The Italian and European American Culture
Cultural diversity is about people who identify with a particular group based on where they grew up, their ethnicity, the language they speak, the values they hold and their beliefs. This doesn’t mean everyone will be the same or think the same. The differences of the Italian culture compared to European American culture is hard to see. Italy is filled more with culturally diverse people and respects more of the ethnic groups of the world. The Italian culture show this in their celebrations, food, music, and traditions. Their greetings and life style are known more to the European side of the world than the western side. Respecting diversity encourages people to accept the differences between groups

and individuals.
The European American culture includes customs and traditions from all over. Culture encompasses religion, food, what we wear, how we wear it, our language, marriage, music, what we believe is right or wrong, how we greet visitors, and how we behave with our families. The European American culture started with immigrants who came and colonized way back in the 1600s. Native Americans were a huge factor, as were Latin Americans, Africans, and Asians. These different cultures shaped the European American culture and their style of living and norms.
When you travel in our world, you will definitely see cultural differences.

If you are a European American traveling in Italy, the cultures will seem very different. One of the biggest is the concept of time! Italians will usually be late to appointments and not think anything of it. Americans are always frantically running. They don’t want to be late to work or an event. Even if they are on time, they feel late so they need to come earlier. Neither is right or wrong, it is the culture that makes them different. Communicating across cultures is challenging. Each culture has set rules that its members take for granted. Few of us are aware of our own cultural biases because cultural imprinting begins at a very early age. And while some of a culture's knowledge, rules, beliefs, values, phobias, and anxieties are taught, most of the information is learned subconsciously. The challenge for communication has never been greater. Worldwide business organizations have discovered that intercultural communication is very important, not just because of increased globalization, but also because domestic workforce is growing more and more diverse, ethnically and culturally. We are all individuals. No two people belong to the same culture and they are not going to respond in exactly the same way. However, generalizations are valid to the extent that they provide clues on what you will most likely encounter when dealing with members of a particular

culture.
When it comes to communicating with others, what is proper and correct in one culture may be ineffective or even offensive in another. No culture is right or wrong, good or bad, or better or worse. It is just different. Today there is no single best approach to communicating with one another. The most important part of cross-cultural success is to develop an understanding of and most important, a deep respect for the differences.
