Introduction:
The statement which Liberal Democracy is the most effective system of national government is accurate to an extent. This can be shown by examining Liberal Democracy, Socialism, Fascism, Authoritarianism and Theocracy.
P1: Liberal Democracy
Liberal Democracy is a form of government which individual rights and freedom are officially recognised and protected. Liberal Democracy is based on 3 main principles, belief in the individual, belief in reason and progress. Liberal Democracies ideologies are, the right to life and personal security, freedom from slavery, freedom of movement,
Fascist believe in seven things, usurpation, nationalism, militarism, father figure, mass appeal, government surveillance and persecution. An advantage of fascism is that their economies is good at wholly transforming societies to conform to the planner's vision. They have many of the same advantages of any centrally-planned economies. It can mobilise economic resources on a large scale. It executes massive projects and creates industrial power. For example, Russia's centrally-planned economy built up the military might to defeat the Nazis. It then quickly rebuilt its economy after World War II. A disadvantage of fascism is it only aids those who align with the national values. They may use their power to rig the system and create additional barriers to entry. This includes laws, educational attainment and capital. In the long term, this can limit diversity and the innovation it creates. Fascism ignores external costs, such as pollution. This makes goods cheaper and more accessible. It also depletes natural resources and lowers the quality of life in the affected areas. Fascism doesn’t care for the people in any way instead all resources go to expanding and power to be
This kind of government uses military threats, suppression of a free press, and disinformation to manage the people over whom it rules. An advantage of authoritarianism is a faster law making process, with only a few people to come up with laws and decide whether bills are to be passed or not, decisions will be faster and the people can benefit from these laws as soon as possible. Another advantage of fascism is with the government having central power, it can impose on the prices of commodities being sold by manufacturers to consumers. Since a central government dictates on what products and services are to be offered as well as the number of products to be manufactured or sold in the market, business owners will not be able to monopolise the industry. A disadvantage of fascism is having no freedom of speech as well as individual and political freedom. Another disadvantage is the potential abuse of power since decisions and control of the nation are under the discretion of a single power, there is a tendency for the leader to be greedy for power and eventually abuse this for self-gratification. Authoritarianism isn’t the most effective form of government being the opposite to Democracy. It doesn’t let the people get a say and takes away their rights and
Characterized by constitutionally-limited government, an emphasis on (and a wide-spread popular ideological enshrinement of) individual civil rights and liberties, and economic policy exhibiting strong laissez-faire overtones, the American political system certainly warrants the designation liberal democracy. This designation distinguishes the United States from similar advanced industrial democracies whose political systems lend themselves to preserving the public welfare rather than individual rights. With their government bound to precepts established in a constitution drafted and revised by a group of tyranny-fearing individuals, the American populace enjoys one of the most liberal, unrestrictive governments
Liberal freedom is the absence of subjective legal or institutional restraints on the individual, containing the idea that all citizens are to be treated equally. Freedom as self-government involves an assumed individual state of independence, self-determination, superiority, and self-confidence. Participatory freedom includes the right to the individual to partake fully in the political process. Collective deliverance is agreed as the liberation of a group from outside control-from imprisonment, bondage, or domination. (Walton Jr & Smith,
Liberalism is an ideology which advocates equality of opportunity for all within the framework of a system of laws. It includes a belief in government as an institution whose primary function is to define and enforce the laws. Furthermore, a Constitution, must be developed not solely by one ruler but by representatives of the elite groups. Therefore, liberalism invariably involves a belief in the need for legislative bodies which represent the influential groups. The Constitution then defines ...
Liberal democracy is capitalistic, industrialized, and democratic. It’s a social democracy was a response to the Great Depression. A free market economy allows collective bargaining to take place throughout these countries – United States, Britain, and France. Additionally, during the 1930s, President Franklin Roosevelt created the New Deal (relief, reform, and recovery), providing jobs, social welfare, and security. It was successful but was unsettled during the Depression.
