Stephen Curry: Greater than his reputation
First and foremost, I want to give Mr. Stephen Curry a toast for being one of the greatest men to touch foot on this Earth. Stephen Curry is known as one of the best point guards in the league today, who, plays for the Golden State Warriors, wearing a number 30 jersey. As many of you know, he is a deadly 3-point specialist that can shoot from any angle and make any shot with his eyes close but his career and attributes doesn't make him, him. Curry is a man of faith, modesty, love, and acknowledgment.
The world is sincerely blessed to have a man of integrity such as Steph Curry, that is frank and outspoken about his faith in Jesus Christ. To clarify my statement, I am not trying to undermine any

other religion by any mean necessary, but, I am expanding on the religion that Curry believes in. Mr. Stephen Curry has used every platform that he has been given to tell his testimony to humankind. Curry has even wrote the bible verse inside of his sold out shoes, “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”(New Testament Bible, Philippians, 4:13). Many news outlets have praised Curry for his strength in his faith, such as USA Today and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Shaun Livingston (Point Guard for Golden State Warrior), who was interview by USA Today article, “ Stephen Curry: Family man, Everyman, NBA megastar” stated that: Stephen Curry’s faith, beliefs and his value system is unprecedented. He just takes what is given to him and he doesn’t show people up. His humility kind of resonates throughout the locker room (Amick). Steph Curry, himself, quoted why pointing people towards Jesus was the best option, in the article “Stephen Curry: I can do all things through Christ”: I love pointing people toward the Man who died for our sins on the cross. I know I have a place in Heaven waiting for me because of Him and that’s something no earthly prize or trophy could ever top (Chandler). Steph Curry is a man that loves Jesus Christ and uses that love to boast his modesty to humanity. The modesty that Steph Curry shows on the court is the same modesty that he shows off of the court.
On the court, Stephen Curry can make approximately 30-45 points a game but he does not brag about such whenever he does averages those points. He speaks of such amazement with the terms of that he only plays basketball because of his passion for the game and that he doesn't care about how many points or assist he averages on a nightly basis. Though Stephen Curry is a two-time MVP awardee, 2014-2015 NBA champion and so much more, he still finds the time to be a loving husband and father.
Curry's love for his family is beyond what anyone could think of. Even if he is on court or off court, anyone can notice that he has unconditional love for his girls (his wife and who daughters). Ayesha Curry (Steph Curry's wife) was asked about what kind of dad is Stephen, and she stated in the article "Exclusive: Stephen Curry and Wife Ayesha on Marriage, Kids and Their Matching Tattoos" that:
The thing I love about him is that he's not too cool for school. He'll get down on the floor and play with the girls. He'll put on dress up clothes if he has to and he's very patient, which is something I'm not. We balance each other out
(Shipnuck). Not only is Curry a man of faith, modesty and love, but, he is a man of acknowledgement. Curry acknowledges the fact that this world is continuing to face poverty and decrease in nature, but, he has decided to do all that he can to save the world from diminishing in respect. What Stephen Curry did was gather his family together and they all joined "Feed the Children." Written in the article, "Stephen Curry joins Feed the Children to deliver food and essentials to Oakland families", states how Curry chose to give back to the less fortune: Stephen Curry and his family delivered boxes of food and personal items to 400 local Oakland families, in which he shard word of encouragement to the families. "The best advice I can give you is to stay in school, stay focused everyday and to spend the holidays, appreciating your family and the people in your life," Curry said (THE OFFICIAL SITE OF THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS). So, what I leave with you all today is that not only is Steph Curry a deadly 3-point shooter, who happens to be a point guard for GSW, indeed, he is an all-around amazing man of Christ, husband, father and entrepreneur of acknowledgment. Please, don't remember Stephen Curry as just a overrated point guard instead remember him as underrated role-model.
Lebron James capitalizes on the importance of family throughout the article. He is announcing to the fans and “haters” that he will be returning to Cleveland. He is also incorporating the fact that he is apologizing for his actions in the past. He emphasizes the importance of family and relationships in order to capture the emotions of his audience. James uses rhetorical appeals, such as logic and reasoning, in "I'm coming home" to convey that he is sorry for his actions: however, he still makes it a point to justify his previous departure, while also keeping the importance of family and relationships relevant to his decisions
Over the last two seasons, Steph Curry has propelled himself into the conversation as not only the best overall point guard in the league, but also the best overall player in the league. He’s the two-time defending league MVP, the reigning scoring champion, and has been the best player on the last two Western Conference Champions.

Kobe spent years trying to mimic everything about Michael Jordan including his footwork, shooting form etc. and it definitely payed off . Kobe has the 3rd most points scored of all time and he is the all time Lakers points leader. However, Kobe’s success is his but his influence is not, it belongs to Michael Jordan as it was Kobe who mimicked Jordan. The points scored by Kobe have an often unseen angle, Kobe also has the missed the most shots ever (Nba.com)). LeBron, on the other hand, is currently the youngest player to reach 20,000 points even though Kobe has played 6 more seasons than LeBron has out-rebounded, out-assisted, out-stole and out-blocked Kobe Bryant (nba.com). While doing so LeBron changed what constitutes all 5 positions, for example before LeBron, the point guard was the smallest player on the court who can dribble, but after LeBron’s arrival where he has dominated every position with his 6’8 280 pound frame and his incredible basketball IQ, the point guard has become the composer of the symphony that is an offensive possession in a game of basketball"LeBron James." Stephen Curry, currently one of the best players in the NBA, experienced an obstacle when he was not to a top college. Rather than seeing this as an end to his NBA dreams, he overcame this obstacle by turning it in to an opportunity. As a member of the Davidson College team, the underdogs at the 2008 NCAA tournament, he was able to demonstrate his skills during his teams dream run to the final 8. Through his shooting prowess and never give up mentality he showed the basketball world his ability to change the course of a game. Had he not been challenged by this obstacle he may not have had the opportunity to demonstrate his skills, with this opportunity acting as a catalyst for many more in the future.

The National Basketball Associations, Golden State Warriors are approaching history. They are the number 1 ranked team in the league and the quest for winning a record 73 games is well within reach. The keys they play by have helped them be the success they are. The consistent 3 point shooting threat has left many shaking their heads in disbelief. Always making the extra pass has allowed them to strive on and off the ball. Most importantly teamwork both on offense and defense has led them to be ranked among the league’s best in both. As long as the Golden State Warriors keep shooting the three point shot the way they have been, along with great passing and teamwork they will pass the record held by the 1995-1996 Michael Jordan led Chicago bulls team.
In 2008, Michael Jordan made his 200th wish to Make-A-Wish foundation. The CEO of the Make-A-Wish foundation even stated that, “Michael Jordan is one of the all-time greatest athletes, but he is an even better person,” said David Williams, “He has changed the lives of hundreds of wish kids and their families for the better, and for that, we are forever grateful” (Christensen). If the CEO of Make-A-Wish can say that Michael Jordan is a better person than a basketball player, and then he must be quite the person considering how dominate of a player Jordan was.
