A rescuer is a person who helps or saves someone from dangerous or difficult situations. Miep Gies was a rescuer and a close friend of Anne Frank. She wanted to protect the Frank family from the S.S. officers. Miep Gies assisted the Frank family by secrete them from Hitler during the Holocaust because she was trusted friend.
First of all Miep became a rescuer by protecting the Frank family. She started working for Mr. Frank as his secretary. Shortly after working for Mr. Frank in Frankfurt, Germany: “Miep became a trusted employee and friend of the Frank family and joined in its alarm over the persecution of the German Jews” (“Meip Gies”). Miep was a heavily trusted friend with the Frank family during the persecution of the Jews. She helped them with whatever they needed to keep them together. When the S.S. officers were looking for Jews: “ Miep agreed to be a ‘helper’ bringing them food that she would gather from different grocers with illegal ration cards her husband had procured as part of the Dutch resistance” (“Miep Gies”). Miep helped supply with necessary items for the Frank family though it was illegal.

Secondly Miep Gies is the person who wanted to save the Franks from Hitler.

Meip got married to Bep Gies before the Franks went into hiding. Because they were both friends with the Franks: “Miep and Bep, they often visited them in the Secret Annex during the lunch hour when the staff in the warehouse had gone home” ( Quindlen pg. 64 ). Miep and her husband would visit the Franks family with supplies after everyone would leave for lunch. They would tell the Franks everything that was going on outside of the Secret Annex. “She frequently said that she risked her safety to save the Frank family simply because it was the right thing to do” ( “Miep Gies”). She risked her life while she helped the Frank family hide. By hiding the frank family she became a

rescuer.
Furthermore Miep Gies was a trusted friend and a rescuer who was asked to cover the Frank family from Hitler. Miep did not have to rick her life by protecting the Franks. But she was a great and loving friend that she wanted to. Miep’s impact to the world was to make sure that S.S. officers would not fine the Franks. If Miep did not exist Anne and her family would have died at the concentration camp without each other.
