I scream into the darkness as it overwhelms me.All I wanted was a sandwich but I was forced to receive something not of this world. It all started one day when I finished school,I was walking down the street to reach a nearby bakery. When I reached the bakery I bought a sandwich that seemed oddly tempting and golden.I should have known something was wrong when I saw the shop keep dressed in a black cloak and the fact that the store was named "Lil Cthulhu Inc",But hey what can I say, when it comes to good sandwiches no one can resist the temptation of an Eldritch abomination made sandwich. Its just the way they use caramelized souls the cook it that makes it so tempting.Anyways after I consumed the sandwich I was brought to a void of space that …show more content…
I must find a way out of the space and go back,I had so much I wanted but didn't need to do.As I desperately scramble for even the slightest chance of escape I hear a some what calming but equally as demonic voice call to me but don't ask how it was calming to me I just felt it pull upon me and the next thing I saw was a male/female entity with pale skin large bulky build and 13 horns curved into a sort of crown upon it's head, apart from this it had black legs with purple vein like things going across what seemed to be it's entire body and 666 seemingly branded upon it's exposed stomach. Finally after what seem like an excruciatingly long time it said in its baritone voice accompanied by the shrill shrieks of sinners burning in a blazing fire it said,"Welcome human and be proud" it said curving it's lips in a horrible and inhuman way that made it look like a crazed serial killer jester.I promptly respond by saying "can I …show more content…
Without giving me time to think about what he said Ifrit grabbed me by the arm from my sprawled state and pulled me with inhuman strength and thew me through the window and into a crowd of creatures ranging from half animal half human creatures to modern romanticized depictions of Satan,Further more the entities had to make it worse by abruptly stopping what ever they were doing and turning to look in my general direction.Immediately I saw what looked like a two meter tall dark elfish creature walk towards me and before I could even ask where I was and how to leave I was promptly picked up and put into a large stone batistae that seemingly appeared from thin air. When this happened I heard a faint voice say "I don't expect you to live after this but if you do know this,Ifrit is very erratic and he threw you into this village to become one of the meals he gives to the natives in return for unyielding loyalty".After I heard this voice I was launched at a force that made me feel like my skin was going to peel off my body to only leave a skeleton scattered across the
The 1920s was a hard and painstaking era in American history. Many family's throughout New York lived in absolute poverty and saved week to week just to make enough to eat and pay the rent. Many Immigrants flooded the streets desperate for work while living conditions were harsh and many starved. This is just the case of the novel Bread Givers, written by Anzia Yezierska. In this story we follow Sarah Smolinsky, an ambiguous independent Jewish girl "trapped" by her religious traditions. Her story unfolds as she breaks away from her controlling parents and moves to work and go to school for hopes of being a school teacher. Her life is not easy and she must endure countless sacrifices just to get by. With the determination of her will she graduates college, but returns to her father to take care of him in his old age. In the begging of the story Sarah hates her father, and everything about him, and this relates to her hatred of his God and his traditions. From hatred of her father she refuses her Jewish traditions and religious beliefs to make a better life for her self in America. After accomplishing her goals, she can't ignore the emptiness of her fathers love. Sarah yearns with a wanting to be loved by her father. She begins feels remorse for him, and starts to remember her past and where she came from, returning slowly to her once lost traditions.
Panera Bread is a “fast-casual” restaurant that provides a variety of sandwiches, soups, smoothies, and baked goods. They are in between the typical fast food restaurants and the sit down dinning. They offer high quality, healthier products at a fast pace. They are focused on the broad differentiation strategy. They differentiate themselves from their competition in many ways. You can chose to take it to go or sit down and dine in an alluring atmosphere. Some Panera Breads have fireplaces, cozy seating, higher quality furniture and gathering rooms to make you come in and relax or come in and do some work. With an advantage to their competition, Panera has the relaxed atmosphere, quick service, healthier options, at a reasonable price that puts them above others.
Moving from the unpleasant life in the old country to America is a glorious moment for an immigrant family that is highlighted and told by many personal accounts over the course of history. Many people write about the long boat ride, seeing The Statue of Liberty and the “golden” lined streets of New York City and how it brought them hope and comfort that they too could be successful in American and make it their home. Few authors tend to highlight the social and political developments that they encountered in the new world and how it affected people’s identity and the community that they lived in. Authors from the literature that we read in class highlight these developments in the world around them, more particularly the struggles of assimilating
Late at night, I was looking out of the window and I saw some shadows walk past it. I was suspicious so I snuck out of the back door, when I realized that the shadows were Black Riders. I was scared so I rang the alarm, and luckily the Riders ran away. Later, when the group and I were in a cave, I was some black figures on the road far away. I had a bad feeling so I put on by ring, and later realised that they were the Black Riders again. A crowned Rider jumps at me with a sword, but Elbereth protects me. I took off my ring then fell unconscious. I woke up later with everybody surrounding me. I had a large, painful wound that Aragon tried to heal, but it only got worse. The knife I got cut with was cursed to not let wounds heal quickly so that was more bad news for me. However, I am still very lucky to be alive. Elrond sent several elves to help protect me. Glorfindel warned me that there were Black Riders nearby, so we kept running for a while. Slowly, they started to catch up and all nine Riders show up. They cut me off, and I get a sudden chilly feeling, but my horse continues to ride and gets past the Black Riders. I tell the Ringwraiths not to follow me, but the leader just breaks my sword by raising his hand. Suddenly, there is a flood coming towards me and I feel myself
Perhaps the most interesting case study of cause and effect is that which applies to the grocery industry in the United States. Events like a hurricane can affect the supply of food and other perishable items found at the local grocer. There are also other causes that can influence this fluctuation in supply, such as food recalls, or a company going bankrupt.
