• Continue research for scholarly articles for journal and senior project • Create plan for completing senior project and meet all necessary criteria • Review all course material related to successful completion of assignments. • Meet with clinical nurse navigator being shadowed to arrange shadowing schedule for myself • Discuss the growing field of the nurse navigator due to the influx of complex and chronic health conditions in today’s population • Shadow cardiac thoracic nurse navigator for 16 hours On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week, I spent twelve hours researching articles that possibly can be used for my journal entries and senior project. Researching for articles is a daunting task in itself. When I discussed my plan with Dr. Leviner, I had no idea what a nurse navigator is or what it entailed which made it clear as mud to me. After meeting with the clinical manager at East Carolina University, it become a little clearer. Then I met with the nurse navigator at the East Carolina Heart Institute who I would be shadowing. However, there is always room from improvement in anything that anyone does. During my two shadow days, D.L. did not take a break or a lunch. I found out that a lot of the time she works sixty plus hours a week. She works that much in order to keep a close eye on her patients because she does not want anything to go wrong or happen with them since she gets to know them on a very personal level. I am on track for completing this alternate design plan and the necessary components within the assigned timeframe. Hopefully, next week will go about the same as this past week. Next week I am planning to shadow for two days, research for articles and work on journal