Actually, there is no clearly define about what is fascism, but it could be considered as militant political movement that emphasized loyalty to the state and obedience to the leader. It based on the principles of Authoritarianism – government tried to organize and control with strong discipline as much as possible in people's lives. About political, fascism is kind of extreme nationalism with only one-party state, which means no way for democracy to exist. About economic, government claimed to control all the industrialists by putting all the economic activities under the corporate state. Society under fascism was encouraged by the military, industrialists, and middle class.
I believe that the Liberal view will be politically successful for the rest of the 21st century. I think that this political ideology has the people’s best interest as its main priority and that is the most important ideal of any political ideology. I feel that this ideology is on the rise instead of the decline due to that fact that its focus is on life, liberty, and property. I feel that any issue that has a strong basis for human rights will last for a long time.
Firstly I will look at some of the effects of fascism, starting with one of the most devastating tragedies the world has witnessed, the holocaust. It is not known who first proposed the term holocaust, but we can draw assumptions as to why it was adopted. The Jewish community are likely to have adopted this name in order to distinguish it from what unfortunately, become the routine cases of war crimes and genocide. When we look at the figures of deaths in the holocaust, we do not even need to examine the way in which many of the victims died, to understand just how horrific the effects of fascism had been.
Fascism is defined as, “an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.” Peter Hyland reports that throughout the 1920s and the 1930s, an economic depression was growing and becoming widespread throughout the world. People were losing faith in their democracies and in capitalism. Leaders who gained power supported powerful militarism, nationalism, and initiated the return of an authoritarian rule. J.R. Oppenheimer says that the rise of fascism and totalitarianism in Europe and Russia instigated a “critical step on the path to war.”
Since the inception of a democratic government in the United States’ early history, many have held that a liberal democracy should be the standard to which all other governments should attempt to emulate (CNN.com, 1). As the world’s leading super power, the United States sets an exampl...
Unlike Marxism, Fascism does not believe that class conflict can bring about change, instead fascism believes that class conflict can hurt the integrity of a country. Fascism emerged in Italy in the 20th century to stop the rapidly growing workers movement which was pushing up wages and threatening revolution. Led by Mussolini, they were funded by various wealthy big businesses (the rich minority) in order to smash picket lines and attack left-wing organisers. Fascism was very attractive in its time as democracy was new in much of Europe and not very well established, many of the countries had been run by the monarchy; democracy appeared weak in comparison to a strong charismatic leader.
When we heard about fascism, Germany and Italy enter our mind on the basis of the fact that these countrie's leaders caused the worst results which affected nearly all World.Today, however, most people believe that fascism is not a threat any more and there will be no leader who may like Mussolini or Adolf Hitler but I highly consider that fascism still pose a danger and in Europe the new fascist leaders may rise like in Turkey. But what is Fascism and leaders are really playing an important role ? I think firstly we should answer these questions.Fascism may refer to general social movement of right wing revolutionary conservatism in Europe. The term ''fascist'' was first applied to a political movement which combine ultranationalism with hostility and conservatism by Mussolini in 1919.The first fascist movements occured in Italy during World War I and it united right wing positions and elements of left wing politics.Fascists seek to bring together their nation through a totalitarian state which developed the huge mobilization of the national community.
Another reason that had a significant impact was the belief of fascists that their nations were superior to all other people. “Fascism was the governing ideology of Ge...
He then further explains the growth pattern between those eras which has led to the current ideology of liberal democracy. He believes that liberal democracy is the best ideology and that it is the final stage in human ideological development. He further suggested that human history should be viewed as a progression or battle of ideologies. With the current trend of universalization of liberal democracy and individualism, both characteristics of Western culture, he argues that Western liberal democracy has become the grand victor. He also asserts that despite the liberal democratic ideology has not completely been realized in the material world, the idea has been accepted and has triumphed over all alternate ideologies.
