When coming up with a mission for the company you are basically describing what the organization does and who they do it for. (Dennis Collins) When you are doing that task it is important to include ethics in this process. It makes a clearer understanding for the employees to know what is expected from them on an ethics stand point. It lets your customers know that you are in fact concerned with the treatment that they receive from an Ethics stand point. Plus it is used for legal purposes as well. When incorporating Ethics into your mission you have to include three main things. “What do we stand for? What is our purpose? What values do we have?” (Miriam Schulman) If you take those three things into consideration and have ethical intentions in all three of those categories there is a good chance that you will be successful in this task. When you are going through the process of educating your employs on this mission you are going to want to draw attention to the connection between the mission and Ethics.
Everyone knows that when a customer is making a decision on a business to conduct business with. They are usually concerned with what that business has to offer them. Although many of these times they are not looking for a materialistic item to benefit them. It is something as simple as using ethics in the mission or in everyday customer service where companies fall short.
