The holocaust was such a gloomy, melancholy time. It was full of hatred, segregation, violence, etc. This was caused by the millions of Germans' beliefs that they, themselves were the superior race. Some races/religions were considered inferior- Jewish, prisoners, homosexuals, and others-and were sentenced to death. Not even taking into consideration what they have done. So, millions of innocent, law-abiding men, women, and children were slaughtered due to the strong manipulation of Adolf Hitler. Through all these terrors, heroes were born. People realized of the wickedness of the German doings and fought against it. One of the hundreds is named Giorgio Perlasca. He is also known as Jorge, this was given as a Christian name. January of 1933 the Nazis came to rule of Germany. Nazis believed that Germans were racially superior and seen Jews as a threat to their German racial community. Due to this reason, the Nazis created the Holocaust. The Holocaust is known as a time in history when Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazis and his collaborators killed to about six million Jews, through Genocide, Ethnic cleansing, deportation, and mass murder. But the point of this story is to tell the story of a young woman who I had the privilege to meet by the name of Anna Seelfreud Grosz who survived this tragic time in history.
There are many heroic individuals in history that have shown greatness during a time of suffering ,as well as remorse when greatness is needed, but one individual stood out to me above them all. He served as a hero among all he knew and all who knew him. This individual, Simon Wiesenthal, deserves praise for his dedication to his heroic work tracking and prosecuting Nazi war criminals that caused thousands of Jews, Gypsies, Poles and other victims of the Holocaust to suffer and perish.

The Holocaust was a very tragic time in history due to the idealism that people were taken from their surroundings, persecuted and murdered due to the belief that German Nazi’s were superior to Jews. Innocent lives were caught in a war that they were not able to stop. When Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933, he promised Germany that he would improve life their by getting rid of the one race that caused the problems, the Jews. Jews, including Jewish children, were sent to concentration camps, inspected, and if approved, were sent to work. All others would have been sent to be killed. Being sent to work did not ensure survival, children would be given very little food and water, and beaten severely, which caused their death. None of the children of the Holocaust will ever forget the experience they went through, they will always remember.

He could have gotten caught and given a warning from the Nazis and he still wouldn’t let that stop him from still saving the Jews. Even if there is a small obstacle Giorgio Perlasca would try to get around that obstacle. But, some people wouldn’t consider him a hero because he couldn’t get around those obstacles.
