Human Health Enhancement Technologies
What are Human Health Enhancement Technologies?
What if we could be stronger, smarter, and have a better memory? What if we could alter our genes to cure Alzheimer’s, cancer and other incurable diseases? What if we could pause or even reverse the human aging process? NOT POSSIBLE is the first thing that comes to mind. But all of these are now possible, thanks to phenomenal advances in human health enhancement.
Human health enhancement refers to any attempt to temporarily or permanently overcome the current limitations of the human body through the use of natural or artificial resources. These technologies can be used not simply for treating sickness and disability, but also for improving human features

A Bionic aye Called Argus II, is already available in Europe. Although it can reestablish sight completely, Argus II can recover vision in individuals who are completely blind or see nothing.
Virtual Lens
A new type of contact lens which is combined with what seems to be designer sunglasses containing micro-projectors makes it possible for a user to see the world around them while at the same time view a virtual image less than 1.27 centimeters (0.5 inches) away.
Usually we cannot easily focus on both near and far objects. The near objects tend to become unclear. But with the virtual contact lens a users' vision becomes extraordinarily sharper, seeing details of objects close to the eye. By projecting content on to the eye wear suddenly the viewer sees both the real-world and the virtual one in sharp focus.
Cosmetic surgery: This type of enhancement includes plastic surgery or facelifts. In fact, cosmetic or aesthetic surgery is the most well-known type of plastic surgery. ELABORATE WITH EXAMPLES

Genetic enhancement is the process of altering an organism's genetic makeup to produce appropriate qualities. Geneticists insert new, favorable genetic information to either support or completely replace the genetic information. Scientists have already used the method to create mice, which experienced speedy muscle growth following the process, and although implementing this technology to humans is a much more complicated task, the possibility becomes closer to reality with every new technology and discovery introduced. Eventually, parents may be able to pick their child's hair color, skin tone, eye color and even their child's personality. They may even be able to choose how smart their child should be.
Cloning
Clones are organisms or species that are exact genetic duplicates. Every single bit of their DNA is identical and same. Clones can even happen naturally i.e. identical twins are among one of the examples of cloning. They can now be made in the lab too using the latest technology. There are two possible ways to make an exact genetic copy of an organism in a lab: Somatic cell nuclear transfer and artificial embryo twinning.

