On September 12, 1962, JFK delivered a speech at Rice University in Texas in which he supported the space administration's program to land humans on the moon. His purpose is to make the US the country whose citizens and people would be the first to step on the moon or other planets. He used process analysis, logos, and cause and effect. In his speech, he tried to show the audience that Americans are able to make the impossible possible. He started his speech by using process analysis and discussing the history of man in America. He talked about the first 50 years of human beings living in the U.S. He mentioned that after 40 years, advanced men have just learned to cover their bodies with animal skin, which is very basic. His purpose in mentioning the history of men in America is to remind people how basic all the technologies, the educational system, the social norms, and the cultural habits were at that time, but our society and our people discovered so many things and made America the most powerful country in the world. Going to the moon would not be impossible for our people. He continued his speech using logos by mentioning that some people would want Americans to stay where they are for different reasons, but the United States was not built by those who waited and rested.
