The gift of a child

He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me." Mark 9:36-37

Have you hugged a child today? Jesus did. He brought a little child to his disciples to teach them the importance of loving and welcoming children. Jesus knew how important it is to love and teach such a small being about God's word. Jesus wanted to teach His disciples that children are not second class citizens, as their society taught; and how important it is to love children and to teach them about God the Father.

As parents, it is our responsibility to raise our children in the shelter and instruction of God's word. Children are the future of our country. The "health" of this world depends on our children. Teaching them to love their neighbor, to love and respect their parents, but most importantly to love and honor God and how to obtain eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ, will do more for this world than most of the fundamental lessons any instructional institution can provide them. …show more content…

I have to say that loving my children is my favorite "job" in all the world. My children have helped mold me into the person that I am today. I wholeheartedly believe that children were put on this earth to love. I have taught Sunday school for children from ages 2-20 over the years, gotten involved with my children's friends (from elementary school through college), and their sport teams for the sole purpose of loving my children and loving the children around me. I have cooked and baked for the sole purpose of loving on these blessed young
