The Roaring 20’s Lydia Garza U.S. History 1302 April 7, 2014 The Roaring 20’s After World War 1 had ended, Americans were happy and called for a time of celebration. Times were beginning to change and revolutionize into an era never experienced before. Many people thought that with the ending of the war, things wouldn’t look to good in the United States but the reality was that things looked way much better than they expected. The ending of World War 1 resulted in a boom of great new things in the U.S. during the 1920’s called the roaring 20’s. This era seemed as if I was a carefree era and people seemed to have more money than ever. The Roaring 20’s consisted of an era with new inventions, prohibition, jazz music, and women becoming more independent. Most of the roaring 20’s, was an uplifting time for the spirit of the United States and enhanced American life. One of the reasons that the roaring 20’s was such a great era was because of Jazz music. The roaring 20’s was also called the Jazz Age. Jazz influenced all of society. In an article, it says that jazz music started way before the 1920’s. It says that it was started since 1900’s, but did not become as popular as it was until the 1920’s. Jazz music was originated in New Orleans, and it states that when job opportunities stated opening up in the upper states such as Chicago, many jazz members started to move there and started forming jazz bands. Jazz music soon led to many different dances that kept the people going. Some of these dances that made the people go crazy were “dances like the Charleston and the Black Bottom”.
