation. I have confidence that in any situation, Christ will provide for all my needs. My relationship with Jesus has given me hope for the future. I don’t have to live in fear, because I believe with all my heart that he has everything under control. The peace and comfort Jesus provides has been the biggest change since the moment that I began to follow Christ. These are aspects that were not evident in my life before becoming a Christ follower. These attributes that Jesus provides have influenced my actions and attitude in a countless amount of
...ollowing in my sister's footsteps, I began learning from her experiences. We tread lightly around the subject of the religion these days. Thankfully, there are no wild debates at the dinner table on holidays. We respect one another's beliefs and agree to disagree about them. She often tells me, "You should come to my church!" when I call her seeking sisterly advice or needing a sympathetic ear. I have attended her church and admire how she's strengthened her parish and community. That's more inspirational to me than any Sunday sermon - as she is one who sincerely lives in the word, even when it's difficult for her.
I was afraid, but I continued to pray and asked God for directions. Fay states, “God has called each of us to share our faith, in obedience. He has called each of us to evangelize. If one of your excuses for not sharing your faith is, “I don’t have the gift of evangelism,” then you need to examine Scripture. You find the command of the Great Commission to evangelize, to encourage evangelism, and to urge evangelism.” I really enjoyed spreading the gospel because it gives me joy. I am willing to meet the needs of people when given the opportunity. I love God and I love people. I am willing to go where God wants me to
I called Cornelia the following day and she asked me out on a date – it was to attend a prayer group that following Friday. It was then when I encountered and started to get involved with a Church ministry named “La Nueva Alianza” (“New Covenant”). I was encouraged to allow the Holy Spirit to be more active in my life. Because of God 's merciful Spirit, I proceeded to develop—through prayer, Scripture reading, and the Sacraments—a closer relationship with the Lord and a stronger appreciation and adherence to the teachings of the Church. Since then, I have had a passionate desire that God’s people come to know Him and love Him more fully. This desire is not only what has driven me to serve His people, but what made me receptive to becoming Director of La Nueva Alianza Ministry
Spiritual formation is one subject that I like to discuss in that it really helps one reflect on their own spiritual journey and where they are in that journey. The devil wants to steal, kill, and destroy any step forward towards God. He is not after anything tangible that we possess, rather, he is only after our faith in God and belief in Jesus. Knowing this is part of our spiritual journey as fighting against the enemy requires spiritual warfare in which the only one that can help is Jesus. A transformation in our character to be like Jesus is essential to our spiritual growth. This cannot be done without being intentional with our time, finances, and disciplines.
