William Henry "Bill" Gates III was born on October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington. He was born into a family with a rich history of business and politics. His father, William H. Gates, was Seattle defensive lawyer and his mother, Mary Maxwell Gates, was the schools teacher and the chairperson for United Way Charity. Bill gates has changed the world by developing one of the most popular computer systems, donating billions of dollars to charities, and acting as a role model to today's young scholars.

Not many people are able to encompass all of the traits that come together to make this well rounded person. Bill Gates, on the other hand, possesses the traits that are present in a Renaissance man. He is honorable, smart, confident, proficient, intelligent, humble, knowledgeable, kind, generous, socially inclined, affable, respectful, athletic, and a writer. Bill Gates’ upbringing was that of privilege and opportunity, wanting for nothing while growing up. Bill was innately curious and quite intelligent drawing him to computer technology early in life. While in the seventh grade, at age 13, he wrote his first computer program. This was when he met his best friend and later business partner, Paul Allen. Gates went on to form a group in high school of programmers that automated their school’s payroll system and then started a company called Traf-O-Data (Bill Gates, 2014) Traf-O-Data sold traffic counting systems to local city governments all before he finished high school (Bill Gates, 2014).
