The date was December 16, 1773. Many disguised as Mohawk Indians, Samuel Adams led the Sons of Liberty aboard three ships in the Boston Harbor. The men began to throw what would end up to be 342 chests of tea into the sea. This act is known as The Boston Tea Party, and was a direct effect of taxation, which was one of the many reasons the American Revolution was inevitable. The Revolution was inevitable because Britain applied unfair taxes on the colonist, Americans wanted to follow their own religious views and not the Church of England, and because of the Glorious Revolution which led to the overthrow of the Dominion of New England. The first reason for the American Revolution was because of the unfair taxation that Britain was putting on the colonies The 8th declaration on the Declaration of Rights stated "An act for granting and applying certain stamp duties, and other duties in the British colonies and plantations in America, etc., by imposing taxes on the inhabitants of these colonies, and the said act, and several other acts, by extending the jurisdiction of the courts of admiralty beyond its ancient limits, have a manifest tendency to subvert the rights and liberties of the colonists.¨ (Declaration …show more content…

Even though England was victorious in the Seven Years War, it was still a very costly event. Americans felt they played their part by supplying men and a great number of supplies for the war effort. This will lead to one of the reasons why the colonies felt the taxes were unfair. A few of the minor taxes were the Sugar Act which taxed all sugar and molasses coming into the colonies. Then the Townshend Act began which taxed British goods that were imported into America. Colonist realized Britain was beginning to abuse them with power.
