There are many tragic events that happen in our world. But nothing is scarier than when it comes to the death of someone else committed by another person. In our world today, many sad and devastating events happen. There are many crazy people in our world. Some, whose names are still very well known nation wide due to some of the tragic events they have caused us. Even some that have happened many years ago. There is one man that stands out because of the tragedy he has brought to our world that no one will ever forget. His name is Charles Manson. Charles Manson is known as the worlds number one serial killer. Charles Manson he began a cult when he was in his twenties, went to prison numerous times and committed some murders people today will never forget.
Charles Manson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on November 12, 1934. He was the son of Kathleen Maddox: a sixteen year old prostitute. His mother was not ready to be a mother. She drank a lot and often didn't care for Charles. At one point in her life she was sentenced to prison for five years for robbing a West Virginia gas station. Because of this, Charles had spent most of his time traveling to various relatives and often at special reform schools and boys homes. At one point he was sent to live with his aunt and uncle, who didn't treat him right either. By age nine, Charles Manson had already started stealing and getting into a lot of fights at school. As you can see his child hood was a mess that only progressed with age. That soon became a habit that lead to even worse situations.

... He said that it would happen in the summer of 1969 when the blacks would rise and slaughter the white people. When this did not happen he told his “family” that they must show the blacks how to do it. Manson ordered four of his followers to a man named Terry Melchers house. One of the men that did not help him with his music career when he was trying to get one. What Manson did not known was that Terry had moved out and no longer lived there. Instead, an actress, Sharon Tate and her husband lived there. Manson visited the house asking for Melcher, but was turned away as Melcher had moved. On August 9, 1969 Manson and his “family” returned to the house and killed Tate, her unborn child and four guest that were visiting Tate at the time. Her husband was on vacation at this time. This murder was one of the most world wide known murders out of all of Mansons murders.

Manson's “family” committed nine murders at four different locations. In 1971, Manson was convicted of first degree murder for the deaths of seven of the nine murders, two years before conviction. Manson was later convicted of first degree murder of the concluding two deaths later that year.

Neglect during his childhood, most certainly affected Charles Manson and contributed to the monster he became. Charles’s mother robbed him of a normal childhood with a loving family. Reports on Manson stated that he was “suffering from a ‘marked degree of rejection, instability, and psychic trauma’” (“Charles Manson Biography”). Charles later married a 17 year old woman who left him for another man due to his return to prison (“Charles Manson Biography”). Once again, Charles was abandoned by someone he loved. After his time in jail, Manson obsessed over cult-quasi-religious groups and he took on the role of a cult leader because he believed the world to be “doomed” (“Charles Manson Biography”). Charles then formed his cult from a group of unstable people. He persuaded his group to believe that he was of a higher power; therefore, they followed him like a god. The biography of Manson states that, “Manson himself took no part in the actual killings, but directed his murderous disciples to the address and instructed them to kill everyone (“Charles Manson Biography”). Charles Mason, the leader of "The Manson Family" cult, is an ideal example of social deviancy. In Manson’s earlier years of life he engaged in many deviant acts/crimes; but, he’s infamous for being the leader of the cult responsible for the murders of Sharon Tate and Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit these murders, which were carried out by members of “the family”. Tate, her unborn child, and four others were murdered on August 9, 1969 by four members of cult. The next night, Leno and Rosemary LaBianca were killed in their home.
