The final act of the book was about how the life of both Romeo and Juliet ended. Referring back to the book, the wedding date of Paris and Juliet has moved a day earlier. As a result, the Friar did not have enough time to inform Romeo of what was going on in Verona. When Romeo received the news that Juliet was dead, Romeo quickly leaves Mantua to see Juliet for the last time. Unfortunately, Romeo and the Friar’s messenger passed each other which prevented Romeo from receiving the message about Juliet’s sudden death. Romeo stops to buy poison from the apothecary. When Romeo reached the monument where Juliet’s dead body lies, he was devastated. Meanwhile, the Friar was also on his way to see Juliet because he was worried that Juliet will think Romeo did not come for her. Romeo whispered his last words to Juliet and how much he loved her before drinking the potion. Sadly, Juliet woke up to find Romeo lying dead before her eyes, this leaves Juliet heartbroken. The Friar attempts to take Juliet away but fails because Juliet much rather stay with Romeo than leave him dead. Eventually, Juliet takes her life because she believed there was no point in living in a world where her only love did not exist. Did you know that Romeo and Juliet was one of the biggest love story of all time. Romeo and Juliet is a story of two star-crossed lovers from two families the Capulets and the Montagues. The Capulets and the Montague had a big fight that made the families very angry at each other. Romeo and Juliet decide to get married. The two couple marry and run away. In the process both of them will die. When it comes to Romeo and Juliet who are the top three people that caused the two to die. The two people that are chosen are Friar Lawrence and Lady Capulet. Friar was chosen because he is the one that married Romeo and Juliet. Lady Capulet was chosen because she is forcing Juliet to marry Paris which is making Juliet want Romeo even more. The third thing
At the party, they truly fell in love at first sight. Romeo loved Juliet much more than he loved Juliet. The quote from the Chorus “Now old desire doth in his deathbed lie, and young affection gapes to be his heir”(Act 2, prologue, line 1) proves the point. The Chorus is saying that Romeo’s old desire for Rosaline is dead, and his new desire for Juliet emerges. Furthermore,Romeo was willing to give up his own identity; his family name and honour for Juliet on the first day they met. The quote from Romeo “My name dear saint is hateful to me, because it is an enemy to thee: had I it written, I would tear the word.”(Act 2, scene 2, line 55) orives the point. Romeo is saying that he hates his last name Montague, because the were at feud with Juliet’s family, the
Romeo, son of Montague and Lady Montague, is introduced into the story as a depressed, upset young man, moping over a girl who will never love him back. As he says to Benvolio, “She’ll not be hit with Cupid’s arrow. She hath Dian’s wit, and, in strong proof of chastity well-armed, from Love’s weak childish bow she lives uncharmed” (Romeo and Juliet I i 203-206). Romeo states that his true love will not love him as he thinks of her, as she intends to stay chaste and turn into a nun, thus upsetting Romeo and putting him in a depressed state of mind. He is a very extreme person, and in a way, that contributes to the hastiness of the whole play, as Romeo is always at either of his two extremes; his mood either quite happy or relatively dismal. He shows that in his thoughts, as he is at first convinced he should never love another woman, but then he meets Juliet only days afterward and forgets about his previous love. His encounter with Juliet is hasty, but he claims he “never saw true beauty till this night” (Rom I v 52). Romeo reveals his personality, and how quickly he is able to get over someone whom he thought he was in love with. However, after encountering Juliet and falling in love once more, Romeo develops an obsession of sorts w...
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is a tragic love story about two young lovers who are forced to be estranged as a result of their feuding families. The play is about their struggle to contravene fate and create a future together. As such, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood would try and emulate Shakespeare’s masterpiece. This had been done before in many films. Prominent among them were, Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 “Romeo and Juliet” and Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 “William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.” Both films stay true to the themes of Shakespeare’s original play. However, the modernised Luhrmann film not only maintains the essence of Shakespeare’s writings, Luhrmann makes it relevant to a teenage audience. This is done through the renewal of props and costumes, the reconstruction of the prologue and the upgrading of the setting, whilst preserving the original Shakespearean language. Out of the two, it is Luhrmann who targets Romeo & Juliet to a younger audience to a much larger extent than Zeffirelli.
“Romeo and Juliet”, a play composed by William Shakespeare, is about a boy and a girl who are fall in love with each other at first sight, but soon find out that they have fallen in love with the child of their parents enemy. Seeing fate is not on their side due to the ongoing feud between their parents, they are willing to do anything to be together, which unfortunately leads to both of their demise. Many people question if the love between Romeo and Juliet was true. The love between the two was not true because they fell in love with each other’s appearances, they didn’t know each other long enough to actually figure out each other, and they were hardly thinking straight during the relationship.
However, Juliet's transformation begins when she meets Romeo at the Capulet's ball. After the ball, Juliet speaks to herself and says, "My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late!" (Act I.5.152-153). This quote shows that Juliet is already falling in love with Romeo, despite the fact that he is a Montague, the sworn enemy of the Capulets.
