Police corruption, misconduct, and brutality in the United States have been issues since the creation of watch system in the United States (Grant& Terry, 2012). New policy and training is now in place and the corruption, misconduct, and brutality has gone down since the beginning of policing. This is a huge issue that impacts all police organizations in the United States. The extent of police corruption, misconduct, and brutality is hard to track in the United States. A lot of these crimes go unreported, tossed aside, or the officer responsible gets little or no punishment. This is huge issue in the United States criminal justice system. These two officers took bribes and never reported known about a brothel that took in over a million dollars a year. 16 women working as prostitutes for the brothel were believed to have paid thousands of dollars to come to the United States from South Korea. The worst part is the officers accepted only small bribes for their silence. Both officers pleaded guilty for their crimes. But on June 20th 2008 the judge delayed the sentencing to Dennis Kim. New evidence was brought forward the Kim along with other officers of the 109th Precinct planted drugs and stolen cash on suspects during gambling raids (Marzulli, 2008). Dennis Kim was sentenced on October 15, 2008 to more than a year behind bars and $3,000 worth of fines.
