Do you think Israeli soldiers should be held to a higher ethical standard than other soldiers? Why or why not? I think Israeli soldiers should be held to a higher standard. In addition to being Israeli, these soldiers are also Jewish. In Judaism, we need to follow the Ten Commandments. This means not hurting innocent people. When Israeli soldiers see a Palestinian who looks innocent, their religion tells them to not harm them. This means that Israeli soldiers shouldn’t just kill an innocent person for land, they need to have information that the person they are going after has done something wrong. Only then you would be able to kill the person. List Three characteristics you think are the most important for a Jewish soldier to have.
Explain why each is important. Three most important characteristics for a jewish soldier to have are, bravery, strength, and kindness. Bravery helps you stand up against danger and keeps you going through fear, which is important for a soldier. You also need strength to be a soldier because strength helps you fight and it also helps you carry the heavy weapons. To balance out the strength and bravery you need kindness. Kindness helps you be honest and follow the laws but also it helps when you are fighting the enemy. If they are wounded, kindness leads to mercy. There is no need to kill someone who can’t fight back. Kindness is also shown when soldiers help their fellow hurt soldiers. Finally, giving back to your country by being a soldier is kind.Reading about Jewish soldiers makes me consider whether I’d want to be a solider or not. I concluded that I would not want to be a soldier because of all of the dangerous risks and potential risks.
The last reason I sided with Israelis is the way they dealt with the many refugees. The Israelis took Jews from all over the world and invited them into Israel for a home.
In mid-November of last year amidst rising tensions in the Middle East, Israel launched a major offensive against Palestinian militants in Gaza on Wednesday, killing the military commander, Ahmed Al-Jabari of Hamas in an air strike. This strike on a car carrying the commander stemmed the beginning to what is known by the Israeli’s as operation “Pillar of Defense”. Following this “surgical” assassination, the Israeli air force struck over 20 underground rocket launch sites belonging to Hamas (governing terrorist organization in Gaza) and the Islamic Jihad. According to Palestinian sources these strikes killed an additional six Palestinians.
The soldiers who were a part of the Police Battalion had a choice to not participate in the mass killings of Jewish
Respect to me is admiring someone for their abilities, qualities, or achievements. I think respect is always earned an can never be given. As soldiers soldiers we should always respect our peers because they have made the same sacrifice as us. But as soldiers we should have a higher level of respect for our NCOs because they have done their time an have earned it. Being respectful is not hard it is simple, just treat others the way we would like to be treated ourselves.
I recently saw the play Anne Frank at the Stratford festival. Before the play began all the characters stood in a line introducing themselves telling us their names, who they played and gave a little anecdote about themselves or about their character. When the character who played the general got up to give his story he said that after war when his character was interrogated as to why he did what he did he said that it was only because he was taking orders. This brings up a very interesting ethical question. Should soldiers be punished for crimes that they completed while under the ordered of another?
People will assume that the S.S soldiers during Holocaust who killed millions of Jews, babies, children, women, men, elders and committed more horrendous crimes are naturally evil, along with the soldiers who tortured the prisoners in Abu Ghraib prison and soldiers who killed almost an entire village in the My Lai Massacre during the vietnam war. But is it really that the soldiers who committed these crimes are naturally evil or they are put into a situation that forced them to be evil and commit war crimes. According to Smores an Iraq Veteran who committed suicide after the war in Iraq, twenty two soldiers commit suicide everyday because of the illegal orders that they were forced to do. In paul Watson’s article he

Compassion and Heroism. People with these traits during Holocaust have helped many Jews and other people survive through many atrocities and difficult times. One event in history where a lot of people showed these traits were during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a time in history where millions of people died. One brave person who showed compassion and heroism is Irena Sendler. She disguised herself as a nurse and saved about 2000 Jewish children. Another person who impacted majorly in helping save Jews was, Raoul Wallenberg he rescued about 100, 000 Hungarian Jews. Miep and Mr. Kraler helped hide the Franks and their friends form the Nazi soldiers for 2 years.
What makes one a good soldier? When the idea of soldier comes to mind, qualities such as endurance, courage, or integrity are all what people imagine a good soldier to be. In the Movie, My Boy Jack, Jack Kipling is the perfect example of what it means to be a good soldier. Though he was declared unfit by the Navy and Army to serve in the military, he overcomes the many challenges, and struggles he faced, and rose to be the true warrior that him and his father knew he could be. This essay will explore all the characteristics of Jack Kipling that made him a great soldier.
Child soldiers who’ve committed crimes should be prosecuted, no matter what the age is. Even if they’re under the age of 18 they still committed the crimes. And these children have been through a lot and being in a facility where it’s focused on making them better people would help the cause at hand. But it has been discovered that even though some of the child soldiers were kidnapped there was a substantial amount that simply volunteered to fight in their army. And for these reasons every child who was involved, voluntarily or involuntarily, should be prosecuted for every crime they have committed.
“They lack the mental maturity and judgment to express consent or to fully understand the implications of their actions,” (IRIN, 1). Most child soldiers start fighting at an extremely young age. Because of this, most of them do not know that what they are doing is wrong. “The Children and Justice During and in the Aftermath of Armed Conflict report says: ‘If a child under the age of 15 is considered too young to fight, then he or she must also be considered too young to be held criminally responsible,’” (IRIN, 1). If children that are forced to fight are not legally old enough to fight, they cannot be punished because they may not realize the magnitude or effect what they do will have. Even if they do understand that violence and killing is wrong, they have no say and can do nothing to get out of the situation. “Eleven-year-old Abu Imara al Omri kneels down to kiss his father's hand; a final blessing before the boy blows himself up in a truck full of explosives,” (McLaughlln, 1). Child soldiers will do whatever the leaders want them to do. This could be because they are forced to, or they may simply just not understand what harm could be caused to them. As in the case of Abu Imara, they may volunteer to become a suicide bomber because they want to be appreciated, but they don’t realize what they are getting into. Child soldiers are too young to understand
Last Thursday March 30, I watched the movie Eye in the Sky. In the movie a bunch of different ethical issues were presented. The main issue or decision to make was whether or not the military would bomb a house full of terrorist. The problem in making this decision was that it would kill innocent civilians who were within range of the bomb. Another resolution presented to handle this situation would be to send ground troops to try and capture the terrorist. Personally, I disagree with this option of action. I disagree with this option because it has the most variables. A lot of different things could go wrong by trying to catch the terrorist with ground troops. The ground troops could make an error, the terrorist are armed and could kill Americans,
After reading the documents provided, I have come to the conclusion that the territory now called Israel and once called Palestine, really should belong to the native Palestinians. As a part of the larger international conflict between the Jews and the Arabs, the Palestinian current living situations has been the “fuse” that ignites regional conflict. The Palestinian refugee status has become an exceptional contribution to the conflict resulting in more violence in recent years. The conflict itself is rooted on the primary question of whether or not the Palestinian people should be allowed to form their own Independent country and government in an area that is currently part of the nation of Israel. The territory in question has changed hands
A month earlier there was one of their fighters that had been on a terrorist operation. He was hauled in by the police and they found weapons on him. They hung the man. By law this is what they were supposed to do. This was the tenth death sentence by the mandatory power in Palestine.
The first argument is that there are laws that prohibit the practice of honor killing. The Palestinian Penal Code, "...give both women and men equal coverage under 'extenuating circumstances' when they are surprised to find their spouse in an a...