What is the greatest invention? Many think of the printing press, the wheel, or the telegraph, but most do not immediately consider sliced bread; yet, it is the invention to which all others are compared. Without it, the phrase “the best thing since sliced bread” would not exist. Sliced bread had a greater effect on the world than most realize. For example, the toaster was invented two years before sliced bread, but after the invention, the sales of the toaster soared (“Fascinating Facts”). Sliced bread shaped our perspective of food and convenience in America. Additionally, the way in which bread was sliced differentiated individuals: thinner for women and children and thicker for workers and men. The bread slicer contributed to the American desire for accessible food that continues to this day. Sliced bread was more than simply an invention to relieve housewives; it revolutionized the American way.
As I walked into my local small ethnic grocery store in my hometown for the first time I could not help but to be amazed. It was so neat to see the cultural art hanging around the walls and all the variety of different foods. El Cristal: Tienda Hispana is a great place to shop. When shopping in the grocery store there were many Hispanics that would come in and out of the door. Since the store has a dominantly Hispanic demeanor there was only one other Caucasian in the store besides myself. Most people of other cultures visit an ethnic grocery store when looking for something specific in a recipe where as someone of the same ethnicity buys a good amount of their groceries from there.
This essay focuses on the topic of globalization, taking along several other factors with it. Increasingly in the world, it becomes obvious that the globalization is affecting almost all the businesses of the world. Every market in some way or the other is following the principles of globalization. For example, McDonalds is a chain of restaurants working in collaboration to deliver their customers with the best product and to achieve this McDonalds follows the concepts of globalization. This essay will discuss anc ethnographic study at McDonalds examining whether it confirms or denies the claims made about globalization.

Hamburgers are for men, salads are for women, at least that’s what society and advertising tells us. In snack advertisements men are seen bulking up on hot dogs, nachos and burritos, while women are searching for a healthier meal replacement by grabbing a low-calorie no-fat yogurt from the fridge. Nestle has already explained to their consumers that their Yorkie Bar, which explicitly states in big bold text upon the packaging that it is “not for girls”. These chocolate bars are instead to be scoffed back by big manly men with a large appetite and a bench press appointment. Cadbury has also informed many through their advertisements that a woman eating a Flake bar is quintessentially erotic. These chocolate bars often found being consumed by
The voices in my head become a swelling crescendo. I forcefully grab my head in between my hands as the words echo through my skull. Pain pulsates with every word. I squeeze my temples hard with my palms but the pain is unbearable. Clawing at my face, a scream rips through me; sapping every last drop of energy in my body. Like a rag doll, I collapse onto the cold concrete floor as a growing darkness overcomes me.
Have you ever eaten a meal consisting of products that you do not know where they came from? If you answered no, think again. Food Inc. illustrates the process that food goes through when being produced and manufactured. More specifically, it allows us to have a sneak peak from what multinational companies are deliberately hiding from us. As some find these processes troubling already, this paper consist of what three theorists would think about it.
The term “Sandwich Generation” is what some are using to describe those people who, for one reason or another, are ‘sandwiched’ between the need to provide care not only for their own children but also for at least one aging parent. There has been much debate on what classifies someone as being included in such group, and little emphasis on the hardships that accompany the transition between child and caregiver. This paper will discuss the classification that make up the “sandwich generation’ and some of the financial and emotional stress that comes with this new responsibility.
The exterior of the Lake Pointe Grille may initially turn off potential customers. The box-shaped, strip-mall style building doesn’t necessarily scream quality at first glance. Not too many people dined that hour at Lake Pointe Grille when my friend and I arrived, likely contributing to how quick our service was. After receiving the choice to dine either outside or inside the restaurant, we felt compelled to sit outside and the hostess led us to our table. The atmosphere outside barely had anything going for it, unless a few roads, trees, cornfields and a single store nearby qualify as breathtaking scenery to some people. Maybe John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” would be fitting here. The waitress treated us politely and we
The focus of this work is to investigate and explore the link between ethnicity and food, exploring to what extent food mediates and carries ethnicity and nationalism. I will also attempt to analyse how certain practices I witnessed are identity markers. For the purpose of my study I have chosen Hamer Ethiopia, an Ethiopian restaurant in West London. My ethnographic study is based upon participant observation, casual conversation and short interviews due to the language barrier. I have also included photographs in order to record a visual record of the research.
