Female role models have always made a difference in the world we live in. Especially, in American movies, whether it be a vampire, superhero, or cartoon character. The world relates to women being in charge, particularly Hollywood! I believe that female role models have always been present in American movies, but much more prevalent today.
Female role models are not hard to find? If you ask me who my female role model is, I would say my mother. Nine out of ten people would name their mother. A role model is someone who influence you and make you a better person. My mother help me by shaping me and my future. Growing up if I need help in different situation I would ask her for expert advice. Your mother would be sincere and brutally honest with you. My first and number one role model is my mother, she is definitely my super hero.
In the past female role models have been women who are kind, strong, and nurture. In today’s movie sex and violence sell. The movie ticket sells are predominately bought by females at the Hollywood movie box office. The issue of sexual and violent media impact on attitudes and violence toward women has been an issue of great concern, debate, and contention. Fergerson, C. (2012). On the big screen the super hero needs to be perfect. Perfect body, face, an attitude for the leading lady. The super hero needs to be everything you dream of, not everything you’re not. In the movies you can get way and imagine to be that perfect someone, that is why it is call a fairy-tale.
Wonder Woman was the first widely-known female super hero. Lynda Carter played Diana Prince who was Wonder Woman in a TV series that ran from 1975 to 1979. She was created as a female version of Superman or Captain America...

... I am today. My children are fortunate to have their mother and father present in their lives. The world is a tough place and it is hard to make good decisions without the male and female influence. However, the family unit is no longer the common.
A role model can be a real person, cartoon character, or fictional super hero. Hollywood has a perfect teaching tool with American movies. Whether the story be true or a made up… as long as you can believe in that person and look up to them as positive role model Hollywood has hit the mark! Females have been and will always be the strong backbone of the family in our world today. They don’t need to be saved, they can take care of themselves and others. Everybody loves a good movie with a great plot and of course a happy ending. So, why can’t the leading role be a beautiful, strong, and intelligent leading lady?
