How did 9/11 change Canada? Imagine the world slows and four planes crash. Then imagine us Canadians getting the news those four planes crashed, but these are not just four random crashes; one hits the pentagon and two destroy the twin towers and one just misses its target the pentagon. Now just imagine how this would change Canada. 9/11 changed Canada significantly because of certain measures taken. These measure were mostly changes in security like sending troops to Afghanistan, increase in border security, border fees, the creation of Command Canada and Anti-Terror laws. These were key to the safety and security of Canada and to prevent an absolute horror like 9/11 from repeating itself.
One of Canada’s biggest changes was sending more

There were many instances that the Americans believed that the terrorists had entered through Canada's borders. It was not until a news article was posted saying that Canada was not to blame that people stopped blaming Canada for it. Janet Napolitano the U.S. homeland security boss stated "I know that the September 11th hijackers did not come through Canada to the United States." after the crash the United States were very wary about everything. The Canadian borders are now way more secure than before and increasing the security although not efficient for travelers it has been effective in keeping the country safe. Since the attack of 9/11 there has been no air attack that has affected Canada in a significant way. The other thing that the change in border security effected was the expense of crossing the border. Border costs went up and this affected Canada US trade significantly. “As imports from Canada promote higher real income levels in the United States through several different channels of influence, the adverse impact of border security developments on U.S. imports from Canada is of concern to Americans, as well as Canadians.” It wasn't a huge decline but it still dropped the Canadian economy since they traded with the US so closely. It was hard for Canada because they were so dependent on these trades that if the costs continued, the drop in our economy would be …show more content…

Before the events of 9/11 the US had been attacked before and we were aware of possible threats. However, these threats, specifically those of Al-Qaeda were not taken seriously by American foreign policy makers or regular Americans alike, so on September 11, 2001 Americans were truly shocked by the scale of devastation and loss of life that occurred. The effect these attacks had on America was incredible. In the years that followed Americans became fearful and discriminatory of religious groups; the government created the Department of Homeland Security and enacted stricter search and seizure laws, and America’s foreign policy became defined by unilateral decision making and preemptive war.

People didn’t wake up the next morning and looked forward to their day starting. They were afraid that an attack would happen. People knew that an attack could happen any moment of any day. People were devastated when their loved ones passed on such a tragedy that everyone will remember forever because every year on the day it happened they will get reminded. The attack on September 11, 2001 continues to be the biggest historical event. This is truly something no one would forget. These attacked caused the united states to turn differently. Airport now have very strict security. I can assure that if we had the security we have now, back then this probably wouldn’t have occurred. These events made history. Al Qaeda was a group who put themselves in dangerous activities if it meant they will be hurting others. Osama bin laden had a lot of power. It nearly took the united states about 15 years to find him and kill him. He was found by the american soldiers in his compound near islamabad, pakistan. He was responsible for many deadly acts of terrorism. The attack on new york city is the most known one because it changed the world. New york didn’t live the same after this tragedy. These both events impacted us pretty serious. It made the U.S army more prepared for another attack. If they were to attack us we would be ready. These events happened a while ago and we are thankful not another tragedy has happened

September 11, 2001 was a day that Americans and the world for that matter will not soon forget. When two planes went into the twin towers of the World Trade Center and two others went into the Pentagon and a small town in Pennsylvania, the world was rocked. Everyone in the United States felt very vulnerable and unsafe from attacks that might follow. As a result, confidence in the CIA, FBI, and the airlines were shaken. People were scared to fly after what had happened.
9/11 was one of the most devastating events in American History. Four hijacked passenger airplanes killed almost three thousand people. 9/11 changed millions of lives forever. American Citizens didn’t feel safe. This attack was a wake-up call to American security. 9/11 forced the country to acknowledge its shortcomings and fix them, before any more harm could come upon the United States of America. 9/11, as all acts of terror do, promoted the growth of technology, in this case, security in the United States. 9/11 also brought about feelings of hatred to the country. On September 11, 2001 New York came upon a terrorist attack. The terrorist hijacked four airplanes the morning of the attack. The attack was part of the Al-Qaeda Islamist group, led by Osama Bin Laden. Two planes collided into the World Trade Center; one hit the Pentagon, and the other one crashed in Pennsylvania never reaching its destination. The cause of 9/11 is that Islam saw the United States as a heinous country with different and awful morals so they decided to attack. The consequences were the tensions between Americans and Muslims rose. Numerous hate crimes were committed and there was a massive economic downfall. We could have avoided this incident if the airport security would have been more strict, then the attack would have a less chance of happening (Bantista). “Make no mistake, the United States will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts. Freedom itself was attacked this morning by a faceless coward. And freedom will be defended.” –President Bush directly after the 9/11 attacks (Tsimelkas). The government issued extreme changes in the military system and the surveillance ...

The Canada-U.S. trade relationship is not static. Political and business strategies and practices change on both sides of the border, and events occur such as "mad cow disease" that are beyond almost everyone's control.

September 11, 2001 is known as the worst terrorist attack in United States history. On a clear Tuesday morning, there were four planes that were hijacked and flown into multiple buildings by a terrorist group named al Qaeda. This group, led by Osama bin Laden, killed nearly 3,000 people. Out of those 3,000 people more than 400 police and 343 firefighters were killed along with 10,000 people who were treated for severe injuries. Many lives were taken, and to this day, people still suffer from the attack. September 11th is the most influential event of the early twenty-first century because it made an increase in patriotism, it caused a rise in security throughout the nation, and it had a tremendous effect of thousands of lives.
Overall, 9/11 was a big deal, it changed America forever even though it was a tragic or horrific day in the American history. It was an era in which individuals acted honorably. September 11 experienced horrible hours, but it lead to the beginning of one of America's finest opportunities.
On September 11, 2001 terrorists crashed two American airline airplanes into Twin Towers, killing thousands of people. It was the worst terrorist attack in American history and it showed us that we are not protected by Atlantic and Pacific. It showed us that we could be attacked by anyone at anytime. It showed us that if we will be attacked again that we can only depend on each other and not on other nations to help us. The 9/11 changed people forever, some lost family members or friends, others lost their jobs even so called “American Dream.”
...d the contributions of the Canadian government. Canada is not only distressed by domestic terrorism, but it is concerned with international terrorism. By creating a strategy to deal with terrorism, Canada is taking many steps to end terrorism. Also, through international collaborations and conventions, Canada has faith that the UN and its members will be able to end terrorism.
