What makes a hero a hero? A noble birth? Saving someone life? What makes one a hero? To me, there is much quality that makes a hero a hero and I believe that Bo Jackson shows much quality of an epic hero. Growing Bo Jackson did not have the ideal childhood. He was left without a father figure when his dad left him and his mother. The kid would bully him causing him to be the bully. Yet that was just a faze for Bo and he became to be a person that shows many great qualities of an epic hero. For example, he shows many traits like national heroism, is capable of deeds of great strength and courage, shows and the importance of humility.

athletes to be named an All-Star in two major sports, and the only athlete to do so in both baseball and football. However, when it seems like he was in trouble and nobody wanted him. Washburn did and Washburn was close to home. However, Bo Jackson loves what he did and wanted to do what he did.
Not only that he loved when he. In fact, he loved what he did that he was devastated and upset that it was against the rule to play more than one sport. He no longer trusted Tampa Bay and would never play for them again. However, lucky for him Tampa Bay was not the only team that wanted him. Bo was talented that people wanted to talk about them and they would say things like, "[Bo] was larger than life, ideal." or "[Bo Jackson] isn't human because he was that talented." There was never any doubt that Bo loved what he did and nothing would stop him. When Bo popped his socket and popped it back in he got up like it was nothing. Nobody would have known that he hurt until he had fallen down. He was soon on crutches and had to leave his team, but as he left the team on crutches. Bo Jackson told his coach that he would be back. Bo then never gave up. He worked in physical therapy and the things that he did there were amazing. Bo coach said he saw him shooting arrows with his feet. There was not an end to what Bo Jackson could
do. Not only was Bo Jackson amazingly talented but he constantly showed humility. Bo knew he was talented but that never really stop him. Instead of going to bar or going to bar and caring about the praise he got. He stayed at home with his wife watching football on the couch and if he was not doing that he. He was in his man cave making arrows to hunt. Bo's sports trophy really never matter to him either, but his real trophy were the animals that he hunted. When Bo hunted animals, he would keep the animal but give the meat family and people who were in need of it. There was not the other face to Bo Jackson. What you saw was real. Just like everyone else, Bo Jackson had challenges and life trails that could have set him back but that did stop from becoming the great hero that he is today. Bo Jackson didn't have a noble birth or save someone life to make him the hero is today but he became the real Bo Jackson. He shows many traits like national heroism, is capable of deeds of great strength and courage, shows and the importance of humility.
How do you define a hero? Some may define a hero as someone with great courage and bravery; to others a hero might be a strong warrior and leader who wins battles; others may define a hero as one who uses his brain as much as his brawn to win. In Homer's epic poem, Odyssey, Odysseus is portrayed as a hero by every definition.

The dictionary defines hero in mythology and legend as, "a man who is endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for his bold exploits, and born of divine or royal blood. He is a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life." In addition, I believe a hero is one to be looked up to and emulated. What is interesting about epic heroes is that their great deeds and exploits all have to do with defeating themselves, so with help from the gods they can truly become heroic. They can only defeat themselves with the help of the gods.

Bo knows what it is like to be called one of the greatest athletes of all time. Vincent “Bo” Jackson had to overcome a lot as a child, he was the eighth of ten children that his mom took care of. Athletes come and go, but there are a great few that are remembered for having made a bigger impact than normal on the sporting world. A few of those athletes names are Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky, and Bo Jackson. Many people don’t know very much about Bo. This is because he wasn’t playing for very long. Although his career came to an abrupt end, Bo Jackson is still considered one of the best athletes ever because of the impact he was able to make while he was healthy. Knowing what he accomplished in his short time in professional sports makes many wonder, what more could he have done?
The definition of a hero is unique for every individual; however there are several regulations that majority of individuals can agree on. A hero must exhibit traits such as humility, kindness, and courage. Once the candidate expresses hubris, displays cruelty, or retreats from a formidable challenge, he cannot be considered a hero. Lastly, a hero candidate must overcome challenges that defy the odds. He must deliver a gift to society that benefits society as a whole; such gifts can be freedom, liberty, or hope. Odysseus in The Odyssey, by Homer, fulfilled these requirements and rightfully earned the title of a hero. Odysseus is well deserving of the title hero because he has put the needs of others before his own, shown signs of courage in the face of adversity, and displays humility by ridding himself of his hubris.
He quickly attracted He wasn’t just the best at basketball, but also very good at baseball. Michael had ended up returning back to the game of basketball because it didn’t feel right playing baseball. Obviously that was the right choice to do, because he had went on to do bigger and better things like make it into the Hall of Fame. Now who wouldn’t want to do that?
Being a hero means to be willing to risk your life for others. Such as, Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman was a fantastic football player and he loved playing it too. Despite that, Pat Tillman turned down a 3.6million dollar contract to the Arizona Cardinals to go fight the war against terrorism. He ended up dieing from friendly fire. All this goes to show how brave Pat Tillman was to risk his life and give up his football career to go fight in Afghanistan to help protect the American people. People are heroes in different ways for different reasons. American soldiers are heroes because they fight boldly for their country. Corrie Ten Boom is also a hero because she took risks and saved hundreds of Jews. Abraham Lincoln is another example of a hero because he fought for what he thought was right and helped free all slaves. Similarly, Odysseus, the main character in Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, possesses all of these characteristics and many more, making him a true epic hero.
There are a tremendous amount of reason as for why I believe Bo Jackson is the greatest athlete of all time. One of the main reasons that so many people see him as the best of all time is
It is evident that Jesse Owens proved to the world what no one at the time believed could be achieved. At a time when Blacks were not equal, there was no appreciation possible in the eyes of the Americans until the civil rights movement following after the cold war. Jesse Owens dealt with much more than any African American could ever imagine. Regardless of his immense achievements, Owens did not receive recognition for such important winnings until several years after the 1936 Olympics. Despite the hate that Owens received, he was able to surpass such negativity by being involved in other organizations and through this, Owens was victorious not only on the track but also as normal human being.
I consider a hero someone that has done great things. There are different opinions in what a hero is but to me , being a hero is one who accomplishes hard goals, standing up for their own rights, doing things that are extraordinary. Muhammad Ali-Cassius Clay is someone that fills my standards of a hero. Muhammad Ali has accomplished hard goals by getting medals in the Olympics. Muhammad Ali had to stand up for his rights when he started to box. He has accomplished things in his life that would be very hard for me to accomplish. Muhammad Ali has done things that I think are very magnificent. The thing Muhammad Ali has done makes him a hero to me.
