4000 years ago there was a man named Hammurabi who was the king of a small city state named Babylon. Hammurabi was the first ever person to write set laws for his people.Today there is alot of diferent opinions on wether they were fair or not. I believe they were very fair and ill tell you why. First let’s begin with family laws.
Here is why Hammurabi’s family laws were fair.Say a man is married and his wife gets sick the man can marry another but, he has to still take care of the sick wife.This is very fair because the man can still be happy and, the woman can still be cared for.This gives both sides their best intrest sure the woman would be sad from the new wife but at least she would not die.
Another law if a son hits his father that sons hand will be cut off this is a little harsh …show more content…

Hammurabi made sure he had laws for everything that includes laws about getting injured. The first law is if a doctor kills someone during surjury that docters hands will be cut off. This is very fair the docters just took some one’s life he volentered to help this injured man and the doctor didn’t have to skill he said he had. After his hands were cut off he can no longer kill anyone else during surjury if this is to risky for people they dont have to be doctors. The next law is eye for an eye basicly if someone injures you they will be hurt in the same way. This is fair because after the fact they are both equal like before the crime. Hammurabi’s injury laws were very smart and very just.
Hammurabi was a very wise man these were the first laws ever and even then they were still extremly fair for that time period. Now if these laws were in todays time they would would be very hard. keep in mind this was 4000 years ago and people were used to a very bad life style. So compared to this they had it very good.
