The touch infrared probes have flexible protocol facilities that are said to allow easy interface in retrofit applications. A microswitch in taper shank activates the probe in applications that do not permit infrared activation. The shank switch activates the probe when it is inserted inside the spindle. Once removed after action it will automatically switch off to save battery life. It can be operated for 800 continuous hours with lithium or alkaline batteries and is rechargeable. The transmission range is 7-m and optical triggering for reliability, blower jets are used to clean the measuring point with coolant or compressed air.

Interference-free signal transmission between probe and receiver is necessary for reliable measuring and is done by HDR. Once this was completed, we moved on to the IR spectra portion of the lab. We first obtained potassium bromide and benzophenone. The benzophenone was grinded into powder and then added to the potassium bromide—and mixed. This mixture was then placed into a pellet press barrel with one of the bolts halfway up the chamber. My breaching experiment involved three social norms. These social norms forced people to be in an uncomfortable situation and make a decision as to how they should react to it. The first social norm I experimented with was sitting next to someone in an uncrowded movie theater. I chose this because of the awkwardness it caused.
