Many inventors and inventions affected the world politically, economically, and socially. Scientific advances, navigational advances, and technological advances affected the world in many ways. These inventions were especially useful for European nations in battles, in exploration, and in imperialism. The characteristics of European imperialism affected many countries in the world and changed history. Also, European imperialism had a huge effect on Asian and African nations in many ways. They took over many countries, enslaved people, and imperialized. Gunpowder, the vaccine, blood transfusion, the telescope, surgery, the submarine, the barometer, the submarine, and the microscope are all great inventions that helped change the way people live today. They are some of many scientific inventions that changed the way of life for people. Gunpowder was first used by the Chinese to light fireworks. Gunpowder changed the way people will fight in wars forever. It was used in artillery and hand-held guns. Instead of using arrows, people could easily shoot a gun. Early guns were lit by a match and therefore it took a long time to light the match. Gunpowder was also used in bombs. The mixture consisted of charcoal and iron pieces. The bombs would then be catapulted forward to the enemy and then explode. BY the late 1300s, gunpowder had reached the European nations and was used in the French and English military. Vaccines, surgeries and blood transfusions also changed the world forever. Vaccines are used as a shot to give the body a fake disease and train the body to be ready if a real disease or sickness affected the body. Native American slaves were replaced by African slaves for many reasons; Africans were not likely to suffer from the diseases from people in Europe. Native American knew the land better and it would be easier for them to escape. The colonizers needed a good amount of people working to harvest the crops and Africa provided those workers. European nations felt bored with what they had. They wanted to explore the world and spend and earn money. They wanted to control the countries also. Europe thought that expansion would get them resources and markets to trade with. Europeans were motivated to expand because they knew the economy would grow stronger, they did not want other untrusted countries gaining resources and goods, and they had pity on the countries that were not organized or governed.