Common sense seems to dictate that we are all going to die one day. As we all get older we crave to keep our youth, and to stay young forever is the ultimate dream. The thought of a possible immortality is just an added benefit. Even though we have strived towards this goal for centuries, have we obtained advances in successfully staying young forever? In Bill Gifford’s book “Spring Chicken: Stay Young Forever (Or Die Trying)” he explores these ideas of life and aging further. In this novel, he goes on a journey to try and debunk the mysteries and questions behind the new science of aging. He gathers information from tests and scientists from around the country to discover what really works to prevent or delay aging and what is just a hopeful hoax. He helps us figure out why we age and why aging
Based on two stories which we learnt these days: “Harrison Bergeron” and “There will come soft rains”, we can see that in the future, technology affects us a lot. Our life will mainly depend on technology, let us see how this changed us from the stories.
The concept of successful aging is also termed as super aging or optimal health, coined by Rowe & Kahn in 1987. Fundamentally, successful aging in the elderly illustrates neither usual aging (a gradual decrease in biological and psychological functioning) nor pathological aging. Instead, it illustrates a form of aging connected to a reduced possibility of disability or disease, increased physical and cognitive functioning, including autonomy maintained. Aging and old age for a long time presented as dominated by negative traits and states such as sickness, depression and isolation. The aging process is not simply senescence; most people over the age of 65 are not senile, bedridden, isolated, or suicidal (Aldwin & Levenson, 1994).
Death, this fear of end existence, had enthralled many people on the quest for prolonged longevity. Therefore, how do we extend our lifespan? Where is this “Fountain of Youth”? Although the latter question may forever remain a lucrative theory. Perhaps the answer to prolonged longevity may reside in a little known region of a chromosome, the telomeres.
There are a number of benefits to be found from thinking about ageing as a lifelong process and not just one that affects older people. This essay will define some of these benefits whilst backing up this reasoning with reference to the K118 material. It will then explain briefly which experiences I have had personally which have led me to responding to the question in this manner.
The notion of immortality has been adapted and altered throughout generations and eras. One thing, however,
“Do not try to live forever, you will not succeed” (George Bernard Shaw). Life has finite limits, no one can live forever, but, someone can make an impact in your life or in millions of people's’ lives. In today’s society, everyone is living to old age. They are staying healthier longer due to better basic development forces, such as biological, psychological, socioeconomic and life-cycle forces that interact in a complex way. Some people are not so lucky, as they might develop dementia, Alzheimer's or a different disease causing them to age faster in a way that they won’t be able to do some of the activities they have been doing. Physical attractiveness is threatening with old age. As you age, wrinkles will form, skin will lose its elasticity,
In an attempt to define ageing one must take in consideration the biophysiological together with the psychosocial aspects; these two aspects are intertwined.
The phrase “Nobody is perfect” is appropriately accurate since there are many people who are born without arms, legs, or eventually develop organ failure. Bioengineering helps the people living without or damaged tissues and organs to live a better and comfortable life. Bioengineering will help advance and improve the health of humans by applying biology in engineering. Imagine a world without sick people, or people with deformity. This may be hard to imagine, but with the remarkable inventions and solutions developed and produced by bioengineers, this scenario we can currently only imagine in our heads will hopefully eventually become an ordinary norm. It is crucial to help people who were born with a body that restricts them from doing something everyone else can. They deserve to be able to move and be able to do tasks like every other human being.
As we age, many people notice that their mind seems a bit foggy. They have trouble remembering things. Certainly, many people have experienced misplacing their house keys or forgetting where they parked their car at the mall. Is it really due to old age or something else. What if there was a way for people to enhance their brain and improve their memory with brain enhancing supplements. Perhaps, a real limitless pill. There is a product called Adderin that is though to improve brain functioning, clarity, energy, and the ability of the mind to focus. The product is not a dangerous drug. Therefore, it does not have side effects like many drugs. This is a purely natural NZT pill that is not addictive.
Centenarian longevity is very much based on the internal physiological functioning and health input and output of these individuals. Physiological functioning including the immune system functioning has seen to be maintained and even increased for these longevous human beings. Neutrophilic functioning for fighting infection, and gluthathione and catalyst activity are also maintained through the century years. These results show high correlations between the levels of centenarians, and those of young adults. Genetic-wise, the longer the telomere, the longer the lifespan, due to cell division. Polymorphic genes regulate the immune system and other surrounding structures, maintaining its functions. Furthermore, health-conscious individuals are more likely to maintain a longer life, and reach the century age. This is due to maintenance of functioning by adapting healthy routines throughout their lifetime, even through old age. In conclusion, maintenance of the body and physiological aspects similar to young adults at old ages show a great increase in surviving and living beyond 100 years.
Many students and young people trying to leave marks on their jobs now use brain-enhancing "smart" pills to help boost their exam grades or their ability to work long hours without tiring. It's quite possible that employers will start to demand that employees use stimulants. Drugs, originally made for dementia patients and children diagnosed with ADHD, are now available without prescription. Healthy individuals use them solely to improve their memory, motivation and attention, without any prior consult with their doctors. Many of these drugs are available on the Internet which comes in handy to young people who want to save their money for the future. What they do not take into consideration when buying stimulants on the Internet is the risk of not knowing for certain what they are getting. Moreover, long-term consequences and safety of the technologies are not known. Scientists haven’t done enough research to know how much of an impact even a short period of using such substances leaves on our brains.
In the 21st century, we live in the era of technology-driven world. Humans never stopped the development of technology, because we always have a natural tendency to pursue a higher level of human being. Technology is the best evidence of human intelligence, which has shown that we are different from other animals. We have lived with technology since we were born. Although it has intervened heavily in our daily lives that we can’t no longer live without, nobody can deny the achievements it has brought to us.
Today there are many technological advancement to enhance our daily activities, whether it be as simple as an Ipod for entertainment purposes or as vital as an artificial heart for the survival of a human live, science and technology is the reason for its existence.
In my life right now, I most strongly identify with cognitive function. As a college student, I am always using my brain to learn new information and retain new material. I am always paying attention to my surroundings and making sure I know what’s going on around me in my academic and social life. There is rarely a time when I feel like my brain is “turned off.” If I am not thinking about something related to my
