My sincere apologies that I didn't get to say goodbye before my family and my sudden departure. I miss talking to you dearly and Trust me I was not on board with their plans and ideas of a new and rich land across the pacific, or in there words a “Utopia”.
As you knew my family was struggling, father had just lost his job in the wool mill and feared that more work would be scarce to come by, after three weeks of being jobless our family started to realise that the only option to bring a few pounds into the family would be sending me and my three brothers to work in one of the vast factories that surrounded London. Sadly New Zealand was not what me and my family were expecting ,once we past the beach all that we could see was dense bush land, this was different from the lush green hills we had all imagined but we all then set upon clearing land for us to live. But at least it is far cleaner then London but I can not say that I am not slightly disappointed with the lack of similarities between advertisements and reality it doesn't quite match the utopia we imagined . Sadly the end of our journey did not come free of death after a week of living in our new settlement one of the crew passed on. We buried him near the beach that we landed on. I half expected that we would set him off to sea since thats what we would of done if someone had done if someone had died on the ship. Recently people in our settlement are telling stories of strange men and women called maori “ the supposed natives of the land” that have been spotted approaching our settlement, as not seeing this my self I am not sure what to make of these current rumours, but it still scares me and I often became nervous at night and feel like they were watching me in the shadows, I just hope that these rumours stay
