Jesse, On this day July 25, 2015, I am being given one of the greatest honors of my entire life. To become your wife is not only the happiest moment but it is truly an honor for me to be able to take you as my husband. Every little girl dreams of her wedding day, like many others my first was a mistake and didn’t end in happily ever after. I truly feel that God had a plan all along. I fell head over heels in love with you when I was 12 years old. I never forgot about you but never in my wildest dreams thought that after 12+ years we would reconnect and you would make me the happiest girl in the entire world. I don’t typically believe in fait and we both talked about how we didn’t really know if true love was real. I now know that it is
On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank all of you for your compassion and for being present here today. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mauri-Lynne, and I'm Lionel's daughter. Dad was devoted to every one of you. We all hope that you'll share your memories of him with us, if not today then in the weeks and months to come.
I’m glad we have Maurice, my mother’s younger brother here today. Ella, her older sister, unfortunately couldn’t make it, but I know the news of my mothers death hit her hard. And I know that she prayed with all her will, for my mother.
It is hard to give a eulogy for one’s parent. More than the death of a classmate or sibling, the death of a parent is not only a loss, but also a reminder that we are all following an inevitable path. We are all “Outrunning Our Shadow” as her friend Fred Hill so provocatively titled his book.
I stand before you today to pay my last respects, and to say my final goodbyes, to my father Harry.
You are the light in my life, my happiest thought in the darkest of times. I know that you’re always there for me, no matter what. I have so many wonderful memories with you in the time that we have been together. It seems that everything about you fills my heart with love, even a simple smile makes my heart beat faster. Even after a year being with you, I find myself falling more and more in love with you each time I’m with you. It’s like an endless sea; the moment I think I cannot love you anymore, you do something so warm and thoughtful, and the ocean overflows. I find it hard to put into words just how much you mean to me, because I feel as if there are not enough words in the world to say how I truly feel towards you. You have flipped my whole world upside-down, I never knew how committed and passionate I could be for
There is an old Yiddish proverb, when the heart is full, the eyes overflow. And so it is the case when we try to sum up and honor my mother’s life.
I was sitting at my small desk in my room when I saw my dad had come home from who knows what, wearing a sad face. He came up to my room with a big red rose. Right then I knew what was going on. I never spent a lot of time with family members who I was not close with. I acknowledged their presence, but I never talked a lot to or about them.
My mother was a complex, multi-faceted person. Many of you here today knew my mother personally, and many of you knew my mother indirectly through one of her family members. You may have known her as a coworker, a friend, or a support person. Of course, all of my mother’s family here today each knew a part of her, a “facet” of her--as a mother, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother, a cousin.
Good afternoon, let me just start by saying that the kindness, support, friendship, and love extended to me and my family during this difficult time has really touched my heart- we are sincerely appreciative!
I believe that every person in, in their own unique way, creates a legacy in their lifetime by which others can live long after that person has left us. For those of us who remain, Mildred Johnson has truly created a legacy to uphold and fulfill in our daily lives. I firmly believe that this carrying out is a true honor and responsibility by means of the various facets that Mildred has made her own.
Seven years have passed since our first encounter and in those past seven years, we have made many memories and parted ways several times. Whenever we parted ways, we were led back to each other as if there was a spark between us. Ever since you entered my life I felt as if God somehow sent one of his angels down to me. Over the last few months, I feel like my heart has grown stronger because of the love I have for you. This love gets stronger and stronger each and every day.
Admiration Do you have someone that you admire? Do you have someone that you look up to? I’m sure that you do. Most people I know do as well. We all have people that we admire in our life.
To the best father a daughter could ever hope to be blessed with. Dad, you taught me so many invaluable lessons that I have used throughout my life. I am thankful for every single day! For example: to try new things. Yes, I now know that sushi is delicious and the suction cups from octopus tentacles will suck to your mouth, and if you eat brown slimy lettuce you will definitely vomit!
I have lived in South Carolina for about 2 years now. Before I moved down here my great grandpa was sick but when I moved down here he had gotten worse. He looked confused and lost at times. During the time I found out my great grandpa died I was just waking up from working so hard the day before. I knew something was wrong because the night before I had trouble sleeping and I just felt weird.
One day i aspire to be able to give you “wonderful” parents of mine a nice little lecture. Thank you guys for making simple memories of mine into lectures and for shaping me the way i am and the way i act today. Please stop complaining about my attitude because you guys made me this way, so thank you. (Not really). It all began when i was 6 years old while i was scrolling down on some “scary youtube” videos as i layed down on my small cute princess bed with some sweet and tasty orange juice in my small hands.