Many people think that society has changed so much over the years. That the way that children act, has taken a turn for the worst, but in reality children are learning from their ancestors. Children are lying to their parents, they are sneaking out at night to be with a boy that is “the one”, children are going back into the age of Shakespeare. In the play “Romeo and Juliet” which was written by William Shakespeare in 1597, there are two teenagers, Romeo and Juliet, who fall in love with each other. These two teenagers try to do everything that they can to live the rest of their lives together, except their families despise each other, so there is no way that they can live the rest of their lives together. So, many people believe that the way that our children are growing up today is taking away the fun parts of their childhood. However in this play Juliet did many of the things that teenagers are trying to do now. Children and sometimes adults now need to realize how your actions not only affect you but also the people around you, you also need to think about the consequences of the actions you make. At first Juliet falls in love at first sight with Romeo, then she takes a potion, which causes her family to think she is dead, and then how Friar Lawrence helps Juliet with the scheming, which shows how adults have to think about others as well.
It was fate that Romeo and Juliet fell in love and happened to be on rival sides of their families. They are the children of two families who have held a grudge over each other since ancient times for an unknown reason. Needless to say, Romeo and Juliet are doomed to be in love. Soon after meeting Juliet for the first time and falling in love with her, Romeo discovered who she is and said, “Is she a Capulet? O dear account! My life is my foe's debt” (Act 1, Scene 5, Line 116-117). Since Romeo had already fell in love Juliet before he found out that she was a Capulet, he could not help but still love her, despite the fact that they were born into rivaling families. He loved Juliet even though it was forbidden. Similarly, when Juliet’s nurse tells her that Romeo is a Montague, she says, “My love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me that I must love a loathed enemy,” (Line 136-139). When Juliet finds that her new love is also her adversary, it is too late for her to hate Romeo. Later, Juliet is found outside, standing on her ...
The major climax of the play comes when the friar gives Juliet a potion that will make it seem as though she has died, when in fact she is alive the whole time. While in Mantua, Romeo mistakenly hears that Juliet has actually died and he goes to lay by her side. Just as he takes a vile of poison and dies Juliet awakens to find her love lying dead at her side. She cannot fathom living in a world without Romeo so she takes his sword and ends her own life.
In the beginning of the play, Juliet states “My only love, sprung from my only hate!” (1.5.137) When Juliet falls in love with Romeo and figures out he is a Montague, she discovers that the one man that she has ever loved, is hated by her entire family, It was frowned upon that the two be together from the start. This lead the two lovers to hide their love from all, because they knew that their love would never be approved. By hiding their love the two created chaos that lead to their death. Therefore because the petty argument between the two families led them to hide their love, the argument played a big part in the death of Romeo and
Everyone is to blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Romeo, Juliet, Friar Laurence, and Romeo and Juliet’s parents all played their own role in causing the four deaths of Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, and Paris. It is not just one of them to blame, every one of them did something to cause the tragedy. Some of them played a bigger role than others, but everyone contributed. Fate had nothing to do with it and it was all the different characters faults. Romeo, Juliet, and Friar Lawrence’s rash decisions where the main cause of the tragedy.
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare juxtaposes the World of Everyday and the World of Romance to display the type of people Romeo and Juliet are. The two worlds are similar in a way because of the characteristics of the world. Both Mercutio and Lady Capulet are living in the World of Everyday, while Romeo and Juliet live in the World of Romance.
Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe’s stories are extremely similar yet they obtain their fair share of differences. Throughout the stories they’re both battling separation from the one they truly love. These star crossed lovers jeopardize their lives for love. However, they both faced different obstacles, such as how they were separated from each other. Also they both had very distinct ways of speaking.
Imagine watching a movie that was based off of a book; one may notice that the directors have made subtle or obvious changes to the details of the story. Directors change these details in order for the movie to make sense with a different perspective than a book. Shakespeare’s play of Romeo and Juliet has been made into multiple movies. One movie that it has been made into is Romeo + Juliet directed by Baz Luhrmann. There are many differences and similarities these two versions. They both contain the same characters, but the movie inserts extra details, such as the use of media, electricity, and guns, to fit with the time period that the movie is set in.
This movie poster portrays Romeo + Juliet as a film about the clash between romantic love and familial love. This movie is based heavily on the drama genre, much more so than Luhrmann’s original poster. The two “loves” collide with each other as a result of the romance between Romeo and Juliet. As each love grows deeper, the characters and their relationships, particularly with family and family enemies, are tested and developed. The film is targeted to both male and female audiences, and mainly towards teenagers and young adults. Romantic images and themes on the poster appeal to female audiences, whereas male appeal lies in images of danger and conflict. Dramatic, romantic and violent themes appeal to teenage and younger adult audiences.
