One day you are just minding your own business, may be celebrating over passing a college class or perhaps it’s just a day out with the family or your friends. You and your friends are getting together for a picture when suddenly. Boom! Everything around you is utter chaos. No one saw it coming, and no one expected it to happen. That problem has taken a grip on the world, the Muslim immigrants. Now, do not mix the law-abiding immigrants with the bad, not all of them are bad people, nearly every single one of them are innocent. However, the few that are a danger to anyone are entering own countries are killing innocent people such as you, your best friend or even or family. From the advancements of today and yesterday, committing these acts of terror has become deadlier, easier and more widespread than ever before despite our country’s own precautions. These people that enter our own country need to be regulated more heavily and more effectively. As time advances, as does our technology. With more advanced technology, comes deadlier tools of destruction. These new tools of destruction have proven to be more effective than the past and is only going to get deadlier and harder to regulate. These two problems are …show more content…
Snap! The camera flashes. As you divert your eyes and look to your right, you see the police subduing a criminal. As you focus more on him, you see that he had various weapons. A disaster was avoided, all because the police were more plentiful and were able to stop the man before anything bad happened. Because of the heightened security around the plaza, multiple lives were saved. Over the next year, thousands of innocent people. Committing has got to become ineffective and extremely difficult to commit. Until we reach that point in technology, we have must have more people looking out for these
Did you know America is a nation built on immigrants? (Schwartz,2017). Immigration is a very popular topic right now and it's important to talk about it. Keeping innocent people out of our country based on fear is not right. Immigrants and terrorists are two different words, but some people may believe it is one. It is not right to keep immigrants out of our country based on religion, gender, or ethnicity. My reasons are immigrants are in need of help, we need to stick to our values, and they make a contribution to America. As you keep reading you will understand why.
When things go downhill in your life, you tend to only focus on what you’re going through and completely ignore the fact that many others could be going through the same exact thing. It’s not easy to accept that other people are feeling the same pain as you. Something goes wrong, it’s like the end of the world for you. That was me at the age of 9.
We live in a nation that has been called the land of opportunities, a nation that was developed on the hands, sweats and hard work of many people. These same people are those who are from here but are poor, or who come here for a better life and migrated from other countries some by force and others by choice. We live in a country that many look at immigrants as if they are different from the rest, what makes them different is how they speak or dress. At the end of it all we are all humans and they should not be considered to be call illegal immigrants. What is so illegal about that is the question to ask, and why it is that one word is the one to define someone’s character of who they are. One piece of paper is what define who we are in this
Throughout our lives, we carry and value our own beliefs. As we face different challenges, we may be persuaded into making certain choices. However, no matter how convincing a person may be, in the end we always have the last word. Nobody likes being told what to do but we do like to hear other opinions for a different perspective. The proper way of using rhetoric is through a confident tone that is knowledgeable of their topic. The speaker should have integrity and be selfless in the sense that they are understanding towards their audience.
Second, based on an assortment of media in New York City has increased the number of assaults and homicides involving guns which are mostly illegal and come from other states, such as Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, etc. On the other hand, many residents are concerned about the city’s safety, which is affecting them. Moreover, in the article, “A Referendum on Stop and Frisk”, by Phil Orenstein. He reports that during a weekend in the last August, nineteen people were shot in Brooklyn and also, others were shot and three more were murdered in different parts of the city. Places like Central Park have doubled the number of violent assaults this year.
Thanks for commenting. I agree with many of you points, however I do not believe that immigrants are taking the jobs of able Americans. Farm work, gardening, and other labor intensive jobs are not be filled by U.S. citizens (possibly having to do with low wages), so why would it be an issue if these immigrants decided to work in these fields? In addition to this, refugees can create their own businesses, so this doesn’t necessarily take jobs away from American workers. Unfortuanely there are many unemployed Americans, however in many cases, it is a matter of multiple applications and having the right skills. If people are not qualified for the job, then obviously it should be given to someone with the proper credentials. If immigrants have these skills then why wouldn’t a company want to hire them, versus someone who is lacking the specific background and or education?
NIJ (National Institute of Justice) interviewed countless professionals at their sponsored symposium about what is expected of the criminal justice system in coming years. Bryan J. Vila a former chief of the Office of Justice Programs, explained that if technology evolves, the crime
Immigration reform is one of the most active and discussed topics right now in American Politics. Mr. Speaker, you are being presented with a unique opportunity to embrace and lead the charge in this reform. The United States is a nation of immigrants. It was built and carried by people who migrated all over the world because they believed in the American Dream. The American Dream is not dead, and immigrants can and will continue to be an incredible positive side to this beautiful nation. But the truth remains, Immigration policies are incredibly outdated and xenophobic. As a nation, America is turning back not only on its foundation and history, but on its future as well. It is not too late to change this. America can return to the being the nation that embraces the tire and the poor and the ones yearning to breathe free. I urge you to aggressively pursue bipartisan Immigration reform this year with or without majority support from The Republican Party. It is a pressing issue that can determine whether The United States continues to be the dominant force in the world. Mr. Speaker you should pursue this immigration reform because Republicans need the support from the immigrants in future elections, it presents a viable platform to fix the issues with illegal immigration, and it can provide a better, more efficient way, to handle immigration in the future.
