When you go to a restaurant or the movies, what do you get as a drink? Thousands of people will say soda, but did you know that soda can kill you? Soda believe it or not is very dangerous for your body if you drink too much of it. My three reasons are what sugar can do to your body and brain, how warning labels work, and the percentage of all the people sugar effected. So be careful on how much you drink a day because soda has loads of sugar that can lead to serious problems. For example, one can of soda can rot your teeth, turn your liver into grotesque lumps of scar tissue, cause obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. We already know soda is bad for you but why is it as bad as everyone says it is? A single can of soda contains the equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar(Ten). Most Americans consume fifty-six gallons of soda alone in just a year. Now think about how many sodas it would take to make a gallon and how much sugar is in one soda. I would try telling you something good about soda but there is absolutely nothing good about it, because it has no positives.
In the past couple years people all around the nation, whether it's in New York City or an 8th Grade classroom in Michigan, people have been pressed with the question, whether the New York Soda Ban, is a good thing, improving health, or if there is a larger issue. Is this decision showing evidence of the Government interfering with our basic civil liberties?

There are plenty of sugary soft drinks in the market today. Sugary soft drinks are included as drinks defined by the US Department of Agriculture and the US Department of Health and Human Services in their Dietary Guidelines for Americans as “sugar-sweetened beverages” that contain different types of sugars that contribute calories. Examples of these are lemonade, sports drinks, energy drinks, carbonated sodas and sweetened teas and coffees (Marrow,2011).
The article, Soda Consumption Does Not Equal Obesity, states that soda is not the only reason people are obese. When people are more active, they are less likely to have an obesity-related illness. Being active plays an important role because people are constantly burning fat, which makes it less likely for them to be overweight or obese. Economists from Emory University declare that soft drinks do not have a big impact on weight. The reason is that when untaxed, soft drinks only represent 7% of a soda drinker’s calorie intake.

Soda is often a big part of a human’s diet. Therefore, the harmful effects of soda are occurring without people knowing soda is to blame and not having the knowledge of the illnesses that are linked to it.
Soda is such a bad aspect to your daily health because of many reasons. Soda does not contain any essential nutrients needed for a healthy diet, just sugar. Soda is full of empty calories, it does not contain any vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, or fiber. It adds nothing to your diet except excessive amounts of added sugar and unnecessary calories.
