E-commerce is a type of business where individuals, firms and companies engage in business activities over an electronic network mainly internet. The emergence of e-commerce can be attributed to the advent of new technologies, mail order purchasing through a catalog is possible. Currently almost all products and services are offered through e-commerce including financial services. E-commerce has emanated from a number of technologies such as electronic funds transfer, mobile commerce, online transaction processing, internet marketing, supply chain management, automated data collection system, inventory management system and electronic data interchange. With the dynamism and advancement of these technologies, in the current corporate world e-commerce uses World Wide Web as well as other technologies such as mobile devices, telephones, social media and email .

I will be discussing the use of e-commerce in a “brick and click” organisation. Click organisations are E-commerce sites, like Tesco paly.com, Argos, and amazon. The reason why they are called click is because you have to click to interact with the online store. A brick organisation is your store in the high street, like Gamestation M&S. But the Brick Organisation tends to also have an online website so they can be there for customers 24/7, for example Tesco.

Recently, online shopping has been most convenient for me, but I enjoy both ways of shopping. I believe that shopping preferences change depending on a person’s situation.
