1 Introduction
Among the various metal joining processes, orbital TIG welding has become a well established method, although a considerable deficient of information about the various possibilities of this challenging technique still under research. Aerospace industry, pharmaceutical industry, high speed rails, nuclear industry, food industry, microelectronic industry , oil and gas industry rely on orbital welding.
In this report basic information is provided about the orbital weld process and the related equipment: technical approach, advantages, common and special applications, but also restrictions and limits.
Orbital welding utilizes the gas-tungsten- arc-welding (GTAW) process as the source of the electric arc that melts the base material to forms the weld. During GTAW an electric arc forms between the work piece and a tungsten electrode. To initiate the arc, a high-voltage signal will ionize the shielding gas to generate a passage for the weld current. A capacitor dumps current into the arc to diminish arc voltage to a point where the power supply can adjust. The power supplies responds to the demand and supply current to maintain the arc.
2 What is Orbital Welding?
Orbital welding is the first choice for the joining of tubes whenever high quality results are required. The welding moves around the tubes to be joined, guided by a mechanical system. The name orbital comes from the circular movement of the welding tool around the work piece.
Generally, orbital welding technique covers two main fields of application:
a) Tube to tube / pipe to pipe joining
b) Tube to tube sheet welding
3 Welding Procedure
Using manual welding, it is very tricky to achieve the utmost standards of quality and safety. This is mainly due to ce...

... Defects
The orbital welding has defects that include misalignment, lack-of-penetration, a huge crevice and discoloration due to poor internal diameter purge. This weld would be considered unacceptable by any standard.
8 Disadvantages
Followings are the disadvantages for the orbital welding process:
• Increased equipment cost
• More equipment issues
• Additional welder training
• Additional maintenance and spares
9 Conclusion
Along with the current methods of using TIG cold and hot wire welding, there has also been steady progress in the development of other welding which allows a whole range of new applications. Orbital welding can provide reproducible quality using wide-ranging techniques. This can be achieved to a high standard even when using unusual materials, small tube diameters, thick walls, and even within a difficult working environment.

Tomorrows Welders Thomas Jefferson said, “I find that the harder I work, the less I call it work”. I have often found myself in situations where I needed to fix something but could not because it is metal. I believe this might be why I began to show interest in welding. There is great satisfaction in being able to create or fix a metal object on your own.
What is welding some may ask. “Welding is the use of brazing or soldering to join together or split apart pieces of metal.” Says miller electric inc. The First recorded forms of welding was from the bronze age when metal boxes were made by “pressure welding lap joints together.” In medieval times welding was used by hammer to forge weapons of different types. “It was actually not until the late 1800’s that traditional welding
Welding is a excellent career choice for those who like to build things with their hands and have a strong attention to detail. It requires an extensive amount of knowledge and skill but for those who get a solid grasp of the respected trade they're rewarded with tremendous job opportunities and first-rate pay.
Welding is a very important job in today’s society. With new building designs, and bridges to every day metal products, welders are needed to do these tasks. Almost everything that you use every day has some sort of weld to it.

In doing so, they weld metal parts, fill holes, and can even repair cracks in a brace. Because of its heavy duty strength, welds can be used to repair cars, ships, and even airplanes. Also, welds are used in the construction of buildings and bridges. Various tools are needed to perform proper welding techniques, for example, a person may need clamps, welding rods, a chipping hammer, a torch, glasses, a welding helmet, an apron or non flammable clothing to properly weld metal. In addition, a person may also need a specific type of welder for a certain occasions.
The recruiter told me Tig welding would be the best choice for me but I don’t know if I’m sure on that. I did a little research on pipe line welding but I couldn’t find too much of noting on the website I was on. The recruiter also told me Tig welding will be the hardest and take the longest to learn. I aren’t even tripping about that though because I know that in order for me to succeed something have to be hard alone the way, nothing comes easy for nobody.

This process can be used for many variations of work, including root welds, joints, T’s, butts, laps, and many more applications. Even though its used in many practices, it is not recommended to use this method for repair work because of the quality of the welds. It’s easy to use and it is inexpensive to afford now with 110v machines. But you cannot weld for a long time like a 220v machine would produce. Both have different duty cycles” (Parag. 7.
Welding is an art, science, and high paying career all in one. Welding is the most effective way to join two pieces of metal, it is the only way to join them so they act as one. Numerous things in our daily lives has been welded from coffeepots to skyscrapers. Welding can be done almost anywhere outdoors, indoors, underwater, and even space (“Welding Basics”). It is practically

Welding is a very important tool used in our daily lives. Welding is the process of joining two metal pieces together by applying heat. A filler helps to make the joint. Everything we use from trucks to houses have some type of welding in them. There are many types of welding careers to choose from. There is a great demand for welders today. My project was to build a table and candelabra out of metal. Most of the metal I gathered came from junk yards and had to be cleaned of rust.
Bimetallic structures are necessary for many engineering applications that demand varying properties at different locations of the same structure. Successful utilization of bimetallic structures can be economical, space saving as well as easy to maintain in engineering applications. Bimetallic structures can be envisioned along the axial or radial directions of the part. For examples, a bimetallic component along the axial direction of Ti6Al4V and stainless steel can see higher application temperature at the Ti end, while maintaining excellent corrosion resistance throughout the entire structure but cheaper than a full Ti6Al4V structure. Similarly, heat shielding zirconia on outside of a titanium tube can extend the life of the tube due to reduced high temperature corrosion damage. As important as their applications are, there are many challenges towards manufacturing bimetallic structures. In most cases, current manufacturing methods involve fusion of two separate pieces using different forms of joining.
...ts could be exposed to nuclear emission and not be harmed, so they could be replaced chemists who do the nuclear experiments. Third, vehicles manufacture requires sophisticated installation, which demand programmed robots to do the exact job. Moreover, installing vehicles parts mandate welding to wrap the parts as it could be done easily by robots. As Farum (2012) stated that robotic welding is cheaper, faster and could improve companies’ competitiveness.