...t is our job, as citizens, to at least be prepared for the criminals’ attack and to be able to defend ourselves in time of need. At the Virginia Tech shooting, the responding police officers took approximately three minutes to reach the school, but about five minutes to break through the chains binding the doors together. Cho fired rounds off for about nine minutes. Out of those nine minutes only four, or less, could have happened, if a professor or other college personnel stopped the aggressive action before the tragedy was completed. Police cannot get there fast enough sometimes to save a life; citizens must be prepared for the worst. One thing is for sure, one would rather have it and doesn’t need it, than need it and doesn’t have it. People often ask themselves, “Why should I have a gun?” Well guns are needed when seconds count, and the police are minutes away.
If you are an immigrant or just want to live in one of the best counties in the world illegally, with no penalty if you get caught come to Americana. They will welcome you with open aims Just like (Fred Reed) – said in “Why Blame Mexico” (we say to impoverished Mexicans, “See this river? Don’t cross it. If you do, we’ll give you good jobs, driver’s licenses, citizenship for your kids born here, school for said kids, public assistance, governmental documents in Spanish for your convenience, and a much better future. There is no penalty for getting caught. Now, don’t cross this river, hear?” How smart is that? We’re baiting them. It’s like putting out a salt lick and then complaining when deer come. Immigrant parents would be irresponsible not
We started this Government and Politics class with reading a speech from Barack Obama during his campaign for presidency in 2008 that was a response to comments made by the minister of the church his family has attended. Barack says, “It’s that he spoke as if our society was static; as if no progress had been made.” President Obama was regarding the state of the treatment of Black people in the United States. He took a stance that is present in many white people throughout the U.S., and one that I believe definitely needs to be acknowledged in the discussion over the treatment of Black Americans. But on the other hand, I truly believe that there is a problem with the treatment of Black Americans in our country, and to deny that would be a denial of various statistics. The combination of the huge amount of police discrimination towards black people (which leads to the various brutality cases) along with massive socioeconomic gap between White Americans and Black Americans are both major issues plaguing the United States that need a solution for the betterment of the nation. This is where my opinion comes in. I agree
Ronald V Clarke originally developed the idea of situational crime prevention in the 1980’s (Brantingham & Brantingham 2005). This particular crime prevention theory addresses techniques that increase the effort required to commit the crime, increase the risks involved with committing the crime, reducing the reward gained by the offender after committing the crime, reducing the provocation between the offender and others and remove excuses (Brantingham & Brantingham 2005). Majority of crime is believed to be committed because there are no high risks of being caught and the rewards outweigh the risks (Brantingham & Brantingham 2005). Increasing the effort by controlling access to locations and target hardening can deflect many offenders, as more effort is needed to commit the crime (Brantingham & Brantingham 2005). Another main technique would be to increase the risks; this may be achieved by extending guardianship, creating natural surveillance or artificial surveillance such as CCTV (Brantingham & Brantingham 2005).
In 240 years of America, we have gone from a free and proud nation, set up by our forefathers to ensure liberty and freedom from oppressive and corrupt government; to an ignorant and divided state, filled with fears of terror and economic downfall. Our country is filled with hatred, confusion, doubt, and corruption. Although I am still in highschool, I’ve been observant of all these things for many years. Likewise, I am well aware how sickening these realizations would be to George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, or even John F. Kennedy–if they were here today. To help get America back to its optimistic and winning self, we must focus first on important issues regarding social, domestic, and immigration reform.
The question “how do we reduce crime” has been asked for many years. Numerous amount of research has been done on this topic to see if there are other ways to reduce crime. Reducing crime has been a heated debate for many years and continues to be an important topic to study. People often wonder if the policies that are currently in place even work to reduce crime. Statistics have shown for years now that the current techniques being used by police are not as effective as the some people might think there are. According to Weisburd and Eck (2004) our strategy for reducing crime has been based on the standard model for policing. According to this model, it can be applied to all people and situations as a way to reduce crime (Weisburd and Eck, 2004). Many argue that this model states that basic techniques can be used in all situations regardless of how much crime or types of crime there is in that location. This model has been criticized because it is too basic and doesn’t apply to every situation (Weisburd and Eck, 2004). Weisburd and Eck (2004) also found that this model had little effect on crime reduction. The goal is to find new ways to reduce crime because this model is not effective and it not working. Research has since found useful deterrents for crime. Although research has shown that many policies that are in place are ineffective, there are some other strategies that have successfully lowered crime rates.
The 21st Century will bring crime rates to a substantially high rate. In today’s society we have a high crime rate. Day by day more crimes are committed, and taken year by year the numbers rise hugely. This only shows that the police department’s system is not working the way expected. This system has not been modified to any extent, and therefore the numbers will not change. By the time the 21st Century comes along the numbers will have risen to a point where society will be terrified to leave their homes for fear of being attacked.
