In the old days Paris was known to be the capital of culture where many of the famous authors went for their higher education. Eiffel Tower, they started building it in 1887 and finished it in 1889 , its located in Paris on the Champ de Mars to be the entrance arch to the World's Fair in 1889 , it was built and designed by the company of the engineer Gustave Eiffel. The tower looked like a huge arch of steel or iron, with 324 meters tall or ‘1,063 ft’. The medium that used to build this huge tower is iron lattice and some concrete on the bottom (the two bottom legs of the Eiffel tower).
There are no connections between this tower and earlier art history because when building the Eiffel tower they used new ways and techniques which were not familiar on that time. Eiffel tower was built by new techniques in that time; they started building with a very wide base and ended the tower in a summit, which made the surface of contact between the tower and the wind reduced.

The whole structure was built in a hurry, possibly in an effort to solidify the conquest. It is not nearly a remarkable an object as the twin churches in Caen. However, due to its protective design, it is an impregnable fortress, and its history as a prison, the tower has carved its place in history. Work on the stone building and exterior walls was begun in 1077. The main building, included a small cathedral in one corner, and rises three stories.
The palace of Versailles was built by King Louis XIV of France and the Escorial was built by King Philip II of Spain. The two kings each had their differences about their beliefs on how to rule, yet there are some similarities. Louis XIV believed in showing off his power and being open. Philip II was a simplistic guy devoted to Catholicism. They both had military to spread their beliefs and ideas. Despite the kings’ beliefs, their palaces reflected their ideals.
One similarity between the Parthenon and the cathedral in France is the size, which are both large and metaphorically symbolize the people’s devotion and dedication to their God. One similarity, is today both the Cathedral of Chartres and the Parthenon of Acropolis Greece both serve as temples and popular tourist sites today. The two styles also differ quite dramatically which can be seen in the cathedral which is a Gothic style and the Parthenon which is a Doric and Ionic style. The cathedral differs from the Parthenon because the Cathedral has maintained most of their authentic parts, mostly involving the stained glass windows. While, the Parthenon has been burnt down and reconstructed, both still partake a significant marker in art history.
The age old fortress stands as a monument of English and European history. Through monarchs, bloody battles, from prisoners to executions and a touch from all London’s prominent events in history, the Tower Of London is renowned for more than just its magnificent appearance.
The Tower of London is one of the most famous historical buildings in the world. Constructed by William the Conqueror in 1078, this grim, grey, and awe-inspiring tower, is the most haunted building in England. Perhaps the most well known ghostly residents of the Tower of London are the spirits of Anne Boleyn, Sir Walter Raleigh, The Princes in the Tower and among others.
The Tower was a large construction project enforced by different rulers, building tower after tower (21 in total), “and finally encircling it with a moat whose water was delivered by the Thames River,” (McGillick). Original functions of the Tower included “acting as a royal power base, being a place where an army could be housed and a place that can protect London from invasions, and also is a source of protection for the Royal family during chaos,” (Alchin).
Built in 1889 to commemorate the hundred year anniversary of the French Revolution, the Eiffel Tower has been a topic of discussion for numerous years. Designed by Gustave Eiffel and Morris Koechlin, the Tower was built originally as a temporary structure. The pieces of this eye-catching building were to be disassembled and melted down after twenty years. This did not happen, however. ...e Dame and the Chartres were amazing and ornate in their design. Their tall designs drew peoples' eyes to the heavens. Their extensive use of stained-glass is still used as a design feature in churches today. To think about it, a lot of work, money, and time were put into these two structures for strictly spiritual reasons. They were mainly dedicated to the Virgin Mary and several sections of them were dedicated to various saints. This definitely showed their ample faith and commitment to God. These two buildings were and are very important in French Gothic style cathedrals. The Notre Dame was the first cathedral that was built perfectly to scale. These techniques were used in construction of later cathedrals. Finally, later constructed cathedrals of French Gothic style were modeled after these two magnificent pieces of art known as Notre Dame and Chartres.
The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France for a number of reasons. First it represented the two countries friendship and close bond during the American Revolution. It was also recognition of the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The last reason why America got Lady Liberty from France was because E...
The Eiffel Tower, also known as La Tour Eiffel in French, is a world famous structure located in Paris, France. The construction of the Eiffel Tower began in July 1887 and was completed in March 1889. The Eiffel Tower was chosen in a contest, out of hundreds of artist proposals, to being a center piece at the Exposition Universelle, World’s Fair, hosted by Paris in 1889. The purpose of the contest was to select a building which would commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the French Revolution in 1789, demonstrate France’s industrial expertise to the world, and serve as the center piece of the World’s Fair. The Eiffel Tower is currently located on Champ-de-Mars, the center of Paris. Originally, the tower was built as temporary monument and was planned to be demolished after twenty years of its construction. Before its completion, the tower received several oppositions to ending its construction. A group of about three hundred artists, sculptors, writers and architects sent a petition to the commissioner of the Paris Exposition, pleading to end the construction of the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was accused of taking away the beauty and light of the capital. However, the petition was ignored and the construction continued. The decision to demolish the tower was also eliminated due to the monument’s abilities and functions, which were discovered after its completion. The Eiffel Tower contains a meteorology laboratory for scientists’ to use for studying and inventing purposes on gravity and electricity. The tower also serves a significant role due to its antenna, which was added in 1930. The French military used the Eiffel Tower’s antenna as a wireless telegraph transmitter to communicate with ships in the Atlantic Ocean and...
