There have been incidents with hikers and animals; in October 2010, a hiker was fatally gored by a mountain goat. In June 11, 2011, a cow elk was killed by park rangers because it was too brazen in approaching visitors, charging vehicles, and damaged a tent. These incidents would advise visitors to avoid the wild animals or there will be more incidents similar to this. The national park contains over a thousand types of vascular plants grown. The wild flowers grown there are unique flowers named the Glacier and Avalanche Lilies; this flower blooms in or under the snow cover. Cow Parsnip, Lupine, and Sitka Valerian, these flowers are commonly seen along the meadows. The most common flowers to be found in the rocky areas are the Stonecrop, Phlox, and Piper’s Bellflower. Flowers often seen on or near the trails are called the Pink Coast and White Rhododendrons. The national park also has flowers that cannot be found anywhere else across the world, the flowers are the Olympic Violet and Olympic Rock Mat. The attractions in Olympic National Park listed are Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, Sol Duc Valley, Mount Walker, and the Hoh Rain Forest. Hurricane Ridge is one of the most popular locations and it is named for storms during the winter. Hurricane Ridge goes across the interior of the mountains in Olympic National Park so Hurricane Ridge can show a variety of views. Lake Crescent is a clear lake that stretches 12 miles across and 600 feet deep; it is also known to have spirits hiding within the lake, according to tribal talk in the national park. The colder weather in Alaska was not as bad as I had thought it to be. Common snow clothes were suitable outdoors clothing for the time of the year I went and regular camping supplies worked out for me during my stay. Denali National Park is hands down the most beautiful place in America and is worth every penny it costs you to travel there and experience nature in its purity. It was a life altering experience climbing mountains high above the clouds and seeing how truly magnificent and compelling the earth must have looked thousands of years ago.
